211 k Enjoying Movies (See the PDF file instruction manual for ZoomBrowser EX/ImageBrowser, p.304) The movie files recorded in the card can be transferred to a personal computer and played or edited with ZoomBrowser EX/ImageBrowser (provided software, p.302). You can also extract a single frame from a movie and save it as a still photo. Playback and Editing with a Personal Computer To have the movie playback smoothl y on a personal computer, use a high-performance personal computer . Regarding the computer hardware requirements for ZoomBrowser EX /ImageBrowser, see the PDF file instruction manual. If you want to use commer cially-available software to playback or edit the movies, be sure it is compatible with MOV files. For details on commercially-available software , inquire the software maker. COPY
212 1Playback the image. Press the < x> button to display images. 2Select a movie. Press the key to select a movie. On the single-image display, the icon displayed on the upper left indicates a movie. If the movie is a video snapshot, < s> will be displayed. You can press the < C> button to switch the shooting information display (p.227). On the index display, the perforation on the left edge of th e image indicates a movie. As movies cannot be played on the index display, press to switch to the single-image display. 3On the single-image display, press < 0>. XThe movie playback panel will appear on the bottom. 4Playback the movie. Select [7 ] (Play), then press < 0>. X The movie will start playing. You can pause the movie playback by pressing . 213 k Playing Movies * When a background music is set, the movie’s sound will not be played. This makes low-pitched bass tones easier to hear. This function takes effect only when playing back sound with the camera’s built-in speaker. Set [ 4 Bass boost ] to [Enable ]. FunctionPlayback Description 2 ExitReturns to the single-image display. 7 PlayPressing < 0> toggles between play and stop. 8 Slow motionAdjust the slow motion speed by pressing the key. The slow-motion speed is in dicated on the upper right. 5 First frameDisplays the movie’s first frame. 3 Previous frameEach time you press < 0>, a single previous frame is displayed. If you hold down < 0>, it will rewind the movie. 6 Next frameEach time you press < 0>, the movie will play frame-by- frame. If you hold down < 0>, it will fast forward the movie. 4 Last frameDisplays the movie’s last frame. X EditDisplays the editing screen (p.214). Playback position mm’ ss”Playback time (m inutes:seconds) 9 Vo l u m eYou can adjust the built-in s peaker’s (p.212) sound volume by turning the dial. 3 Bass Boost If the sound crackl es, you should set [ Bass boost] to [ Disable]. With a fully-charged Batt ery Pack LP-E8, the cont inuous playback time will be approx. 2 hr. 30 min. at 23°C/73°F. If you took a still photo while you sh ot the movie, the still photo will be displayed for approx. 1 sec. during the movie playback. COPY
214 You can edit out the first and last scenes of a movie in 1-sec. increments. 1On the movie playback screen, select [X]. X The editing screen will be displayed. 2Specify the part to be edited out. Select either [ U] (Cut beginning) or [V ] (Cut end), then press < 0>. Press the < U> key to see the previous or next frames. Holding it down will fast forward the frames. After deciding which part to edit out, press < 0>. The portion highlighted in blue on the top of the screen is what will remain. 3Check the edited movie. Select [7] and press to playback the portion highlighted in blue. To change the editing, go back to step 2. To cancel the editing, select [2] and press < 0>. 4Save the movie. Select [W ], then press < 0>. X The save screen will appear. To save it as a new movie, select [New file ]. To save it and overwrite the original movie file, select [Overwrite ]. Then press < 0>. X Editing a Movie’s First and Last Scenes Since the editing is done in 1-sec. increments (position indicated by [X]), the exact position where the movie is edited may differ slightly from the position you specified. If the card does not have enough room, [ New file] will not be selectable. More movie editing functions are available with ZoomBrowser EX/ ImageBrowser (provide d software, p.302). COPY
