Check the locking condition of the coupler. If there is a malfunction, repair it and connect the coupler securely. Starting the engine, and inputting the vehicle speed signals by operating the vehicle at a 20 to 30 km/h. A-2 Open or short circuit in speed sensor lead. Repair or replace if there is an open or short circuit. Between speed sensor coupler and ECU coupler. (Blue–Blue) (White/Yellow–White/Yellow) (Black/Blue–Black/Blue) A-3 Gear for detecting vehicle speed has broken. Replace if defective. Refer to CHECKING THE SPEED SENSOR on page 8- 78. (If mul- tiple cylinders are defective, the numbers of the faulty cyl- inders are displayed alter- nately at 2-second intervals.) Replace ECU if it does not recover from the malfunction. Turning the main switch ON. (Readjust the exhaust gas volume after it is reinstated.)

FUEL PUMP SYSTEM 8-57 EAS27570 TROUBLESHOOTING If the fuel pump fails to operate. NOTE: Before troubleshooting, remove the following part(s): 1. Seat 2. Front cowling inner panel3 3. Fuel tankNG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ NG→ OK ↓ 1. Check the fuses. (Main, ignition and fuel injection system) Refer to CHECKING THE FUSES on page 8-67. Replace the fuse(s). 2. Check the battery. Refer to CHECKING AND CHARGING THE BATTERY on page 8-68. Clean the battery terminals. Recharge or replace the battery. 3. Check the main switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the main switch. 4. Check the engine stop switch. Refer to CHECKING THE SWITCHES on page 8-63. Replace the right handlebar switch. 5. Check the starting circuit cut-off relay. Refer to CHECKING THE RELAYS on page 8-71. Replace the starting circuit cut-off relay. 6. Check the fuel pump. Refer to CHECKING THE FUEL PRESSURE on page 7-6. Replace the fuel pump. 7. Check the entire fuel pump sys- tem’s wiring. Refer to CIRCUIT DIAGRAM on page 8-55. Properly connect or repair the fuel pump system’s wiring. Replace the ECU.
