151 You can rotate the displayed image to the desired orientation. 1Select [Rotate]. Under the [ 3] tab, select [ Rotate], then press < 0>. 2Select the image. Press the < U> key to select the image to be rotated. You can also select an image on the index display. 3Rotate the image. Each time you press < 0>, the image will rotate clockwise as follows: 90° → 270° → 0° To rotate another image, repeat steps 2 and 3. To exit and return to the menu, press the < M > button. b Rotating the Image If you have set [ 5 Auto rotate ] to [OnzD] (p.134) before taking vertical shots, you need not rota te the image as described above. If the rotated image is not displaye d in the rotated orientation during image playback, set the [ 5 Auto rotate ] menu to [OnzD]. A movie cannot be rotated.
152 1Playback the image. Press the < x> button to display the image. 2Select a movie. Press the key to select the image. During the single-image display, the icon displayed on the upper left indicates that it is a movie. During the index display, the perforation on the left edge of the image indicates that it is a movie. Movies cannot be played on the index display, so press the < u> button to switch to the single- image display. 3Press < 0>. On the single-image display, press . X The movie playback panel will appear on the bottom. 4Playback the movie. Select [ 7] (Play), then press < 0>. X The movie will start playing. You can pause the movie playback by pressing < 0>. The slow-motion speed is in dicated on the upper right. 5 First frameDisplays the movie’s first frame. 3 Previous frameEach time you press , a single previous frame is displayed. If you hold down < 0>, it will rewind the movie. 6 Next frameEach time you press < 0>, the movie will play frame-by- frame. If you hold down < 0>, it will fast forward the movie. 4 Last frameDisplays the movie’s last frame. Playback position mm’ ss”Playback time 9 Vo l u m eYou can adjust the built-in sp eaker’s (p.17) sound volume by turning the < 6> dial. With a fully-charged Batt ery Pack LP-E5, the cont inuous playback time will be as follows: At 23°C /73°F: Approx. 2 hr. 30 min. During the single-image display, press the < B> button to switch the shooting information display (p.161). If you took a still photo when you shot the movie, the still photo will be displayed for about 1 sec. during the movie playback. If you connect the camera to a TV set (p.156-157) to playback a movie, adjust the sound volume with the TV set. (Turning the dial will not adjust the sound volume.) To edit a movie, use ZoomBrow ser EX/ImageBrowser (provided software).
154 You can playback the images in the card as an automatic slide show. 1Select [Slide show]. Under the [ 4] tab, select [ Slide show ], then press < 0>. 2Select the images to be played back. Press the < V> key to select the top menu item, then press < 0>. Press the < V> key to select one of the following: [ jAll images/ zStills/ k Movies/ iDate ]. Then press < 0 >. If you selected [ iDate ], press the < B > button while < zH> is displayed brightly. The [ Select date ] screen will appear. 155 3 Slide Show (Auto Playback) 3Set the play time and repeat option. Press the < V> key to select [ Set up ], then press < 0>. For still photos, set the [ Play time] and [ Repeat ] options, then press the < M > button. 4Start the slide show. Press the < V> key to select [ Start], then press < 0>. X After [ Loading image... ] is displayed, the slide show will start. To pause the slide show, press < 0> ([ G ] displayed on upper left). Press < 0 > again to resume playback. 5Quit the slide show. To quit the slide show and return to the setting screen, press the button. [Play time][Repeat] During auto playback , you can press the button to change the still photo display format. During movie playback, you can adjust the sound volume by turning the < 6 >. During pause, you can press the < U> key to view another image. During the slide show, auto power off will not work. The display time may vary depending on the image. To view the slide show on a TV set, see page 156-157.
156 You can also view the still photos and movies on a TV set. Before connecting or disconnecting the cable between the camera and television, turn off the camera and television. * Adjust the movie’s sound volume with the TV set.* Depending on the TV set, part of the image displayed might be cut off. 1Connect the provided AV cable to the camera. Connect the AV cable to the camera’s terminal. With the plug’s < Canon> logo facing the back of the camera, insert it into the < q /C > terminal. 2Connect the AV cable to the TV set. Connect the AV cable to the TV’s video IN terminal and to th e audio IN terminal. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected terminal. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) To playback movies, see page 152. Viewing the Images on TV Viewing on Non-HD (High-Definition) TV Sets (Black) (Yellow) If the video system format does not match the TV’s, the images will not be displayed properly. Set the pro per video system format with [6 Video system ]. Do not use any AV cable other than the one provided. Images might not be displayed if you use a different cable.
157 Viewing the Images on TV The HDMI Cable HTC-100 (sold separately) is required. 1Connect the HDMI cable to the camera. Connect the HDMI cable to the camera’s < D > terminal. With the plug’s < dHDMI MINI > logo facing the front of the camera, insert it into the < D > terminal. 2Connect the HDMI cable to the TV set. Connect the HDMI cable to the TV’s HDMI IN port. 3Turn on the TV and switch the TV’s video input to select the connected port. 4Set the camera’s power switch to . 5Press the < x> button. XThe image will appear on the TV screen. (Nothing will be displayed on the camera’s LCD monitor.) The images will be displayed automatically at the TV’s optimum resolution. To playback movies, see page 152. Viewing on HD (High-Definition) TV Sets Do not connect any ot her device’s output to the camera’s terminal. Doing so ma y cause a malfunction. Some TVs might not be able to disp lay the captured images. In such a case, use the provided AV ca ble to connect to the TV. The camera’s < q/C > terminal and < D> terminal cannot be used at the same time.
158 Protecting the image prevents it from being erased accidentally. 1Select [Protect images]. Under the [ 3] tab, select [ Protect images ], then press < 0>. X The protect setting screen will appear. 2Select the image and protect it. Press the < U> key to select the image to be protected, then press < 0 >. X When an image is protected, the icon will appear on the screen. To cancel the image protection, press again. The < K> icon will disappear. To protect another image, repeat step 2. To exit the image protection, press the < M > button. The menu will reappear. K Protecting Images Image protect icon If you format the card (p.40), the protected images will also be erased. Once an image is protected, it cann ot be erased by the camera’s erase function. To erase a protected im age, you must first cancel the protection. If you erase all the images (p.16 0), only the protected images will remain. This is convenient when yo u want to erase unnecessary images all at once.
159 You can either select and erase images one by one or erase them in one batch. Protected images (p.158) will not be erased. Once an image is erased, it canno t be recovered. Make sure you no longer need the image before erasing it. To prevent important images from being erased accide ntally, protect it. Erasing a 1+73 image will erase both the RAW and JPEG images. 1Playback the image to be erased. 2Press the < L> button. X The erase menu will appear at the bottom of the screen. 3Erase the image. Select [ Erase], then press < 0>. The image displayed will be erased. By checkmarking the images to be erased, you can erase multiple images at one time. 1Select [Erase images]. To return to the single-image display, press the < u> button. 3Select the images to be erased. Select the images to be erased and press the < V> key. X The < X> icon will be displayed on the upper left. To erase other images, repeat step 3. 4Erase the images. Press the < L> button. Select [ OK], then press < 0>. X The selected images will be erased. You can also erase all the im ages in the card. When the [3 Erase images ] menu is set to [ All images on card ], all the images in the card will be erased. 3 Erasing All Images in the Card To also erase protected images, format the card instead (p.40).
