161 k Enjoying Movies (See the PDF file instruction manu al for ZoomBrowser EX/ImageBrowser) The movie files recorded in the card can be transferred to a personal computer and played or edited with ZoomBrowser EX/ImageBrowser (provided software). You can also extract a single frame from a movie and save it as a still photo. Playback and Editing with a Personal Computer For smooth movie playba ck, use a high-performance personal computer. Regarding the computer hardware re quirements for ZoomBrowser EX/ ImageBrowser, see the PDF file instruction manual. If you want to use commer cially-available software to playback or edit the movies, be sure it is compatible with MOV files. For details on commercially-available software , inquire the software maker. COPY
162 1Playback the image. Press the < x> button to display the image. 2Select a movie. Press the < U> key to select a movie. With the single-image display, the icon displayed on the upper left indicates that it is a movie. During the index display, the perforation on the left edge of the image indicates that it is a movie. As movies cannot be played on the index display, press < 0> to switch to the single-image display. 3Press < 0>. On the single-image display, press . X The movie playback panel will appear on the bottom. 4Playback the movie. Select [7 ] (Play), then press < 0>. X The movie will start playing. You can pause the movie playback by pressing . The slow-motion speed is in dicated on the upper right. 5 First frameDisplays the movie’s first frame. 3 Previous frameEach time you press < 0>, a single previous frame is displayed. If you hold down < 0>, it will rewind the movie. 6 Next frameEach time you press < 0>, the movie will play frame-by- frame. If you hold down < 0>, it will fast forward the movie. 4 Last frameDisplays the movie’s last frame. X EditDisplays the editing screen (p.164). Playback position mm’ ss”Playback time 9 Vo l u m eYou can adjust the built-in s peaker’s (p.162) sound volume by turning the dial. With a fully-charged Batt ery Pack LP-E8, the cont inuous playback time at 23°C/73°F will be as fo llows: Approx. 2 hr. 30 min. During the single-image display, press the button to switch the shooting information display (p.173). If you took a still photo while you sh ot the movie, the still photo will be displayed for approx. 1 sec. during the movie playback. If you connect the camera to a TV set (p.167, 169) to playback a movie, adjust the sound volume with the TV set. (Turning the < 6> dial will not adjust the sound volume.) COPY
164 You can edit out the first and last scenes of a movie in 1-sec. increments. 1On the movie playback screen, select [X]. X The editing screen will be displayed. 2Specify the part to be edited out. Select either [ U] (Cut beginning) or [V ] (Cut end), then press < 0>. Press the < U> key to see the previous or next frames. Holding it down will fast forward the frames. After deciding which pa rt to edit out, press . The portion highlighted in blue on the top of the screen is what will remain. 3Check the edited movie. Select [7] and press to playback the portion highlighted in blue. To change the editing, go back to step 2. To cancel the editing, select [2] and press < 0>. 4Save the movie. Select [W ], then press < 0>. X The save screen will appear. To save it as a new movie, select [New file ]. To save it and overwrite the original movie file, select [Overwrite ]. Then press < 0>. X Editing the Movie’s First and Last Scenes Since the editing is done in 1-sec. increments (position indicated by [ X ]), the exact position where the movie is edited may differ slightly from the position you specified. If the card does not have enough room, [ New file] will not be selectable. More movie editing functions are available with ZoomBrowser EX/ ImageBrowser (provided software). COPY
165 You can playback the images in the card as an automatic slide show. 1Select [Slide show]. Under the [ 3] tab, select [Slide show ], then press < 0>. 2Select the images to be played back. Press the < V> key to select the top menu item, then press < 0>. Press the < V> key to select one of the following: [ jAll images/i Date/ k Movies/z Stills]. Then press < 0 >. If you selected [ iDate ], press the < B > button while < zH> is highlighted. The [ Select date ] screen will appear. 3 Slide Show (Auto Playback) 166 3Set the play time and repeat option. Press the < V> key to select [ Set up], then press < 0>. For still photos, set the [ Display time] and [Repeat ] options, then press the < M > button. 4Start the slide show. Press the < V> key to select [ Start], then press < 0>. X After [ Loading image... ] is displayed, the slide show will start. 