215 You can playback the images in the card as an automatic slide show. 1Select [Slide show]. Under the [ 4] tab, select [Slide show ], then press < 0>. 2Select the images to be played. Press the < V> key to select the desired option, then press < 0>. [All images/Movies/Stills] Press the < V> key to select one of the following: [ jAll images/ k Movies/z Stills]. Then press < 0 >. [Date/Folder/Rating] Press the < V> key to select one of the following: [ iDate/nFolder/ Rating ]. When < xH> is highlighted, press the < C> button. Set the [Display time] (still photos), [Repeat ], [Transition effect], and [Background music ]. The background music selection procedure is explained on the next page. 217 3 Slide Show (Auto Playback) 4Start the slide show. Press the < V> key to select [ Start], then press < 0>. X After [ Loading image... ] is displayed, the slide show will start. 5Quit the slide show. To quit the slide show and return to the setting screen, press the button. Set [ Background music ] to [On], then press < 0>. Press the < V> key to select the desired background music then press < 0 >. You can also select multiple background musics. To hear a sample of a background music, press the < C> button. Press the < V> key to listen to another background music. To stop listening to the background music, press the < C> button again. Adjust the sound volume by turning the < 6> dial. After selecting the setting, press the < M> button. Selecting the Background Music To pause the slide show, press . During pause, [G] will be displayed on the upper left of the image. Press again to resume the slide show. During auto playback , you can press the button to change the still photo display format (p.71). During movie playback, you can adjust the sound volume by turning the dial. During pause, you can press the < U> key to view another image. During the slide show, auto po wer off will not take effect. The display time may vary depending on the image. To view the slide show on a TV set, see pages 218. Upon purchase, th e camera is not set for selecting the background music. You must first use EOS Utilit y (provided software) to copy the background music to the card. For det ails, see the EOS Utility Instruction Manual in the CD-ROM. COPY
218 You can view the still photos and movies on a TV set. HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is required. 1Connect the HDMI cable to the camera. With the plug’s < dHDMI MINI > logo facing the front of the camera, insert it into the < D > terminal. 2Connect the HDMI cable to the TV set. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI IN port. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . Viewing the Images on TV Viewing on HD (High-Definition) TV Sets Adjust the movie’s sound volume wi th the TV set. The sound volume cannot be adjusted with the camera. Before connecting or disconnectin g the cable between the camera and television, turn off th e camera and TV set. Depending on the TV set, part of the image displayed might be cut off. COPY
219 Viewing the Images on TV 5Press the button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor). The images will automatically be displayed at the TV’s optimum resolution. By pressing the < C> button, you can change the display format. To playback movies, see page 212. If the TV set connected to the camera wi th an HDMI cable is compatible with HDMI CEC*, you can use the TV set’s re mote control for playback operations. * An HDMI-standard function enabling HDMI device s to control each other so that you can control them with one remote control unit. 1 Set [Ctrl over HDMI] to [Enable]. Under the [ 4] tab, select [Ctrl over HDMI ], then press < 0>. Select [Enable ], then press . 2Connect the camera to a TV set. Use an HDMI cable to connect the camera to the TV. X The TV’s input will switch automatically to the HDMI port connected to the camera. Using HDMI CEC TV Sets Do not connect any ot her device’s output to the camera’s terminal. Doing so ma y cause a malfunction. Certain TVs might not be able to play back the captured images. In such a case, use the provided AV cable to connect to the TV. The camera’s < > terminal and < D> terminal cannot be used at the same time. q COPY
Viewing the Images on TV 220 3Press the camera’s button. XAn image will appear on the TV screen and you can use the TV’s remote control to playback images. 4Select an image or movie. Point the remote control toward the TV set and press the / button to select an image. 5Press the remote control’s Enter button. X The menu appears and you can do the playback operations shown on the left. Press the / button to select the desired option, then press the Enter button. For a slide show, press the remote control’s / button to select an option, then press the Enter button. If you select [ Return] and press the Enter button, the menu will disappear and you can use the / button to select an image. Still photo playback menu Movie playback menu Some TV sets require yo u to first enable the HDMI CEC connection. For details, see the TV se t’s instruction manual. Certain TV sets, even those comp atible with HDMI CEC, may not operate properly.
