Theimportanceofcheckingandmaintaining theproperoillevelinthecrankcasecannot beoveremphasized.Checkoilbeforeeach useandchangeasneeded.SeeChanging theOil. 2.Placetheunitonaflatlevelsurface. 3.Removetheoilplug/dipstickfromthecrankcase (Fig.4). RECOMMENDEDOILTYPE Usingthepropertypeandweightofoilinthe _crankcaseisextremelyimportant.Checkthe oilbeforeeachuseandchangetheoil regularly.Failuretousethecorrectoil,or usingdirtyoil,cancauseprematureenginewearand failure. Useahigh-qualitySAE30weightoilofAPI(American PetroleumInstitute)serviceclassSF,SG,SH. ADDINGOILTOCRANKCASE-INITIALUSE NOTE:Thisunitisshippedwithoutbeingfilledwithoil. Inordertoavoiddamagetotheunit,putoilin thecrankcasebeforeattemptingtostartunit. Yourunitissuppliedwithone3.4fluidoz.(100ml.) bottleofSAE30SF,SG,SHoil(Fig.3). NOTE:Savethebottletomeasurethecorrectamount forfutureoilchanges.SeeChangingtheOil. 1.Unscrewthetopofthebottleofoilandremovethe papersealcoveringtheopening.Replacetop.Cut thetipoffthefunnelspout(Fig.3). RECOMMENDEDFUELTYPE Oldfuelistheprimaryreasonfortheunitnot runningproperly.Besuretousefresh,clean, unleadedGasoline. NOTE:Thisisafourcycleengine.Inordertoavoid damagetotheunit,donotmixoilwith Gasoline, DefinitionofBlendedFuels Todaysfuelsareoftenablendofgasolineand oxygenatessuchasethanol,methanolorMTBE(ether). Alcohol-blendedfuelabsorbswater.Aslittleas1% waterinthefuelcanmakefuelandoilseparateorform acidswhenstored.Usefreshfuel(lessthan60days old),whenusingalcohol-blendedfuel. UsingBlendedFuels Ifyouchoosetouseablendedfuel,oritsuseis unavoidable,followrecommendedprecautions. Alwaysusefreshunleadedgasoline UsethefueladditiveSTA-BILc_oranequivalent. Draintankandruntheenginedrybeforestoringunit. UsingFuelAdditives Theuseoffueladditives,suchasSTA-BIL_;Gas Stabilizeroranequivalent,willinhibitcorrosionand minimizetheformationofgumdeposits.Usingafuel additivecankeepfuelfromformingharmfuldepositsin thecarburetorforuptosix(6)months.Add0.8oz. (23ml.)offueladditivepergallonoffuelaccordingtothe instructionsonthecontainer.NEVERaddfueladditives directlytotheunitsgastank. FUELINGUNIT 1_,ARNING:Gasolineisextremelyflammable anditsvaporscanexplodeifignited.To avoidseriouspersonalinjury,alwaysstopthe engineandallowittocoolbeforefillingthe fueltank.Donotsmokewhilefillingthetank.
