Use handles or knobs. ❑ To protect against risk of electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug or any non-removable parts of this oven in water or other liquid. ❑ Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. ❑ Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts. ❑ Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or is dropped or damaged in any manner. Return the appliance to the nearest authorized service facility for examination, repair, or electrical or mechanical adjustment. Or, call the appropriate toll-free number listed on the cover of this manual. ❑ The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries. ❑ Do not use outdoors. ❑ Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces. ❑ Do not place on or near a hot gas or electrical burner, or in a heated oven. ❑ Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquid. ❑ To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove plug from wall outlet. ❑ Do not use appliance for other than intended use. ❑ Oversized foods or metal utensils must not be inserted in this appliance, as they may create a fire or risk of electric shock. ❑ A fire may occur if the toaster oven is covered or touching flammable material including curtains, draperies, walls and the like, when in operation. Do not store any item on top of unit when in operation. ❑ Do not clean with metal scouring pads. Pieces can break off the pad and touch electrical parts resulting in a risk of electric shock. ❑ Extreme caution should be used when using containers constructed of other than metal or glass. ❑ Do not store any material, other than manufacturer's recommended accessories, in this oven when not in use. ❑ Do not place any of the following materials in the oven: paper, cardboard, plastic wrap and the like. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feature. Improper connection of the grounding conductor may result in the risk of electric shock. Consult a qualified electrician if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is properly grounded. ELECTRICAL CORD a) A short power-supply cord is to be provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord. b) Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use. c) If an extension cord is used, 1) The marked electrical rating of the cord set or extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance, and 2) The cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over unintentionally. If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should be done only by authorized service personnel. Note: If the power supply cord is damaged, it should be replaced by qualified personnel or in Latin America by an authorized service center. ❑ Do not cover crumb tray or any parts of the oven with metal foil. This will cause overheating of the oven. ❑ To stop toasting, broiling or baking turn the controls to OFF. ❑ Use extreme caution when removing tray or disposing of hot grease.

BROILING TIPS (O) • Placing food on broil rack allows the drippings to flow into the drip tray pan and helps to eliminate or prevent smoking from the broiler. • To prevent grease dripping onto the heating elements, be sure food does not extend past the edges of the drip tray. • Be sure the top of the food is at least 1½ inches from the top heating element. • For best results, thaw frozen meat, poultry and fish before broiling. • If frozen steaks and chops are broiled, allow 1½ to 2 times the broiling time as required for fresh. • Trim excess fat from meat and score edges to prevent curling. • Brush foods to be broiled with sauce or oil and season as desired before broiling. • Fish fillets and steaks are delicate and should be broiled on bake pan without the broil rack. • There is no need to turn fish fillets during broiling. Carefully turn thick fish steaks midway through broiling cycle. • If broiler “pops” during broiling, reduce the temperature or lower the food in the oven. Important: Wash broiler pan and clean inside of oven after each use with nonabrasive cleaner and hot water. Too much grease accumulation will cause smoking. 450 O BROILING GUIDE: FOOD WEIGHT BROILING APPROXIMATE PROCEDURE TEMPERATURE COOKING TIME Breaded Chicken Cutlets or Tenderloins Chicken Parts Fish fillets, such as salmon or tilapia Broiled vegetables Shell or nY strip steak 1 to 6 1 to 4 1 to 3 3½ to 4½ lb. 1 to 2, about 8 oz., each 375°F 375°F 400°F 350°F 450°F Chicken should register 180°F on meat thermometer Chicken should register 180°F on meat thermometer Internal temperature of 145°F or flake easily when tested with fork Internal temperature of 160°F for medium Internal temperature of 160°F for medium 12 to 15 minutes Turn over halfway through broiling 20 to 25 minutes Turn over halfway through broiling 10 to 12 minutes 10 to 12 minutes Turn over halfway through broiling 18 minutes to medium Turn over halfway through broiling

1615 TROUBLE SHOOTING PROBLEMPOSSIBLE CAUSESOLUTION Oven is not heating or stops heating.Oven is not plugged in or outlet is not working.Check that the temperature and time settings have been properly entered and that the digital display is lit and shows the oven is in preheat or has reached preset temperature. Check that outlet is working. Second toasting is too dark.Setting on toast is too dark. When doing repeated toast cycles, remember to select a slightly lighter setting for the 2nd and 3rd toasting. Moisture forms on the inside of the glass door during toasting. The amount of moisture differs in different products, whether bread, bagels or frozen pastries. The moisture that forms on the door is common and usually disappears before the final 30% of the toasting cycle. As this oven is a closed appliance, the moisture cannot evaporate as it would in a traditional toaster. Food is overcooked or undercooked.Temperature and cook time may need to be adjusted.Since the toaster oven is much smaller than a conventional oven, it may cook faster. Try lowering the temperature setting 25 degrees from the suggested setting in a recipe or label directions. There is burnt food odor or smoking when oven is being used. There are remnants of food in crumb tray or on the walls of the oven. Refer to the directions in Care & Cleaning in this booklet. Make sure all parts of the oven are clean and free of debris. Heating elements do not seem to be on.The heating elements cycle on and off during baking.Check toaster oven to make sure proper function is selected. On Broil, only the top heating elements will be on. RECIPES SPINACH PESTO QUICHE 1 single crust pie or refrigerated pie crust 5 large eggs 1½ cups milk 3 tbsp. basil pesto ¼ tsp. garlic pepper 1 pkg.
