4Connect the A-type (flat) end of the USB cable to the USB port 
on the computer.
5Press the   side of the power switch to turn the printer on.
6Turn the computer on and start up Windows Vista.
7Log on as a member of Administrators.
The [Found New Hardware] dialog box appears.
NOTE
Full Control Permission is required for the installation of the printer driver.

8Click [Locate and install driver software (recommended)].
NOTE
If the [User Account Control] dialog box appears, click [Continue].
9If the following screen appears, click [Dont search online].

10Click [I dont have the disc. Show me other options.].
11Click [Browse my computer for driver software (advanced)].

12Insert the supplied LBP3000 User Software CD-ROM into 
the CD-ROM drive, and then click [Browse].
If CD-ROM Setup appears, click [Exit].
13Select [D:\English\Win2K_Vista], then click [OK].
The CD-ROM drive name is indicated as D: in this manual. The CD-ROM drive 
name may differ depending on the computer you are using.

14Make sure that the folder to be browsed is displayed in 
[Search for driver software in this location], and then click 
[Next].
Copying files is started.
NOTE
If the [Windows Security] dialog box appears, click [Install this driver software 
anyway].
15Click [Close].

server, configure Windows Firewall to unblock communication with the...

The installation of the USB class driver (supplied with an operating system) and the 
printer driver is completed.

When the installation of the CAPT software is complete, an icon and folder will be 
created for the printer.
■For Windows  98/Me/2000
•The icon for the printer is displayed in the [Printers] folder.
•[Canon Printer Uninstaller] is added to [Programs] under the [Start] menu.

•If the manuals are installed, [LBP3000 Online Manuals] is created on the desktop, and 
[LBP3000 Online Manuals] under [Canon LBP3000] is added to [Programs] under the 
[Start] menu.

■For Windows XP/Server 2003
•The icon for the printer is displayed in the [Printers and Faxes] folder.
•[Canon Printer Uninstaller] is added to [All Programs] under the [Start] menu.

[LBP3000 Online Manuals] under [Canon LBP3000] is added to [All Programs] under the
