You can organize images into prepared categories (People, 
Scenery, Events, Category 1-3, To Do). At the category level, you 
can perform the following.
zImage searches (p. 70) 
zSlide Show (p. 82)
zProtect (p. 87)
zErase (p. 89)
zConfigure print settings (p. 91)
When working with images (for example, compiling a slide 
show, erasing or printing), it is convenient to categorize 
images in the [To Do] category.

When you have many images recorded onto a memory card, it is 
handy to use the six search keys below to jump over images to find 
the object of your search.
Jumping to Images
Shot DateJumps to the first image of each shooting date.
My CategoryJumps to the first image in each category. 
FolderJumps to the first image in each folder.
MovieJumps to a movie.
By 10 imagesJumps over 10 images at a time.
By 100 imagesJumps over 100 images at a time.

To Return to Single Image Playback
Press the MENU button.
zThe defined playback mode will be canceled under the 
following circumstances.
- When newly saving images with effects added using the
My Colors function, and edited movies
- When images are deleted using [Erase] from the 
(Play) menu
zYou cannot switch to the defined playback mode when 
classifying categories.

Viewing Movies
Movies cannot be played in the index playback mode.
1Display a movie and press  .
zImages with a   icon are movies.
2Select   (Play) and press  .
zThe movie will pause if you press 
the FUNC./SET button during 
playback. It will resume when you 
press the button again.
zWhen playback ends, the movie 
stops at the last frame displayed. 
Press the FUNC./SET button to 
display the movie control panel.
zYou can configure image 
information to show/hide in the   
(Set-up) Menu with the [Info...

zUse the television’s controls to adjust the volume when 
playing a movie on a TV set (p. 97).

You can delete portions of recorded movies.
Editing Movies
Protected movies and movies 1 second or less in duration 
cannot be edited. 
1Select   (Edit) in the movie control panel 
and press  .
zThe movie editing panel and the 
movie editing bar will display.
2Use the   or   button to select   (Cut 
Beginning) or   (Cut End) and the   or   
button to specify the cut point( ).
zTo check a temporarily edited movie, select   (Play) and 
press the FUNC./SET button.
zSelecting   (Exit) cancels the edit and...

It may take approximately 3 minutes to save an edited movie. 
If the battery runs out of charge partway through, edited movie 
clips cannot be saved. When editing movies, it is 
recommended to use a fully charged battery (Basic Guide 
p. 8).
4Select [New File] or [Overwrite] and press  .
z[New File] saves the edited movie 
under a new file name. The pre-edit 
data is left unchanged.
Note, if you press the FUNC./SET 
button while saving the movie, 
saving is canceled.

Images can be rotated clockwise 90° or 270° in the display. 
Rotating Images in the Display

rotate and press   to rotate it.

press of the FUNC./SET button.

You can select the transition effect displayed when switching 
between images. 
Playback with Transition Effects
Standard display.
The displayed image darkens and the next image gradually 
brightens until it is displayed.
