Collation
This item allows you to collate the received data 
through the print driver. The printer will print 
output in sets to match the sequence of the 
originals.
•Off: When the printer receives data from the 
PC driver, it will print out as received.
•On: When the printer receives data from PC 
driver, it will print out after storing and 
collating the data.
SmartDuplexing
If this menu is set to 
On, the printer will detect a 
single page job and print it as a simplex-single-
page even though the printer driver on your PC 
was set to duplex printing as a default.
Job Timeout
You can set the length of time the printer waits 
before printing the last page of a print job that 
does not end with a command to print the page. 
The default is 15 sec.
When a print time-out occurs, the printer prints 
the page in the print buffer.
Job Held Timer
The machine holds a secure print job for a 
specific time period. The default is 24 hours. 
You can set a time period for a maximum of 72 
hours.

MaintenanceThis item allows you to maintain your printer.
•Clean Drum: Cleans the OPC drum of the 
cartridge and produces a cleaning sheet with 
toner debris on it.
•Clean Fuser: Cleans the fuser unit inside of 
the printer and produces a cleaning sheet 
with toner debris on it.
•Supplies Life: This item allows you to check 
how many pages have printed and how much 
toner is left in the cartridge.
Parallel Setup•Parallel Port: You can enable or disable the 
parallel port. 
•Port Timeout: You can set the length of time 
the printer waits before printing the last page 
of a print job that does not end with a 
command to print the page. When a print 
time-out occurs, the printer prints the page in 
the print buffer.
•Parallel PDL: This item defines the printer 
language to communicate between computer 
and printer through the parallel port. You can 
set among Auto Select, PCL, PostScript, 
EPSON, IBM.
USB Setup•Usb Port: You can enable or disable the USB 
port as a security measure. 
•Port Timeout: You can set the length of time 
the printer waits before printing the last page 
of a print job that does not end with a 
command to print the page. When a print 
time-out occurs, the printer prints the page in 
the print buffer.
•USB PDL: This item defines the printer 
language to communicate between computer 
and printer through the USB port. You can set 
among Auto Select, PCL, PostScript, 
EPSON, IBM.
Panel Lockout
You can lock or unlock. If you set this item On, 
you have to enter a passcode to access some 
of the panel.

Emulation menu
Use the Emulation menu to configure printer language emulation. Secure Print
•Release All: If this menu is configured to Off, 
Release item in Secure Print menu launches 
only one file which agrees with the user name 
and the passcode for the file. 
If this menu is configured to On, Release 
item in Secure Print menu releases every file 
that matches the user name and the 
passcode.
The default is Off.
•Delete: You can delete all of the pages 
regardless of the user name or the passcode.
Low Toner
•Stop: When the toner in the cartridge 
becomes almost empty, the machine will not 
resume printing until you install a new Xerox-
genuine print cartridge.
•Continue: Even though the toner in the 
cartridge becomes almost empty, the 
machine will continue the printing job.
Cm or inches
You can set the unit in the machine with your 
preferences either in centimeters or inches. 
This selection affects the following menus.
•Simplex Margin in Layout menu.
•Custom Size of Tray 1MPT Size in Paper 
menu.
Clear SettingThis menu item allows you to restore the 
printer’s factory default settings.

PCL
This menu sets the PCL emulation configuration. You can set the font 
type, symbol type, lines per page, and point size. Hex Mode
When you set this menu on, the printer will print the 
unprocessed hex data.

Typeface
You can select the standard font to be used in PCL 
emulation. 
• PCL 1~PCL 7’s interval between letters is fixed, and 
PCL 8~PCL 45’s interval is proportional to the font 
type and point size. You can adjust the font size of 
PCL 1~PCL 7 using the Pitch item, and 
PCL 8~PCL 45 can do using Point Size item.
• PCL 46~PCL 54’s interval and point size are fixed. 
Symbol
This item selects the symbol to be used in PCL 
emulation. The symbol is the group of numbers, 
marks, and special signs being used when printing 
letters. The default is PC8.
Point Size
When you select one between PCL 8 and PCL 45 from 
the Typeface menu, you can determine the font size 
by setting the height of the characters in the font. The 
default is 12.00.
Courier
This item lets you select the version of Courier font to 
use.
Pitch
When you select a font between PCL 1 and PCL 7 
from the Ty p e f a c e menu, you can determine the font 
size by setting the number of characters that will print 
in one horizontal inch of type. The default value, 10 is 
the best size.

