Playback/Erasing 69 You can organize images into prepared categories (People, Scenery, Events, Category 1-3, To Do). At the category level, you can perform the following. zImage searches (p. 70) zSlide Show (p. 82) zProtect (p. 87) zErase (p. 89) zConfigure print settings (p. 91) When working with images (for example, compiling a slide show, erasing or printing), it is convenient to categorize images in the [To Do] category. Organizing Images by Categor y (My Categor y) 1 (Play) Menu . See Menus and Settings (p. 23). zIn Playback mode, you can press the button to display the screen in Step 2 directly. 2Use the or button to select an image to classify and the or button to select a categor y and press the button. zYou can put the same image into more than one category. zYou can cancel the classification by pressing the FUNC./SET button again.
70 When you have many images recorded onto a memory card, it is handy to use the six search keys below to jump over images to find the object of your search. Jumping to Images Shot DateJumps to the first image of each shooting date. My CategoryJumps to the first image in each category. FolderJumps to the first image in each folder. MovieJumps to a movie. By 10 imagesJumps over 10 images at a time. By 100 imagesJumps over 100 images at a time. 1In single image playback mode, press and hold the button. zThe camera will switch to jump search mode. 2Use the or button to select a search key. zThe screen sample will vary slightly according to the search key. zYou can configure image information to show/hide in the (Set-up) Menu with the [Info Display] option (p. 26). 3Display the Images. z/ : press the or button. Playback/Erasing 71 To Return to Single Image Playback Press the MENU button. zThe defined playback mode will be canceled under the following circumstances. - When newly saving images with effects added using the My Colors function, and edited movies - When images are deleted using [Erase] from the (Play) menu zYou cannot switch to the defined playback mode when classifying categories. z///: use the or button to select date, category, folder or movie for playback and press the FUNC./SET button. - The camera will switch to defined playback mode and play back only images corresponding to the search key. - Press and hold the MENU button to cancel defined playback mode.Select the search key
72 Viewing Movies Movies cannot be played in the index playback mode. 1Display a movie and press . zImages with a icon are movies. 2Select (Play) and press . zThe movie will pause if you press the FUNC./SET button during playback. It will resume when you press the button again. zWhen playback ends, the movie stops at the last frame displayed. Press the FUNC./SET button to display the movie control panel. zYou can configure image information to show/hide in the (Set-up) Menu with the [Info Display] option (p. 26). zIf playback was halted partway through in the prior viewing session, playback will resume from the last frame displayed. Playback/Erasing 73 Operating the Movie Control Panel zUse the television’s controls to adjust the volume when playing a movie on a TV set (p. 97). zThe sound cannot be played in slow motion playback. Ends playback and returns to single image playback Print (An icon will display when a printer is connected. See the Direct Print User Guide for details.) Play Slow Motion Playback (You can use the button to slow down or the button to speed up playback.) 74 You can delete portions of recorded movies. Editing Movies Protected movies and movies 1 second or less in duration cannot be edited. 1Select (Edit) in the movie control panel and press . zThe movie editing panel and the movie editing bar will display. 2Use the or button to select (Cut Beginning) or (Cut End) and the or button to specify the cut point( ). zTo check a temporarily edited movie, select (Play) and press the FUNC./SET button. zSelecting (Exit) cancels the edit and restores the movie control panel. 3Select (Save) and press . Playback/Erasing 75 It may take approximately 3 minutes to save an edited movie. If the battery runs out of charge partway through, edited movie clips cannot be saved. When editing movies, it is recommended to use a fully charged battery (Basic Guide p. 8). 4Select [New File] or [Overwrite] and press . z[New File] saves the edited movie under a new file name. The pre-edit data is left unchanged. Note, if you press the FUNC./SET button while saving the movie, saving is canceled. z[Overwrite] saves the edited movie with its original name. The pre-edit data is lost. zWhen there is not enough space left on the memory card, only [Overwrite] can be selected.
76 Images can be rotated clockwise 90° or 270° in the display. Rotating Images in the Display 1 (Play) Menu . See Menus and Settings (p. 23). 2Use the or button to select an image to rotate and press to rotate it. zCycle through the 90°/270°/original orientations with each press of the FUNC./SET button. zThis also can be set in the index playback mode. When images are downloaded to a computer, the orientation of images rotated by the camera will depend upon the software used to download the images. Original 90° 270°
Playback/Erasing 77 You can select the transition effect displayed when switching between images. Playback with Transition Effects Standard display. The displayed image darkens and the next image gradually brightens until it is displayed. 78 You can add effects to recorded images (stills only) using the My Colors function. The following selection of My Colors effects is available. For details, see p. 54. While the image is zoomed, you can press the or button to switch between the image transformed with the My Colors effect and the original non-transformed image.
