    T29: mLAN Check
    Initial Screen:

    Description:
    Tests signal exchanges with a mLAN board (mLAN8E)
    connected to mLAN I/F.
    For this test, instruct the mLAN board to execute the
    following items successively:
    1. Board connection test: Check to see whether an mLAN
    board exists or not.
    2. Entering board test mode: Instruct the mLAN board to
    execute the test.
    3. MEL output test: Switch the sound source clock to that
    from mLAN and test the MEL output (4 lines) from the
    unit as follows: Outputs sine waves from the unit to the
    four lines of output successively and make sure the
    mLAN board receiving the output stays at the specified
    level.
    4. MEL input test: Test the MEL input (1 line) from the
    mLAN board to unit as follows: (1) Outputs a sine wave
    from the unit to the mLAN board. (2) The mLAN board
    relays the signal to the MEL input of the unit. (3) The
    unit D/A converts the signal to output to STEREO OUT.
    5. Board reset: Initializes the mLAN board.

    Displays the conclusion and exits from the test.
    Others:
    After completing Factory Set, the following data is set.
    System Setup: Set to the initial data contained in the

    Factory-shipped MODE, timbre, etc.: Mode is set to Voice
    Mode. The Voice number is set to PRE1 A01(1).

    As exiting from the test mode, the normal power-up
    sequence is performed.
    Make sure that the ON/OFF click noise of the unit power
    switch conforms to the following:
    OUTPUT-R and L: 500mv-pp or less
    ASSIGNABLE OUTPUT-L/R: 500mv-pp or less
    PHONES-R and L: 500mv-pp or less
    Set the unit to the factory settings and exit from the test to
    enter the VOICE PLAY mode. Make sure that the noise
    level before activating notes conforms to the following:
    NoiseLevel: Measure using a level indicator (with JIS-C filter). Do
    not insert a Plug-in Board.

    A card or disk is not properly inserted in or connected to the MOTIF.
    The card or disk is not formatted, or the format is unusable by the MOTIF. Check the card/disk contents.
    The card or disk is write protected, or you have attempted to write to a read-only medium such as CD-ROM.
    The format type of the SCSI disk or Memory card is wrong.
    The file specified for loading is unusable by the MOTIF.
    The specified file name is unacceptable. Try entering a different name.
    You have attempted to delete, rename, or overwrite a read-only file.
    No more directories can be created below the current level.
    Directories below this level cannot be accessed.
    The file format type is not supported by the MOTIF.
    A SCSI error has occurred. Check the SCSI connections and termination.
    An error occurred while reading or writing to/from SCSI disk or Memory card.
    The file associated with the file to be loaded cannot be found (e.g., Sample voice files associated with the Song or Pattern file).
    You attempt to delete a folder that contains data.
    The disk (memory card or SCSI device connected to the MOTIF) is not supported by the MOTIF.
    The internal memory for Sequence data is full. The internal memory for Sequence data is full, preventing any further 
    operation (such as recording, editing, Job execution, MIDI reception/transmission, or loading from Memory card or SCSI 
    drive). Try again after erasing unwanted song, pattern, or user phrase data.
    You have attempted to record a pattern track to which a preset phrase is assigned. If you wish to use a preset phrase as 
    a starting data for pattern recording, copy it to a user phrase before recording.
    When a Song/Pattern Job is executed, the selected track or range contains no data. Select an appropriate track or range.
    No check boxes have been checked in a Sequencer track Job which requires a check box selection. Check the
    appropriate check box.
    Exclusive data has been entered or changed without the necessary “End of Exclusive” byte (F7). Make sure F7 is 
    included.
    The Multi-Part Plug-in board does not work because it has not been installed to slot 3. The Multi-Part Plug-in board 
    should be installed to slot 3.
    The Effect Plug-in board does not work because it has not been installed to slot 1. The Effect Plug-in board should be 
    installed to slot 1.A Pattern Job will result in the length of a Pattern being greater than 256 measures.
    A Pattern Job will result in the length of a phrase being greater than 256 measures.
    The maximum number of phrases (256) has been exceeded when recording, executing a Pattern Job, or editing.
    An unacceptable input or value has been specified. Check the input method or value.
    An unacceptable track number has been specified in the Song/Pattern mode. Select the track again.
    An unacceptable phrase number has been specified in the Pattern mode. Select the phrase again.
    An unacceptable measure number has been specified in the Song/Pattern mode. Select the measure again.
    In the Pattern Job mode, the meter (time signature) of the destination pattern is different from the meter of the source pattern.
    The sample memory is full and further sampling operations, Jobs, or load operations cannot be executed.
    The maximum overall number of samples (8192) has been exceeded.
    The sample length is too short and the Frequency Convert Job cannot be executed.
    The sampling frequency is too low and the Frequency Convert Job cannot be executed.
    The sample file specified for loading is unusable by the MOTIF.
    The linked sample files cannot be found during a load operation.
    The sample size is too large and the Time Stretch Job cannot be executed.
    An appropriate pair of expansion SIMMs is not properly installed, or the pair is not properly matched (page 287).
    The Plug-in board that has been installed to slot 1 does not work.
    The Plug-in board that has been installed to slot 2 does not work.

    Owner’s Manual of the mLAN8E.

    [INC/YES] if this is OK, or [DEC/NO] to abort the operation. Try again after erasing unwanted songs, patterns, or user
    phrases. The Plug-in All Bulk Save function does not apply to the PLG100 series boards.

    Make sure to create the backup copy of your own
    data before executing the update.

    Smart media floppy disk adaptor.
    Download the MOTIF updated program from the
    download page on the YSISS home page to the
    smart media (using the smart media floppy disk
    adaptor).

    ∗ Insert a smart media containing only the update
    program (06380s.pgm) into the card slot on the
    main unit.
    1. Insert the smart media into the slot on the rear
    panel. The correct direction of media is printed on

    2. Turn the power on with “REC” button and
    “STORE” button pressed and held. (Fig.2)
    The screen appears on LCD.
