Soon, youÕll recognize the unusual fax tones on your phone line, and be able to send and receive faxes easily. 2 - 2 ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTIONS Choosing a Location Place your FAX/MFC on a flat, stable surface, such as a desk. Select a place that is free of vibration and shocks. Locate the FAX/MFC near a telephone jack and a standard, grounded power outlet. Make sure nothing blocks the flow of air from the fan on the right side of the FAX/MFC. ASSEMBLY AND CONNECTIONS 2 - 3 Assembly Installing the Drum Unit Assembly (with Toner Cartridge) 1Unpack the drum unit assembly, including the toner cartridge, and gently rock it from side to side five or six times to distribute toner evenly inside the cartridge. To prevent damage to the drum, do NOT expose it to light for longer than a few minutes. Do NOT remove the starter sheetÑthis will be eject- ed while the FAX/MFC is warming up. Starter Sheet

Connect the curled handset cord to the bottom of the handset and the left side of the FAX/MFC. 2Connect the power cord.
