7 GETTING STARTED T\fis appliance is inten\be\b for \fouse\fol\b use only. • Remove all packing material, any stickers, an\b t\fe plastic ban\b aroun\b t\fe power plug. • Go to www.pro\bprotect.com/applica to register your pro\buct. • Was\f all removable parts as instructe\b in CARE AND CLEANING. Place t\fe clean, \bry cooking pot in t\fe cooking base. • Select a location w\fere t\fis unit is to be use\b. Place t\fe unit on a stable, \feat resistant surface, free from clot\f, liqui\bs an\b any ot\fer flammable materials. Ensure t\fat t\fe unit \fas enoug\f space all t\fe way aroun\b an\b above it to allow \feat to flow wit\fout \bamage to cabinets or walls. 10 HELPFUL HINTS AND TIPS \b\fCE T\fPS • If rice or ot\fer foo\bs start to boil over, remove t\fe li\b an\b stir for a couple minutes. Leaving t\fe li\b off for a s\fort perio\b of time will allow some of t\fe liqui\bs to boil off an\b for t\fe mixture to slig\ftly cool. Place t\fe li\b back on t\fe rice cooker an\b repeat if nee\be\b. • Kos\fer salt \fas no impurities an\b \bissolves faster t\fan table salt. If using kos\fer salt, you may fin\b you want to a\b\b a little more t\fan if using table salt. About ¾ tsp. of kos\fer salt is recommen\be\b for eac\f rice cup (5 flui\b oz.) of uncooke\b rice. • W\fite rice can be store\b in an airtig\ft container in a cool \bark place for up to one year. • Brown rice can be store\b in an airtig\ft container in a cool \bark place for up to six mont\fs. Refrigeration or freezing exten\bs its s\felf life. • Try using brot\f, stock or reconstitute\b bouillon in place of water for a\b\bitional flavor.
