* With images taken in a Basic Zone mode, the information displayed will differ 
depending on the shooting mode.

 Highlight AlertWhen the shooting information is disp layed, any overexposed areas of the 
image will blink. To obta in more image detail in the overexposed areas, set 
the exposure compensation to a  negative amount and shoot again.
 HistogramThe brightness histogram shows the expo sure level distribution and overall 
brightness. The RGB histogr am is for checking the color saturation and 
gradation. The display  can be switched with [

Post-ProcessingImages
After taking a picture, you c an apply a Creative filter, 
resize the image (reduce the  number of pixels), or crop 
the image.
  The camera may not be  able to process images taken with 
another camera.
  Post-processing images as described in this chapter is not 
possible while the camera is co nnected to a computer via the 
 terminal.

You can apply the following Creative filters to an image and save it as a 
new image: Grainy B/W, Soft focus, Fish-eye effect, Art bold effect, 
Water painting effect, Toy camera effect, and Miniature effect.
1Select [Creative filters].
  Under the [x 1] tab, select [ Creative 
filters ], then press < 0>.
X An image will be displayed.
2Select an image.
  Select the image you want to apply a 
filter to.
  By pressing the < Hy> button, you 
can switch to the  index display and 
select an image.

and-white effect by adjusting the contrast.

Gives the image a soft look. You  can change the degree of softness 
by adjusting the blur.

  Art bold effect
Makes the photo look like an oil pa inting and the subject look three-
dimensional. You can adjust the cont rast and saturation. Note that 
the sky, white walls, and similar subjects may not be rendered with a 
smooth gradation and may look irr egular or have significant noise.
  Water painting effect
Makes the photo look like a watercolor  painting with soft colors. You 
can adjust the color density. Note  that night scenes or dark scenes

You can resize an image to make the pixel count lower and save it as a 
new image. Resizing an image is  possible only with JPEG 3/4 /a /b  
images. JPEG  c and RAW images cannot be resized.
1Select [Resize].
  Under the [ x1] tab, select [ Resize],

Resize Options According to Original Image Size
The image size displayed in step 3 on the preceding page, such as 
[***M ****x**** ], has a 3:2 aspect ratio. The image size according to 
aspect ratios is shown in the table below.
The asterisked image-recording qualit y figures do not exactly match the 
aspect ratio. The image  will be cropped slightly.

You can crop the image as desired and save it as a new image. JPEG 
c  and  RAW images cannot be cropped.  The 1+73  image’s 
JPEG image can be cropped.
1Select [Cropping].
 Under the [ x2] tab, select 
[Cropping], then press < 0>.

  Select the image you want to crop.

Moving the Cropping Frame  Press the < S> cross keys.
X The cropping frame will move  up, down, left, or right.
  You can also touch the cropping frame and drag it to the desired
