21 1.Remove the food from the refrigerator. Store it in a cool place, well covered. 2.Switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the mains, or switch off or turn out the circuit breaker or fuse. 3.Clean the appliance and the interior accessories with a cloth and luke- warm water with a little bicarbonate of soda added (5ml to 0,5 litres of water). 4.After cleaning wipe withcleanwater and rub dry. 5.After everything is dryreconnect the appliance to the electricity sup- ply. The lowest shelf, dividing the cooler compartment from the LONGFRESH 0°C compartment can be removed for cleaning. To remove pull out the shelf straight. The cover plates above the drawers in the 0°C compartment can be taken out for cleaning. To make sure fully functionality of the LONGFRESH 0°C compartment the cover must be put back in their original position after cleaning. Energy Saving Tips Do not install the appliance near cookers, radiators or other sources of warmth. High ambient temperatures cause longer, more frequent operation of the compressor. Ensure sufficient air circulation and exhaust at the appliance base and at the back wall of the appliance. Never cover air vent openings. Do not place warm foods into the appliance. Allow warm foods to cool first. Only leave door open as long as necessary. Do not set temperature any colder than necessary. What to do if ... Correcting Malfunctions A malfunction may be caused by only a minor fault that you can recti- fy yourself using the following instructions. Do not perform any other work on the appliance if the following information does not provide assistance in your specific case.
22 What to do if... Important!Repairs to refrigerators/freezers may only be performed by competent service engineers. Improper repairs can give rise to signifi- cant hazards for the user. If your appliance needs repairing, please contact your specialist dealer or our local Customer Service. Symptom Appliance does not work. Possible Cause Appliance is not switched on. Mains plug is not plugged in or is loose. Fuse has blown or is defective Socket is defective. Mains malfunctions are to be corrected by an electri- cian. Temperature is set too cold.Press „+“ (WARMER) but- ton. Remedy Switch on the appliance. Insert mains plug. Check fuse, replace if necessary. Appliance cools too much. The refrigerator compart- ment temperature is insuf- ficient. Temperature is not proper- ly adjusted.Please look in the “Starting up and Temperatur regula- tion” section. Light bulb is defective.Interior lighting does not work. Door was open for an extended period. A large quantity of warm food was placed in the appliance within the last 24 hours. The appliance is near a heat source. Open the door only as long as necessary. Press TURBO COOLMATIC button. Please look in the “Installation location” section. Please look in the “Changing the light bulb” section. The compressor does not start immediately after pressing the TURBO COOL- MATIC button, orafter changing the temperature setting. This is normal, no error has occurred.The compressor starts after a period of time. Green light does not light up, yellow light lights up when fast freeze fuction is activa- ted, appliance is on. Green light faulty.Please inform your customer service
23 Appliance cools too much.Temperature is set too cold. Turn the temperature regula- tor to a warmer setting tem- porarily.. MalfunctionPossible CauseRemedy Heavy build up of frost, possi- bly also on the door seal.Door seal is not air tight (pos- sibly after changing over the hinges). Carefully warm the leaking sections of the door seal with a hair dryer (not hotter than approx. 50 °C). At the same time shape the warmed door seal by hand such that it sits correctly. Unusual noises. The appliance is touching the wall or other objects. Appliance is not level. A component, e.g. a pipe, on the rear of the appliance is touching another part of the appliance or the wall.If necessary, carefully bend the component out of the way. Move the appliance slightly. Readjust the feet. If the door remains open for more than 7 min., the light will be switched off by the electronics. This is normal, no error has occurred.Close the door and re-open it, the light will function auto- matically again.
24 Changing the light bulb Warning!There is a risk of electric shocks! Before changing the light bulb, switch off the appliance and unplug it, or disconnect from the mains supply. Light bulb data: 220-240 V, max. 25 W 1.To switch off, press the ON/OFF button until the mains power light extinguishes. 2.Unplug the mains plug. 3.To change the light bulb, press on the rear hook and at the same time slide the light bulb cover in the direction indicated by the arrow. 4.Change the faulty light bulb. 5.Refit the light bulb cover. 6.Put the refrigerator back into opera- tion. 25 Noises during Operation The following noises are characteristic of refrigeration appliances: Clicks Whenever the compressor switches on or off, a click can be heard. Humming As soon as the compressor is in operation, you can hear it humming. Bubbling/Splashing When refrigerant flows into thin tubes, you can hear bubbling or splashing noises. Even after the compressor has been switched off, this noise can be heard for a short time. Rustling Your appliance is equipped with a dynamic air ventilation system. To ensure optimal coolingperformance in the refrigerator and LONGFRESH 0°C compartment the fan is operateswith various power levels. This results in the fan operating at different speeds for differ- ent lengths of time. This is quite normal and not a fault with the appliance. Regulations, Standards, Guidelines This appliance was designed for household use and was manufactured in accordance with the appropriate standards. The necessary measures in accordance with appliance safety legislation regulations (GSG), acci- dent prevention regulations for refrigeration appliances (VBG 20) and the regulations of the German Society of Electrical Engineers (VDE) were observed in the manufacture of this appliance. The refrigerant circuit has been checked for leaks. 26 Technical terminology • Refrigerant Liquids that can be used to a generate a cooling effect are known as refrigerants. They have a relatively low boiling-point, indeed so low, that the warmth from the food stored in the fridge or freezer can cause the refrigerant to boil and vaporise. Circuit Refrigerant Closed circulation system that contains the refrigerant. The refriger- ant circuit comprises primarily of an evaporator, a compressor, a con- denser and pipe work. Evaporator The refrigerant is evaporated in the evaporator. Similar to all other liquids, refrigerant requires heat to evaporate. This heat is removed from the interior of the appliance, as a result the interior is cooled. The evaporator is therefore located inside the appliance or placed in foam immediately behind the inner wall and thus not visible. Compressor The compressor looks like a small drum. It is driven by a built-in elec- tric motor and is mounted on the base of the appliance at the rear. The task of the compressor is to draw in vaporised refrigerant from the evaporator, to compress it, and to pass it on to the condenser. Condenser The condenser normally has the form of a grid. The refrigerant com- pressed in the compressor is liquefied in the condenser. During this process, heat is released to the surrounding air at the surface of the condenser. The condenser is mounted on the base of the appliance.