5Quit the slide show. To quit the slide show and return to the setting screen, press the button. [Display time][Repeat] To pause the slide show, press . During pause, [G ] will be displayed on the upper left of the image. Press again to resume the slide show. During auto playback , you can press the button to change the still photo display format. During movie playback, you can adjust the sound volume by turning the . During pause, you can press the < U> key to view another image. During the slide show, auto po wer off will not take effect. The display time may vary depending on the image. 167 You can also view the still photos and movies on a TV set. Before connecting or disconnecting the cable between the camera and television, turn off the camera and television. * Adjust the movie’s sound volume with the TV set.* Depending on the TV set, part of the image di splayed might be cut off. The HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is required. 1Connect the HDMI cable to the camera. Connect the HDMI cable to the camera’s < D > terminal. With the plug’s < dHDMI MINI > logo facing the front of the camera, insert it into the < D > terminal. 2Connect the HDMI cable to the TV set. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI IN port. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) The images will be displayed at the TV’s optimum resolution automatically. Viewing the Images on TV 168 For HDMI CEC TV sets When a TV set compatible with HDMI CEC* is connected to the camera with the HDMI cable, you can use the TV set’s remote control for playback operations. * A function enabling you to control multiple HDMI devices with one remote control unit. 1 Select [Ctrl over HDMI]. Under the [4] tab, select [Ctrl over HDMI], then press < 0>. Select [Enable], then press .XWhen the camera is connected to a TV set, the TV set’s input will automatically switch to the HDMI port connected to the camera. When you press the camera’s < x > button, you can use the TV set’s remote control for playback operations. 2Select the image. Point the remote control to the TV set and press the / button to select the image. Then press the Enter button. XThe menu will appear. The menu displayed will differ for still photos and movies. Press the / button to select an option, then press the Enter button. X For a slide show, press the remote control’s / button to select an option, then press the Enter button. Select [Return] and press the Enter button. The menu w ill disappear and you can use the / button to se lect an image. Do not connect any ot her device’s output to the camera’s terminal. Doing so ma y cause a malfunction. Some TVs might not be able to disp lay the captured images. In such a case, use the provided AV ca ble to connect to the TV. The camera’s < q/C > terminal and < D> terminal cannot be used at the same time. COPY
169 Viewing the Images on TV 1Connect the provided AV cable to the camera. Connect the AV cable to the camera’s < /q C> terminal. With the plug’s < Canon> logo facing the back of the camera, insert it into the < /q C> terminal. 2Connect the AV cable to the TV set. Connect the AV cable to the TV’s video IN terminal and to the audio IN terminal. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) To playback movies, see page 162. Viewing on Non-HD (High-Definition) TV Sets Some TV sets require yo u to first enable the HDMI CEC connection. For details, see the TV se t’s instruction manual. Certain TV sets, even those compatible with HDMI CEC, may not operate properly. In such a case, set the camera’s [ 4 Ctrl over HDMI ] menu option to [ Disable ], and use the camera to c ontrol the playback operation. (Red) (White) (Yellow) Do not use any AV cable other than the one provided. Images might not be displayed if you use a different cable. If the video system format does not match the TV’s, the images will not be displayed properly. Set the proper video system format with the [6 Video system ] menu option. COPY
170 Protecting an image prevents it from being erased accidentally. 1Select [Protect images]. Under the [ 3] tab, select [Protect images ], then press < 0>. X The protect setting screen will appear. 2Select the image and protect it. Press the < U> key to select the image to be protected, then press < 0 >. X When an image is protected, the icon will appear on the top of the screen. To cancel the image protection, press again. The < K> icon will disappear. To protect another im age, repeat step 2. To exit the image protection, press the < M > button. The menu will reappear. K Protecting Images Image protect icon If you format the card (p.42), the protected images will also be erased. Once an image is protected, it cann ot be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected im age, you must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.17 2), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when you want to erase unnecessary images all at once. COPY