This menu provides you with the Print PS Error menu item. 
EPSON
This menu sets the EPSON emulation configuration.Lines
This item allows you to set vertical spacing from 5 to 
128 lines for the default paper size. The lines may 
differ according to the paper size and printing 
orientation.

Error
You can select whether or not your printer prints an 
error list when a PS error occurs.
•Select On to print PS 3 emulation errors. If an error 
occurs, the job stops processing, the error message 
prints, and the printer flushes the job. 
• If this menu is set to Off, the job is flushed without an 
indication of the error.

This item allows you to select the ethernet speed.
Clear 
SettingThis item performs a simple reset and restores the 
factory default settings for the network 
configuration. This setting will only take effect after 
you have reset the printer.

802.1x
This item is for connecting with an authentication 
server. If you need to connect this product to an 
authentication server, set this item On, and select 
one of the following authentication method. You can 
select any method which the authentication server 
supports among EAP-MD5, EAP-MSCHAPv2 and 
PEAP.
Port 9100
This item lets you select whether or not you use port 
9100.
•Off: You can disable the Port 9100 printing port.

This item lets you select whether or not you use 
LPR.

This item lets you select whether or not you use the

Printing a demo page
Print a demo page to make sure that the printer is operating correctly.
1Press Menu and then OK when Information appears.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Demo Page appears and 
press OK.
A demo page prints out.
Changing the display language 
To change the language that is displayed on the control panel, follow 
these steps:
1Press Menu until System Setup appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press OK when Language appears.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons to select the language you want 
and press OK.
4Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode. SLP
This item lets you select whether or not you use the 
SLP (Service Location Protocol) network 
connection.
•Off: You can disable the SLP.
•On: You can enable the SLP.
CentreWare 
IS
This item lets you select whether or not you use the 
embeded web server called CentreWare IS. If you 
turn this item Off, you cannot connect to the 
printer’s embeded web server.

Introduction
Once you have connected your printer to a network with an RJ-45 
Ethernet cable, you can share the printer with other network users.
You need to set up the network protocols on the printer to use it as your 
network printer. 
Via network administration programs
You can configure your printer’s print server settings and manage the 
printer via the following programs that came with your printer:
•CentreWare IS: A web server embedded in your network printer, 
which allows you to remotely configure the printer settings and 
network parameters necessary for the printer to be connected to 
various network environments.
•SetIP: A utility program allowing you to select your network printer 
and manually configure the printers TCP/IP addresses.
Via the control panel
You can set up the following basic network parameters through the 
printer’s control panel:
• Configure TCP/IP
• Configure IPX frame types for NetWare
• Configure EtherTalk, 802.1x, Port 9100, LPR, IPP, SLP, 
CentreWare IS, and SNMP

