The Keyboard
The computers keyboard layouts are compatible with a 104/105-key 
enhanced keyboard. By pressing some keys in combination, all the 104/
105-key keyboard functions can be executed on the computer.
The number of keys on your keyboard depends on which country/regions 
keyboard layout your computer is configured with. Keyboards for numerous

F1 ... F12 function keys
The function keys, not to be confused with Fn, are the 12 keys at the top of 
your keyboard. These keys are dark gray, but function differently from the 
other dark gray keys.
F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed 
functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked

Hotkeys
Fn + ESC Volume MuteTurns the volume on and off.
Fn + F1 Instant SecurityEnters screen saver mode and 
blanks the screen. To restore your desktop, press 
any key or use the TouchPad/Dual Mode Pad.
Fn + F2 Power Save ModesDisplays the power save 
modes and lets you change the power settings

The keyboard provides two keys that have special functions in Windows 
Vista. One activates the Start menu and the other has the same function as 
the secondary mouse button.

Battery types
The computer has two types of batteries:
■Battery pack
■Real Time Clock (RTC) battery
Battery pack
When the AC adapter is not connected, the computers main power source 
is a removable lithium ion battery pack, also referred to in this manual as 
the battery.
You can purchase additional battery packs for extended use of the 
computer away from an AC power source.
