SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-21 EAS27290 TROUBLESHOOTING Any of the following fail to light: turn signal light, brake light, turn signal indicator light and fuel level warning light. The horn fails to sound. The speedometer does not operate normally. The fuel indicator light does not come on. The coolant temperature warning light does not operate normally. NOTE: Before troubleshooting, remove the following part (s): 1. Seat 2. Side cover (left) 3. Air scoop (left/right) 4. Fuel tank . Check the signaling system The hor n fails to sound. 1. Check the fuses. (Main, ignition, signaling and head- light) Refer to “CHECKING THE FUSES” on page 8-67 .NG → Replace the fuse (s). OK ↓ 2. Check the battery. Refer to “CHECKING AND CHARG- ING THE BATTERY” on page 8-68 .NG → Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. OK ↓ 3. Check the main switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the main switch. OK ↓ 4. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system’s wiring. OK ↓ This circuit is OK. 1. Check the horn switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the left handlebar switch. OK ↓ 2. Check the horn. Refer to “CHECKING THE HORN” on page 8-77 .NG → Replace the horn. OK ↓ 3. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓
SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-22 The br ake light fails to come on. The turn signal light, turn signal indicator light or both fail to blink. The neutral indicator light fails to come. This circuit is OK. 1. Check the front brake light switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the front brake light switch. OK ↓ 2. Check the rear brake light switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the rear brake light switch. OK ↓ 3. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the tail/brake light. 1. Check the turn signal light bulb and socket. Refer to “CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB SOCKETS” on page 8-66 .NG → Replace the turn signal light bulb, socket or both. OK ↓ 2. Check the turn signal switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the left handlebar switch. OK ↓ 3. Check the turn signal relay. Refer to “CHECKING THE RELAYS” on page 8-71 .NG → The turn signal relay is faulty and must be replaced. OK ↓ 4. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the meter assembly. 1. Check the neutral switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the neutral switch. OK ↓ 2. Check the diode. Refer to “CHECKING THE DIODE” on page 8-73 .NG → Replace the relay unit (Starting circuit cut-off relay). OK ↓
SIGNALING SYSTEM 8-23 The speedometer fails to operate. The fuel level warning light fails to come. The coolant temperature warning light fails to operate. 3. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the meter assembly. 1. Check the speed sensor. Refer to “CHECKING THE SPEED SENSOR” on page 8-77 .NG → Replace the speed sensor. OK ↓ 2. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the meter assembly. 1. Check the fuel sender. Refer to “CHECKING THE FUEL SENDER (FUEL PUMP)” on page 8-78 .NG → Replace the fuel pump assembly. OK ↓ 2. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the meter assembly. 1. Check the coolant temperature sen- sor. Refer to “CHECKING THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR” on page 8-78 .NG → Replace the coolant temperature sensor. OK ↓ 2. Check the entire signaling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-19 .NG → Properly connect or repair the signaling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the meter, ECU or both.

COOLING SYSTEM 8-27 EAS27320 TROUBLESHOOTING The radiator fan fails to operate. NOTE: Before troubleshooting, remove the following part (s): 1. Seat 2. Side cover (left) 3. Air scoop (left/right) 4. Fuel tank 5. Radiator cover 6. Drain the coolant. 1. Check the fuses. (Main, ignition and radiator fan fuse) Refer to “CHECKING THE FUSES” on page 8-67 .NG → Replace the fuse (s). OK ↓ 2. Check the battery. Refer to “CHECKING AND CHARG- ING THE BATTERY” on page 8-68 .NG → Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. OK ↓ 3. Check the main switch. Refer to “CHECKING THE SWITCHES” on page 8-63 .NG → Replace the main switch. OK ↓ 4. Check the radiator fan motor relay. Refer to “CHECKING THE RELAYS” on page 8-71 .NG → Replace the radiator fan motor relay. OK ↓ 5. Check the radiator fan motor. Refer to “CHECKING THE RADIATOR FAN MOTOR” on page 8-79 .NG → The radiator fan motor is faulty and must be replaced. OK ↓ 6. Check the coolant temperature. Refer to “CHECKING THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR” on page 8-78 .NG → Replace the coolant temperature sensor. OK ↓ 7. Check the entire cooling system ’ s wiring. Refer to “CIRCUIT DIAGRAM” on page 8-25 .NG → Properly connect or repair the cooling system ’ s wiring. OK ↓ Replace the ECU.
