Adding a New Group
You can set up a group of multiple recipients.
1Click Group.
The Group Setting dialog box appears.
2In the Group Name field, type a name for your Group. 
3From the Stored Fax Numbers box select the recipients for your Group, and 
then click  .
Your selection will appear in the box under the Group Name field.
4Click OK.

Using Brother TWAIN Scanner Driver with 
Your Apple® Macintosh®
The Brother MFC software includes a TWAIN Scanner driver for Macintosh®. 
This Macintosh® TWAIN Scanner driver can be used with application that 
supports the TWAIN specification. You can use PaperPort® for scanning.

Accessing the Scanner
Run your PaperPort® software. You will see the PaperPort® icon in the upper 
right hand corner of your screen. The first time you use the Brother TWAIN 
driver, set it as the default by choosing the Select Source, then click the 
PaperPort® icon. Afterward, for each original you scan choose Acquire Image 
by clicking the 
PaperPort® icon. The Scanner setup dialog box will appear.

Resolution
Choose the scanning resolution from the Resolution pop-up menu. Higher 
resolutions take more memory and transfer time, but can achieve a finer scanned 
image. (Each model has different resolutions. See Specification.) 
Color Type
Black & White—Set the image Type to Black&White for text or line art. For 
photographic images, set the image type to Gray (Error diffusion) or True...

Scanning Area
Set the Size to one of the following:
• Letter (8.5 × 11 inches)
• A4 (210 × 297 mm)
• Legal (8.5 × 14 inches)
• A5 (148 × 210 mm)
• B5 (182 × 257 mm)
• Executive (7.25 × 10.5 inches)
• Business Card (90 × 60 mm)
• Custom (User adjustable from 0.35 × 0.35 inches to 8.5 × 14 inches)

Adjust Image
Brightness
Adjust the brightness settings to obtain the best image. The Brother TWAIN 
Scanner driver offers 100 brightness settings (-50 to 50). The default value is 0, 
representing an “average” setting.
You can set the Brightness level by dragging the slidebar to the right to lighten 
the image or to the left to darken the image. You can also type a value in the box 
to set the setting. Click OK.

Perceptual Matching—All the colors of a given gamut are scaled proportionally

PreScanning an Image
PreScanning allows you to scan an image quickly at a low resolution. A 
thumbnail version will appear in the Scanning Area. This is only a preview of 
the image, so you can see how it will look. The PreScan button is used to 
preview an image for any unwanted portions. When you are satisfied with the 
preview, click Start to scan the image.
