    Opening Your Gallery
    Gallery helps you view pi\&ctures and play vid\&eos. You 
    can also do some ba\&sic editin\b of your\& pictures—such 
    as settin\b them as wallpaper or contact\& icons, and 
    sharin\b with friend\&s.
    Making Memorable M\Gemos 
    Sound Recorder enables you to rec\&ord your voice 
    memos. You need a microSD c\&ard to use it.
    1.   Press the Home Key > 
     > Sound Recorder.
    2.  Tap 
     to start recordin\b.\&
    3.  Tap 
     to stop recordin\b.
    4.  Tap 
     to play back the v\&oice recordin\b.
    5.    Tap OK to save the voice \&recordin\b, or tap Discard 
    to delete the record\&in\b.
    TIP: You can find your re\&cordin\bs by pressin\&\b 
    the Home Key >  > Music > Playlists > 
    My recordings.
    Tap to return to the \&
    previous folder.

    Si\bnin\b in to your G\&oo\ble account lets y\&ou synchronize 
    Gmail, Calendar, and Contacts betwee\&n your phone and 
    the web. And if you don\ft ha\&ve an account, you can 
    easily create one.
    1.   Tap a Goo\ble applica\&tion that needs a Go\&o\ble 
    account, such as Market.
    2.  Read the instruction\&s and select Next.
    3.    If you already hav\&e a Goo\ble account,\& tap Sign 
    in. Enter your user nam\&e and password. Then tap 
    Sign in. (Or tap Create if you don\ft have \&a 
    Goo\ble account.)
    4.    Set up the backup a\&nd restore option, and tap  
    Next > Finish setup.
    Gmail™
    Gmail is a web-base\&d email service tha\&t\fs confi\bured 
    when you si\bn in to\& your Goo\ble accoun\&t. Dependin\b 
    on your synchroniz\&ation settin\bs, the Gmail account 
    on your phone can \&be automatically syn\&chronized with 
    your Gmail account \&on the web.
    Creating and \fending \GGmail
    1.    Open Gmail by pressin\b the Home Key >  
    > Gmail.
    2.  Press the Menu Key > Compose.
    3.    Enter the email addre\&ss of the person yo\&u\fre 
    contactin\b in the \bo field. If you\fre sendin\b the 
    email to several people, separate the email 
    addresses with comma\&s. You can add as many \&
    recipients as you w\&ant. 4.
     Enter the email subje\&ct, and then write you\&r email.
    5.    Tap

    Using Google Calend\Gar™
      Press the Home Key >  > Calendar to use Goo\ble 
    Calendar, Goo\ble\fs time mana\bement app\&lication. 
    You can use the cale\&ndar to schedule ap\&pointments, 
    includin\b meetin\bs and other events. Your appointments 
    will be displayed \&on the screen as sc\&heduled. You can 
    also synchronize a\&ppointments to your \&Goo\ble account, 
    which enables you \&to mana\be your sched\&ule online on 
    your PC.
    Using Google Talk™
    Goo\ble Talk is Goo\ble\fs instant messa\bin\b p\&ro\bram, 
    which enables you \&to communicate with o\&ther people 
    who also use it.
    Opening Google Talk
    Press the Home Key >  > \balk.
    Adding a New Friend
    You can only add pe\&ople who have a Go\&o\ble account. 
    1.    In the Friends list, press the Menu Key > Add 
    friend.
    2.    Enter the Goo\ble acco\&unt of the friend y\&ou want  
    to add and tap Send invitation.
    Your friend will re\&ceive an invitation\& from Goo\ble.  
    Press the Menu Key > More > Invites to see 
    pendin\b invitations.

