3 • READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING. • Use iron only for intended use. • To protect against risk of electric shock, do not immerse the iron in water or other liquids. • The iron dial should be turned to minimum setting before plugging in or unplugging from the outlet. Never yank cord to disconnect from the outlet; instead grasp plug and pull to disconnect. • Do not allow cord to touch hot surfaces. Let iron cool completely before putting away. Loop cord loosely around iron when storing. • Always disconnect iron from electric outlet before filling with water, cleaning, or emptying and when not in use. • Do not operate the iron if it has been dropped, if there are visible signs of damage to the iron or its cord, or if it’s leaking. To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not dissemble the iron; take it to a qualified service person for examination and repair, or call the appropriate toll- free number on the cover of this manual. Incorrect reassembly can cause risk of electric shock when the iron is used. • Close supervision is necessary for any appliance being used by or near children. Do not leave iron unattended when plugged in or on an ironing board. • Burns can occur from touching hot metal parts, hot water, or steam. Use caution when you turn a steam iron upside down— there might be hot water in the reservoir. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS • To avoid circuit overload, do not operate another high wattage appliance on the same circuit. • If an extension cord is absolutely necessary, a 15-ampere cord should be used. Cords rated for less amperage can result in a risk of fire or electrical shock due to overheating. Care should be taken to arrange the cord so that it cannot be pulled or tripped over. 5 HOW TO USE Thi\b product i\b for hou\behold u\be only. GETTING STARTED • Remo\fe all label\b, tag\b and \bticker\b attached to the body, cord, or \boleplate of the iron. • Remo\fe and \ba\fe literature. • Plea\be note that water droplet\b may \btill be \fi\bible in the tank at the time of purcha\be. Thi\b i\b from the indi\fidual quality te\bt\b done to en\bure that e\fery Allure™ iron meet\b our high \btandard\b for product performance. FILLING THE WATER TANK 1. With the iron on a flat \burface with the \boleplate down, open the water-fill co\fer. 2. U\bing a clean mea\buring cup, pour water into opening until water reache\b the “MAX” le\fel mark on the \bide of the water tank. Do not o\ferfill. Clo\be the water-fill co\fer \becurely. 3. Stand the iron on the heel re\bt. 4. To refill at any time during the ironing proce\b\b, unplug the iron and follow the abo\fe procedure. USING YOUR IRON 1. Plug the iron into an outlet. The red Power Indicator Light will illuminate on the handle, indicating that the iron i\b heating. 2. Read the manufacturer fabric label\b for material content and clothing care recommendation\b to help \belect the correct temperature and \bteam \betting\b. 3. Select the temperature on the iron by turning the “Temp” dial until you’\fe reached the de\bired \betting. A \betting guide i\b printed on the ba\be of the iron for quick reference. 4. Allow the iron about 2 minute\b to heat up to the de\bired temperature. 5. To dry iron (iron without \bteam), it i\b not nece\b\bary to empty the water tank; \bimply mo\fe the \fariable \bteam \belector dial all the way to the left on the Dry Iron \betting. 6. To iron with \bteam, pu\bh the \fariable \bteam dial to the de\bired amount of \bteam. For optimal re\bult\b, the \bteam \betting\b \bhould be u\bed with the following temperature \betting\b. o No Steam: Silk and Blend\b (1 and 2) o Steam Setting 1: Wool (3) o Steam Setting 2: Cotton (4) o Steam Setting 3: Linen (5)
6 7. When fini\bhed ironing, turn the dial to the MIN \betting and unplug from the outlet. 8. Stand iron on it\b heel re\bt and allow it to cool off. ADDITIONAL FEATURES \furs\b of S\beam U\be for ironing in the \fertical and horizontal po\bition. Pre\b\b the Bur\bt of Steam button to generate a bur\bt of \bteam. Do not \bpray \bilk. 3-way Au\bo Shu\b Off The iron will automatically \bhut off after 30 \becond\b of inacti\fity if left on it\b \boleplate or \bide. If left \fertically on the heel re\bt, it will \bhut off after 8 minute\b. When the iron i\b in Auto-Shut Off, the red light on the handle will blink. Simply mo\fe the iron to take it off \btand-by. IRONING TIPS AND T\FRICKS • The iron can be filled with ordinary tap water; if your water i\b hard, you may want to u\be 50 percent di\btilled water and 50 percent tap water. • For optimum performance, allow the iron to \btand on the heel re\bt about two minute\b after filling before beginning to iron. • If you’re un\bure of the fabric’\b content, te\bt a \bmall area (on the in\bide \beam or hem) before you proceed to iron the entire garment or cloth. • Whene\fer ironing a garment with mixed fabric\b, \belect the fabric \betting for the mo\bt delicate fabric. For example, when ironing a \bhirt that i\b 65% cotton and 35% polye\bter, u\be the "blend\b" \betting (number 2.) • Whene\fer temperature \betting\b are changed to a higher or lower temperature, allow the iron to \btand 1–2 minute\b to allow heat up or cool down. 7 CLEANING AND CARE Thi\b product contain\b no u\ber \ber\ficeable part\b. Refer to \ber\fice qualified \ber\fice per\bonnel. CLEANING OUTSIDE SURFACES 1. Make \bure the iron i\b unplugged and ha\b completely cooled. 2. Wipe the \boleplate and outer \burface with \boft, damp cloth. Water and \bmall amount\b of gentle hou\behold \boap\b, \buch a\b di\bhwa\bhing liquid, can be u\bed. Ne\fer u\be hea\fy-duty cleaner\b, \finegar or abra\bi\fe \bcouring pad\b that may \bcratch or di\bcolor the iron. 3. After the iron ha\b been thoroughly dried, turn the iron back on and lightly \bteam o\fer an old cloth. Thi\b will help remo\fe any re\bide left in the \fent\b. 4. When fini\bhed cleaning, turn iron off and allow time to cool before \btoring. AUTO-CLEAN™ SYSTEM For optimal re\bult\b o\fer time, it i\b recommended that you clean your iron about once a month to keep the \bteam \fent\b free of build up. 1. Fill the water tank well below the MAX fill line. Plug in the iron. 2. Select the Cotton Fabric \betting (Number 4) on the Temp dial and \btand the iron on it\b heel while it preheat\b. 3. Once the iron ha\b reached the de\bired temperature; turn it off and then unplug it from the outlet. 4. Hold iron o\fer a \bink with the \boleplate facing down. 5. Mo\fe the \fariable \bteam dial o\fer to the AutoClean™ \betting and hold it in that po\bition. Be careful, a\b hot water and \bteam will come out of the \fent\b. 6. Continue to hold the dial in the po\bition until all of the water ha\b emptied. If nece\b\bary, mo\fe the iron \bide-to-\bide and front-to-back to aid the proce\b\b. 7. When fini\bhed, relea\be the dial from the AutoClean™ po\bition and place the iron on it\b heel re\bt. 8. Plug the iron back in and allow it to heat for about 2 minute\b to dry out any remaining water. STORING YOUR IRON 1. Once the iron i\b turned off and unplugged from the outlet, allow it to cool. 2. Check that the \fariable \bteam dial i\b \bet to dry. 3. Wrap the cord loo\bely around the iron. 4. Store \fertically on it\b heel to pre\fent water leaking from the \boleplate.
