82 Š Advanced Shooting Using Headphones Use headphones for playback or to check the audio level while record- ing. The headphones are connected to the AV OUT/× terminal, which is used for both the headphones and the audio/video output. Before connecting the headphones, follow the procedure below to change the function of the terminal from AV output to × (headphones) output. Do not connect the headphones to the AV OUT/ × terminal if the Ó icon does not appear on the screen. The noise output in such case may be harmful to your hearing. Operating modes: 1 Change the function of the terminal to headphones output. 2 Connect the headphones to the AV OUT/ × terminal. 3 Adjust the volume as necessary. * You can also drag your finger along the [Headphones] bar. • Ó will appear on the screen. Advanced Shooting Š 83 To adjust the volume during playback In mode, and in mode during slideshow playback, adjust the headphones volume the same way you adjust the speaker’s vol- ume (A49, 94). IMPORTANT • When using headphones, make sure to lower the volume to an appro- priate level. NOTES • Use commercially available headphones with a ∅3.5 mm minijack. • Even if [AV/Headphones] was set to [ Ó Headphones] in a playback mode, the function of the AV OUT/ × terminal will return automatically to AV output when you turn off the camcorder. • B Audio will not be output from the AV OUT/ × terminal while Wi-Fi functions are in use. Using an External Microphone When recording in very quiet surroundings, the built-in microphone may pick up the sound of the camcorder’s internal machinery. In such case, we recommend using an external microphone. Operating modes: Using the WM-V1 Wireless Microphone Using the optional WM-V1 Wireless Microphone, you can reliably record sound even when recording subjects at a distance exceeding the practical range of the built-in microphone. For details on connect- ing and using the WM-V1, refer to the instruction manual supplied with the microphone. SCN COPY
84 Š Advanced Shooting Using Commercially Available Microphones You can also use commercially available condenser microphones with their own power supply. You can connect almost any stereo micro- phone with a ∅3.5 mm plug but audio recording levels may vary. Connect the external microphone to the MIC terminal. NOTES • When you are using a microphone connected to the MIC terminal, the audio level indicator will be displayed automatically. • When referring to the instruction manual of the WM-V1, note that the procedure written for manually adjusting the audio recording level does not apply to this camcorder. Refer to [ä Mic. Level] (A 144) for details. COPY
Advanced Playback and Editing Š 85 Advanced Playback and Editing In this chapter, you can learn how to use functions related to playback and editing, such as capturing video snapshot scenes and photos from your movies and playing back your movies with background music. Capturing Video Snapshot Scenes and Photos from a Movie You can capture video snapshot scenes or photos from a previously recorded scene. For example, you may want to print photos from video recorded at a party or create a small video clip using video snapshot scenes from the highlights of an event. The new video snapshot scene will appear at the end of the index screen on the same recording date when the original scene was recorded. Capturing Photos Operating modes: 1 Play back the scene from which you want to capture the photo (A 46). 2 Pause the playback at the point you want to capture. 3 Touch [PHOTO]. 4Touch [ Ñ] to stop the playback.