    Google Latitude™
    Goo\ble\fs Latitude service \&is a social tool fo\&r sharin\b 
    your location infor\&mation with selected\& friends. 
    Press the Home Key > 
     > Latitude to enable 
    Latitude service.
    Each time you launch\& the Maps applicati\&on, your 
    location will be de\&termined usin\b GPS o\&r the phone 
    network, and your Latitude \&status will be upda\&ted. 
    You can press the Menu Key > Latitude in Maps or 
    Home Key > 
     > Latitude to see your status \&as 
    well as that of you\&r selected friends.
    In Latitude, press the Menu Key to refresh friends\& 
    status, see them on Maps, add new friends, or chan\be  
    privacy settin\bs.
    You can also turn of\&f Latitude service \&by tappin\b  
    Sign out of Latitu\1de in Privacy settin\bs of Latitude.
    C\banging Your Online \ftatus 
    1.  Tap the Talk status bar abov\&e the Friends list.
    2.    Tap 
     to chan\be status an\&d then enter your 
    status messa\be in the\& text box.

    1.  Tap a friend in the \&Friends list.
    2.    Chat with your frie\&nd by enterin\b text \&in the  
    messa\be box.
    3.  Tap Send.
    Google Places™
    Goo\ble Places helps\& you find all kinds\& of businesses 
    near you.
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security and tap the Use GPS satellites\1 or Use 
    wireless networks check box.
    2.    Press the Home Key > 
     > Places. Wait while 
    your location is fo\&und. Your location will b\&e shown 
    at the top of the sc\&reen.
    3.    Select a business c\&ate\bory and the info\&rmation on 
    that type of busines\&s near you will be\& displayed.
        You can also use the\& Find places search box at the 
    top to find the busin\&ess you need.
     
    NOTe: Tap Add to add new busines\&s cate\bories.
    4.    Tap a result you are\& interested in and \&check out the 
    details and reviews\& about that place. You can also 
    see the place on Go\&o\ble Maps, \bet directions, or \bive 
    that business a cal\&l.

    •   Haptic feedback: Vibrate when pressin\b s\&oft keys 
    or on certain user \&interface interactions.
    To quickly switch to\& silent mode, press Volume—or, 
    if the screen is lo\&cked, dra\b 
     to the left.
     
    Language \fettings
    You can chan\be the l\&an\bua\be of your pho\&ne system in 
    two simple steps.
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Language & 
    keyboard > Select language.
    2.  Select a lan\bua\be fr\&om the list \biven.
    \fetting Time and Date
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Date & time.
    2.    Clear the Automatic check box if you want to set 
    the time and date by\& yourself.
    3.  Set date, time, time zone, and date/time forma\&t.
    C\banging Display \fet\Gtings
    By pressin\b the Menu Key > Settings > Display, you 
    can adjust the disp\&lay settin\bs as you \&like:
    •  Brightness: Adjust bri\bhtness of\& the screen.
    •    Auto-rotate screen: Rotate the screen d\&isplay as 
    you rotate the phone\&.
    •  Animation: Choose window anima\&tion.
    •    Screen timeout: Set the delay for th\&e screen to 
    automatically turn o\&ff.

    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Sound to adjust 
    the sound settin\bs, such as settin\b rin\&\btones and 
    volume, turnin\b on silent m\&ode or vibration, allowin\b 
    sound feedback for\& touchin\b keys, makin\b selections 
    and lockin\b the scr\&een.
    •   Silence Ringer When Face Down: Mute the 
    incomin\b call by fli\&ppin\b the phone ove\&r.
    •    Phone ringtone/Not\1ification ringtone:\1 
    Select the default r\&in\btones for incomin\&\b calls

    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Wireless & 
    networks > Mobile networks to enable or disab\&le 
    data service, allow data service\&s when roamin\b, or set 
    access point names \&for data access.

    roaming \fharges.

    Protect your phone \&and SIM card from u\&nauthorized 
    use. 
    Protecting Your P\bone wit\b a 
    \fcreen Unlock Pattern
    Creating Your Screen \fnlock Pattern
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security > Set up screen lock > Pattern.
    2.  Read the instruction\&s and tap Next.
    3.  Watch the example pat\&tern and tap Next. 
    4.    With a fin\ber, draw your own pattern\& and  
    tap Continue.
    5.  Draw the pattern a\bain\& and tap Confirm.
    6.  Press the Power Key to lock the screen\&.
    TIP: Clear the Use visible patter\1n box if you want 
    to hide the pattern \&as you draw it on the screen\&.
    \fnlocking the Screen with Your Pattern
    1.  Press the Power Key to wake up the screen.
    2.  Draw the pattern you s\&et to unlock the scr\&een. If you make a mistake, your phone will a\&sk you to  
    try a\bain.
    Cannot recall your screen unlock pattern?
    You have up to five a\&ttempts to unlock you\&r phone. If 
    you still cannot re\&call the screen unl\&ock pattern, you 
    can tap Forgot pattern? and enter your Goo\&\ble 
    account user name a\&nd password to rese\&t the screen 
    unlock pattern.
    IMPO\fTANT\b You must sign in or\a \freate a Google 
    a\f\fount on your phon\ae before using the \afollowing 
    method to reset th\ae pattern.
    Protecting Your P\bone wit\b a PI\GN 
    or Password
    Creating a PIN or Password
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security > Set up screen lock.
    2.  Tap PIN or Password.
    3.    Enter the numeric PIN\& or any password y\&ou would 
    like, and tap Continue.
    4.  Enter it a\bain and ta\&p OK to confirm.
    \fnlocking the Screen with Your PIN or Password
    1.  Press the Power Key to wake up the phone.
    2.  Dra\b the 
     icon to the ri\bht.
    3.  Enter the PIN or pas\&sword you set.

    Disabling \fcreen Unlock \fecurity
    If you have created\& an unlock pattern,\& PIN or password, 
    you can disable it.\&
    1.   Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security > Change screen lock.
    2.    Draw the screen unloc\&k pattern or enter t\&he  
    PIN/ password you \&have created.
    3.  Tap None.
    Protecting Your \fIM Card  
    wit\b a PIN
    Every SIM card comes\& with a PIN. The initial PIN is 
    provided by your mo\&bile phone carrier\&. It\fs best to lock 
    your SIM card as s\&oon as you can.
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security > Set up SIM card lock.
    2.  Tap the Lock SIM card check box.
    3.  Enter the PIN you\fve \&been \biven and tap \&OK.
    Changing Your SIM Card PIN
    You can chan\be the PIN you\fve been \biven to one easier 
    for you to remember \&and harder for othe\&rs to \buess.
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location & 
    security > Set up SIM card lock.
    2.    Make sure you already\& checked the Lock SIM card 
    check box.
    3.  Tap Change SIM PIN.
    4.  Enter the old PIN an\&d tap OK. 5.
     Enter your new PIN a\&nd tap OK.
    6.  Enter the new PIN a\ba\&in and tap OK.
    Restoring a Locked SIM Card
    Put all your confide\&ntial passwords in \&a safe place for 
    future use. If you enter the w\&ron\b SIM card PIN m\&ore 
    times than allowed, your SIM card wil\&l be locked and 
    you cannot access t\&he mobile phone net\&work. Contact 
    your operator for a PIN Unlo\&ck Key (PUK) to restore\&  
    the SIM card.
    \fetting up Credential \ftorage
    This allows you to s\&elect applications \&to access secure 
    certificates and othe\&r credentials.
    Enabling Secure Credentials
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location 
    & security.
    2.    Tap Set password and create a passw\&ord for the 
    credential stora\be.
    3.  Tap OK.
    TIP: You can also install\& encrypted certifica\&tes from 
    your microSD card b\&y tappin\b Install from SD card.
    Deleting Secure Credentials
    1.    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Location 
    & security.
    2.  Tap Clear storage to clear credentia\&ls.

    Managing Your  
    Device Memory
    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Storage.
    You can view the spa\&ce information of th\&e microSD card 
    as well as the phon\&e stora\be. 
    •   Unmount SD card: You can unmount the c\&ard to 
    safely remove it wi\&thout switchin\b the p\&hone off.
    •  Erase SD card: Erase all data on the\& memory card.
    Privacy: Reset to  
    Factory \fettings
    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Privacy > Factory 
    data reset > Reset phone > Erase everything.
    WA\fNING\b All your personal i\anformation and 
    downloaded appli\fati\aons on your phone \awill be erased 
    after resetting the\a phone.
    Managing Applicatio\Gns
    Press the Menu Key > Settings > Applications.
    •    Manage application\1s: Mana\be or remove 
    installed applicati\&ons.
    •    Running services: Check currently ru\&nnin\b services 
    and stop them if nee\&ded.
    •  Storage use: View stora\be used by applica\&tions.
    •    Development: Set options for app\&lication 
    development. Tap the Unknown sources check box if you want 
    to install applicati\&ons from sources ot\&her than Android 
    Market. Note that you may r\&isk your phone and\& 
    personal data by in\&stallin\b such appli\&cations.
    How to Install an Applic\Gation
    You can install an a\&pplication from the \&Android™ 
    Market (Home Key >  > Market) by selectin\b the 
    item you want to download and\& tappin\b Install > OK.
    You can also install\& a non-Market application. Make 
    sure that you selec\&t an application de\&veloped for your 
    device and process\&or type before inst\&allin\b it.
    1.    Copy the applicatio\&n file to the microSD\& memory 
    card and install th\&e card on your pho\&ne.
    2.    Press the Home Key > 
     > Filer, and open the 
    folder where the ap\&plication file is.
    3.  Tap the file to start \&installation.
    4.    Read the installatio\&n instructions that \&come with the 
    application and fol\&low it to complete th\&e setup.

    You can mana\be searc\&h settin\bs and searc\&h history by 
    openin\b the Google Search application and pr\&essin\b 
    the Menu Key > Search settings.
    • Google search: Adjust Goo\ble searc\&h settin\bs.
    •  Searchable items: Adjust searchin\b. 
    You can also clear \&shortcuts to recentl\&y chosen  
    search su\b\bestions.
    Voice Interaction
    You can set the text-\&to-speech and voice\& reco\bnition 
    options by pressin\b\& the Menu Key > Settings > 
    Voice input & outpu\1t. 
    NOTe: You need to download\& voice data in orde\&r to 
    use the text-to-spee\&ch function. Tap \bext-to-speech 
    settings > Install voice data\1.
    Accessibility
    Confi\bure accessibil\&ity options for acc\&essibility related \&
    applications.
    AT&T \foftware Update
    Update the firmware on your phone \&to the latest 
    available version. Please pay attentio\&n to notes that 
    appear in each step\& durin\b the update p\&rocess.
    About p\bone
    Check system updates\&, phone status and b\&attery use, or 
    view le\bal informati\&on and software versions.

    Alarms
    1. Press the Home Key >  > Alarm.
    2.    Tap the default alar\&m to confi\bure it. Or, to create  
    a new alarm, press the Menu Key > Add alarm.
    3.    Tap \burn on alarm and set up Name, \bime, 
    Repeat, Snooze, Duration, Vibrate, Ringtone, 
    Volume, Volume crescendo, and Delay.
    Docs To Go
    A handy application\& suite that opens Word, Excel, 
    Powerpoint, or PDF files.
    Read the on-screen \&instructions for de\&tailed 
    information.
    Note Pad
    Note pad is for your memos. Press the Menu Key to 
    add or delete them, or to export the te\&xt to a txt file in 
    the microSD memory c\&ard. Press and hold an\& existin\b 
    note to edit, delete, share or export, or to chan\be its 
    title.
    Calculator
    Press the Home Key >  > Calculator.
    TIP: Press the Menu Key > Advanced panel to use 
    scientific calculati\&on.
    \fIM Toolkit
    SIM \boolkit will only appear \&on the screen if yo\&ur SIM 
    card provides this \&function. To use SIM services\&, insert 
    your SIM card in th\&e phone first. 
    Press the Home Key > 
     > SIM \boolkit.
    Task Manager
    Press the Home Key >  > \bask Manager to view 
    or stop application\&s.
    Tap a task in the \bask tab to switch to its\& screen, abort 
    it, or see its detail. Tap Resource to view real-time 
    allocation of syste\&m resources.

    1.  Press the Home Key >  > Stopwatch.
    2.    Tap Start to start timin\b, Pause to pause time, and 
    Resume to continue.
    3.  Reset will take the stopwatch back to 00:00.\&0.
    AT&T Mobile Care
    A\b&\b Mobile Care allows you to \bet i\&nformation on 
    your mobile phone a\&ccount, mana\be your accoun\&t, and 
    add money to your a\&ccount, all ri\bht from your\& phone.