29 Sicurezza La sicurezza dei nostri frigoriferi è conforme alle regole tecnologiche riconosciute nonché alla legge sulla sicurezza delle apparecchiature elettriche. Tuttavia, ci sentiamo in dovere di ricordare le seguenti avvertenze di sicurezza: Impiego conforme allo scopo previsto Il frigorifero è previsto per l’impiego domestico ed è idoneo al raf- freddamento di commestibili. Il produttore declina qualsiasi respon- sabilità per eventuali danni derivanti da un utilizzo dell’apparecchio diverso dalla destinazione prevista oppure da comandi errati. Per motivi di sicurezza non è consentito in nessun caso apportare delle modifiche o trasformazioni. Nel caso si voglia impiegare lapparecchio refrigerante nellambito imprenditoriale oppure per altri scopi, si prega di osservare le disposi- zioni di legge vigenti per il Vostro settore. Prima della messa in servizio Controllare che l’apparecchio non riporti danni in seguito al traspor- to. Non collegare mai un apparecchio difettoso alla rete di alimenta- zione! In caso di danno, siete pregati di rivolgerVi al fornitore. Assicurarsi, dopo aver installato l’apparecchiatura, che essa non appoggi sul cavo di alimentazione. Importante:se il cavo di alimenta- zione è danneggiato, esso deve essere sostituito dal costruttore o dal suo servizio assistenza tecnica o comunque da una persona con qualifica similare,in modo da prevenire ogni rischio. Fluido refrigerante Lapparecchio nella circolazione della sostanza refrigerante contiene un gas naturale denominato Isobutano (R600a), avente una elevata tolle- ranza per lambiente, il quale è tuttavia infiammabile. Avvertenza- Osservare durante il trasporto e linstallazione dellap- parecchio che non venga danneggiato alcun elemento della circola- zione della sostanza refrigerante. In caso di danneggiamenti alla circolazione della sostanza refrigeran- te: - evitare assolutamente fiamme libere e fonti incendianti; - provvedere ad una buona aerazione del locale in cui si trova lapparecchio. Sicurezza dei bambini I componenti dellimballaggio (p.e. fogli, polistirolo) possono essere fonte di pericolo per i bambini. Pericolo di soffocamento! Tenere il materiale di imballaggio lontano dalla portata dei bambini!
30 Sicurezza Prima di rottamare vecchi frigoriferi non più in uso, si raccomanda di renderli inservibili togliendone la spina e il cavo di rete ed eventual- mente rimuovendone o distruggendone la serratura a scatto o i luc- chetti. In tal modo si eviterà che i bambini, giocando, possano restare imprigionati allinterno dellapparecchio (pericolo di soffocamento!) o si trovino in altre situazioni di pericolo. Questo apparecchio non deve essere utilizzato da persone (e bambini) con ridotte capacità fisiche, sensoriali o mentali o prive dellesperien- za e delle nozioni necessarie, salvo i casi in cui agiscano sotto sorve- glianza o siano stati opportunamente istruiti sulluso di tale apparec- chio da persone responsabili per la loro sicurezza. Evitare che i bam- bini utilizzino lapparecchio in modo improprio.! Nel servizio quotidiano Lazione del freddo può rendere nonermetici i contenitori di gas oppure di liquidi infiammabili. Pericolo di esplosione! Non conservare in frigorifero contenitori di sostanze infiammabili, quali bombolette spray, ricariche per accendini ecc. Avvertenza- Non impiegare mai dei piccoli elettrodomestici (p. es. macchine elettriche da gelato, mescolatori, ecc.) nell’apparecchio refrigerante. Avvertenza- Non occludete mai le fessure di aerazione dei pannelli di rivestimento dell’apparecchio oppure dei mobili da incasso. Prima di procedere alle operazioni di pulizia, disinserire sempre lap- parecchio staccando la spina dalla rete di alimentazione o linterrut- tore generale dellappartamento. Estrarre la spina di rete dalla presa tirando sempre dalla parte della spina, mai dal cavo. In caso di disturbo Qualora l’apparecchio non funzionasse correttamente, consultare dapprima quanto riportato al capitolo“Che cosa fare se ...” delle pre- senti istruzioni per l’uso. Se le istruzioni indicate non fossero di alcun aiuto, non effettuare nessun’altra operazione. I frigoriferi devono essere riparati unicamente da personale specializ- zato. Riparazioni non conformi possono essere fonte di gravi pericoli. Qualora occorresse una riparazione, siete pregati di rivolgerVi al Vostro rivenditore autorizzato oppure al nostro servizio assistenza clienti.
