Driver and Software 76 3 BRPrint Auditor (for Windows®)3 The BRPrint Auditor software brings the monitoring power of Brother network management tools to locally connected machines. This utility allows a client computer to collect usage and status information from a machine connected via the parallel or USB interface. The BRPrint Auditor can then pass this information to another computer on the network running BRAdmin Professional 3 or Web BRAdmin 1.45 or greater. This allows the administrator to check items such as page counts, toner and drum status and the firmware version. In addition to reporting to Brother network management applications this utility can E-mail the usage and status information directly to a predefined E-mail address in a CSV or XML file format (SMTP Mail support required). The BRPrint Auditor utility also supports E-mail notification for reporting warning and error conditions. Web Based Management (web browser)3 Web Based Management (web browser) is a utility for managing network connected Brother devices, using the HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol). This utility can view the status of Brother products on your network and configure the machine or network settings using a standard web browser that is installed on your computer. When you use the parallel interface, you can turn the high-speed and bi-directional parallel communications on or off by using the control panel buttons to access PARALLEL in the INTERFACE menu. (See Menu table on page 89.) Note This function takes a few seconds to work. If you want to speed up printing, choose the required interface manually by using the control panel to access SELECT in the INTERFACE menu. Control Panel 79 4 Buttons4 You can control the basic printer operations and change various printer settings with seven buttons (Go,Job Cancel , Secure Print, +, -, Back,Set ). buttonOperations GoClear error messages. Pause and continue printing. Reprint the last job. Job CancelStop and cancel the printing job in progress. Secure PrintChoose the Secure Print menu. +Scroll forward through menus and the available options. Enter numbers and increase the number. -Scroll backward through menus and the available options. Enter numbers and decrease the number. BackGo back one level in the menu structure. SetChoose the control panel menu. Set the chosen menus and settings.
Control Panel 80 4 Go4 Pressing Go will exit the control panel menu and return the printer to the READY state, however, if there is an ERROR indication, the control panel will only change when the error is cleared. You can pause printing by pressing Go. Pressing Go again restarts the print job. During a pause, the printer is offline. If data remains in the printer memory, pressing Go will print that remaining data. You can clear some error indications by pressing Go. Follow the control panel instructions or see Identifying your problem on page 127 to clear all other errors. Note • The options you have chosen are shown with an asterisk at the end of the display. Since the asterisk shows what you have chosen, you can easily see the current settings as you look through the LCD. • If the printer is in Pause mode and you do not want to print the data left, press Job Cancel. Once the job has been canceled, the printer will return to the READY state. Job Cancel4 You can cancel the processing or printing of data by pressing Job Cancel. The LCD shows CANCEL PRINTING until the job is cancelled. After canceling the job, the printer returns to the READY state. To delete all jobs, press Job Cancel for about 4 seconds. The LCD shows CANCEL ALL JOBS. After canceling all jobs, the LCD shows READY. When the printer is not receiving data or printing, the LCD shows No Data!!! and you cannot cancel the job. Secure Print4 If you want to print secure data protected by a password, press Secure Print. For details, see Printing Secure data on page 86. + or - button4 Moving through menus on the LCD4 Pressing + or - when the printer is in the READY state, takes it offline and the LCD will show the control panel menu. Press to scroll through the menus and options. Press the button until you see the setting you want. Entering numbers4 You can enter numbers in two ways. You can press + or - to move up or down one number at a time, or you can hold down + or - to move faster. When you see the number you want, press Set.
