iMac (20-inch Early 2008) Take Apart — Hard Drive 12 5 Removing the Hard Drive Disconnect the hard drive temperature sensor cable from the top of the logic board. 1. Push HARD on the black plastic clip and in the direction of the logic board to release the 2. hard drive clip from the chassis. Once the clip is released, pull the hard drive toward the top of the chassis to release the hard drive pins from the rubber grommets on the chassis.

If you are replacing the hard drive continue with the procedure. Remove the temperature 5. sensor cable, screws, and screw pins. Transfer them to the replacement drive, and place the new foam gasket, included with the replacement drive, on top of the sensor. 6. iMac (20-inch Early 2008) Take Apart — Hard Drive 12 8 Replacing the Hard Drive If you are installing a new hard drive, transfer the screws, screw pins and temperature sensor 1. cable to the replacement drive. Place the new foam gasket, included with the replacement drive, on top of the sensor. 2. Orient the hard drive with the circuit board side of the hard drive facing up (as shown). Connect the hard drive data and power cables to the hard drive. 3. Line up the two pins on the side of the hard drive with the two rubber grommets/openings 4. in the chassis. Press the hard drive the rest of the way into the rear housing. You will hear a snap when the 5. black plastic clip at the top hard drive clicks into place on the chassis. If the sensor cable was disconnected from the top of the hard drive, peel off the foam gasket, 6. slide the sensor-end of the cable into the sensor holder, and cover the sensor with a new foam gasket included with the replacement hard drive.