Configuring TCP/IP
Your printer can be set up with a variety of TCP/IP network information, 
such as an IP address, a subnet mask, a gateway, and DNS addresses. 
There are several ways in which your printer can be assigned a TCP/IP 
address, depending on your network.
• Static addressing: A TCP/IP address is assigned manually by the 
system administrator.
• Dynamic addressing via BOOTP/DHCP (default): A TCP/IP address 
is assigned automatically by the server.
Note 
Before configuring TCP/IP, you need to set the network 
protocol to TCP/IP.
Static addressing
To enter a TCP/IP address from your printer’s control panel, take the 
following steps: 
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press OK when TCP/IP appears.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Static appears and press 
OK.
4Press OK when IP Address appears. 
5Set the first byte between 0 and 255 using the Up/down arrow 
buttons and press OK to move to the next byte.
Repeat this to complete the address from the 1st byte to the 4th 
byte.
6When you have finished, press OK.
7Repeat step 5 and 6 to configure the other TCP/IP parameters: 
subnet mask and gateway address.
8Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.
Dynamic addressing (BOOTP/DHCP)
To have a TCP/IP address assigned automatically by the server, take the 
following step:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display. 
2Press OK when TCP/IP appears.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until DHCP or BOOTP appears 
and press OK.
4Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.
Configuring EtherTalk
EtherTalk is AppleTalk used in an Ethernet network. This protocol is 
widely used in Macintosh network environments. To use EtherTalk, take 
the following steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until EtherTalk appears and 
press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
4Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.
Configuring IPX frame types
To use IPX/SPX protocol networks (for example, Novell NetWare), the 
format of the network communication frames must be specified for the 
printer. In most cases, you can keep the
 Auto setting. However, you can 
manually set the frame type format, if required. Take the following steps 
to change the frame type format:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK. 
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until NetWare appears and 
press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until the desired frame type 
appears.
•Auto: Automatically senses and limits the frame type to the first 
one detected.
•802.2: Limits the frame type to IPX over IEEE 802.2 with IEEE 
802.3 frames. All others will be discarded.
•802.3: Limits the frame type to IPX over IEEE 802.3 frames. All 
others will be discarded.
•Ethernet II: Limits the frame type to IPX over Ethernet Frames. 
All others will be discarded.
•SNAP: Limits the frame type to IPX over SNAP with IEEE 802.3 
frames. All others will be discarded.
•Off: The IPX/SPX protocol is disabled.
4Press OK to save the selection.
5Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.

Setting Ethernet speed
You can select the communication speed for Ethernet connections.
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Ethernet Speed appears 
and press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until the speed you want 
appears and press OK.
4Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.
Restoring the network configuration
You can return the network configuration to its default settings.
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK. 
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Clear Setting appears and 
press OK.
3Press OK when Ye s appears to restore the network configuration.
4Power the printer off and back on.
Printing a network configuration page
The network configuration page shows how the network interface card 
on your printer is configured. 
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Network Info. appears and 
press OK.
3Press OK when Ye s appears.
The network configuration page prints out.
Configuring 802.1x
Your printer has 802.1x protocol on its network. 802.1x is a security 
standard for port based network access control. It secures your network 
against unauthorized access by requiring authentication before network 
access and data transmission are allowed. There are 3 mutually 
exclusive options for 802.1x authentication.
To use 802.1x, take the following steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until 802.1x appears and press 
OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
4Press the Up/down arrow buttons until the desired authentication 
method appears.
•EAP-MD5: EAP-MD5 (Extensible Authentication Protocol 
Message Digest algorithm 5) is a message hashing scheme 
between client and server to allow the transfer of user data in a 
secure fashion.
•EAP-MSCHAPv2: EAP-MSCHAP (Extensible Authentication 
Protocol Microsoft version of the Challenge-Handshake 
Authentication Protocol). MSCHAP v2 is a one-way encrypted 
password, mutual authentication process. MS-CHAPv2 uses 
different hashing/encryption algorithms to encode the UserID and 
passwords.
•PEAP: PEAP (Protected EAP).
5Enter user name and passcode using Up/down arrow button.
6Press OK to save the selection.
7Press Start/Stop to return to Standby mode.
Configuring Port 9100
Your printer can use port 9100. To enable port 9100, take the following 
steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until Port 9100 appears and 
press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.

Configuring LPR
Your printer can use LPR (Line Printer Protocol) which transmit the 
printing data through port 510. To enable LPR, take the following steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until LPR appears and press 
OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
Configuring IPP
Your printer can use IPP ( Internet Printing Protocol) which transmit the 
printing data through port 631. To enable IPP, take the following steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until IPP appears and press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
Configuring SLP
Your printer can use SLP (Service Location Protocol) which transmit the 
printing information through port 427. To enable SLP, take the following 
steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until SLP appears and press 
OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
Configuring CentreWare IS
Your printer can use CentreWare IS (Internet Services). To enable 
CentreWare IS, take the following steps:
1Press Menu until Network appears on the bottom line of the 
display and press OK.
2Press the Up/down arrow buttons until CentreWare IS appears 
and press OK.
3Press the Up/down arrow buttons until On appears and press OK.
