218 If a problem occurs, first refer to this Troubleshooting Guide. If this Troubleshooting Guide does not resolve the problem, contact your dealer or nearest Canon Service Center. Do not recharge any battery pack ot her than a genuine Canon Battery Pack LP-E8. The battery is not properly installed in the camera (p.26). Recharge the battery (p.24). Make sure the battery compar tment cover is closed (p.26). Make sure the card slot cover is closed (p.31). Press the < B> button (p.44). If there is a problem with the battery charger, the protective circuit will stop the charging operation and the charge lamp will blink in orange. If this happens, disconnect the charger’ s power plug from the power outlet and remove the battery pack. Attach the battery pack to the charger again and wait a while befo re connecting the charger to a power outlet again. If the power is cut off while an image is being recorded to the card, the access lamp will still continue to light/blink for a few seconds. When the image recording is comp leted, the power will turn off automatically. Troubleshooting Guide Power-Related Problems The battery cannot be recharged with the battery charger provided. The camera does not operate even when the power switch is set to < 1>. The battery charger’s lamp blinks. The access lamp still blinks even when the power switch is set to < 2>. COPY
219 Troubleshooting Guide Use a fully-charged battery pack (p.24). The rechargeable battery pack performance will degrade over repeated use. Purchase a new one. If you use Live View shooting or shoot movies for a prolonged period (p.107, 123), the number of possible shots will decrease. Auto power off is in effect. If you do not want auto power off to take effect, set [ 5 Auto power off ] to [Off]. Even if [ 5 Auto power off ] has been set to [ Off], the LCD monitor will still turn off after the camera is idle for 30 min. Press the button to turn on the LCD monitor. The card is not properly inserted (p.31). If the card is full, replace the card or delete unnecessary images to make room (p.31, 171). If you try to focus in One-Shot AF mode while the focus confirmation light < o> in the viewfinder blinks, a pi cture cannot be taken. Press the shutter button halfway aga in to focus, or focus manually (p.37, 69). Slide the card’s write-protect switch to the Write/Erase setting (p.31). Set the lens focus mode switch to < AF> (p.33). To prevent camera shake, press t he shutter button gently (p.36, 37). If the lens has an Image Stabilizer, set the IS switch to < 1>. The battery becomes exhausted quickly. The camera turns off by itself. Shooting-Related Problems No images can be shot nor recorded. The image is out of focus. COPY
Troubleshooting Guide 220 If a card error message is di splayed, see page 42 or 224. Set the [7 Custom Functions (C.Fn) ] menu’s [High ISO speed noise reduction] to [ Standard], [Low ], or [ Disable ]. If it is set to [ Strong ], the maximum burst during co ntinuous shooting will greatly decrease (p.193). If you shoot something that has fine detail (field of grass, etc.), the file size will be larger and the actual maximum burst might be lower than the number ment ioned on page 72. Under the [7 Custom Functions (C.Fn)] menu, if [ Highlight tone priority ] is set to [ Enable], ISO 100 cannot be set. When [ Highlight tone priority ] is set to [Disable], ISO 100 can be set (p.194). This also applies to movie shooting (p.134). Under the [7 Custom Functions (C.Fn)] menu, if [ Highlight tone priority ] is set to [ Enable], the Auto Lighting Optimizer cannot be set. When [ Highlight tone priority ] is set to [Disable], then the Auto Lighting Optimizer can be set (p. 194). This also applies to movie shooting (p.134). If you shoot at night when the ba ckground is dark, the shutter speed becomes slow automatically (slow- sync shooting) so that both the subject and background are properly exposed. If you do not want a slow shutter speed to be set, set the [7 Custom Functions (C.Fn) ] menu’s [ Flash sync. speed in Av mode ] to 1 or 2 (p.192). The card cannot be used. The maximum burst during continuous shooting is lower. ISO 100 cannot be set. The Auto Lighting Optimizer cannot be set. When I use the mode with flash, the shutter speed becomes slow. COPY
