A factory newmachine shouldnotbe

first three tankfillings. Thisavoids un­
necessary highloads during thebreak-in
period.
As allmoving partshave

frictional resistances

are greater duringthisperiod.
The engine develops itsmaximum
power afterabout 5to 15 tank fillings.
