    Connect to  the camera  from an  Android  smartphone

    Functions  that  can  be  set  with  the smartphone
    You  can  shoot  still  images and  movies  by controlling the camera  remotely  by a smartphone.
    You  can  also  save  recorded  still  images on  your  smartphone.
    Download  the smartphone  support  application  “PlayMemories  Mobile”  to  your  smartphone  from the
    application  store.
    1 .  MENU  
      (Ctrl with  Smartphone)
    2 .  Connect to  the camera  from your  smartphone, using the information  that  appears  on  the screen
    when the camera  is ready  to  be  connected. Connection methods  differ,  depending  on  the type of
    smartphone.  [Details] [Details]
    3 .  Determine  the composition  on  the screen  of  the smartphone, then  press  the shutter button  (A ) to
    shoot.
    You  can  zoom  with  the zoom  button  (B ).
    You  can  switch  between  still  images and  movies  (C ).
    You  can  configure  settings  for  [Flash],  [Self -Timer] or saving images on  your  smartphone  (D ).
    [Details]
    You  cannot  operate on  the camera.
    Notes Still  images recorded  on  a smartphone  are  in  [2M]  format.
    Movies  cannot  be  recorded  on  a smartphone.

    							Connect to  the camera  from  an Android smartphone
    1.  Start  “PlayMemories  Mobile”  on  your  smartphone.
    2 .  Select  (DIRECT-XXXX  :  DSC -XXXX).
    3.  Input the password  displayed on  the camera.
    The smartphone  is connected  to  the camera.
    Connect to  the camera  from  an iOS  smartphone
    1.  Select  (DIRECT-XXXX  :  DSC -XXXX)  on  the Wi-Fi settings  screen  of  iOS.
    2.  Input the password  displayed on  the camera.

    							The smartphone  is connected  to  the camera.
    3 .  Start  “PlayMemories  Mobile”  on  your  smartphone.
    Functions that can  be set  with the smartphone
    Flash Select  [Off] or [Auto].
    Self-Timer Select  [Off],  [2sec]  or [10sec].
    Review
    Check Select  [Off],  [Review Only]  or [Review,  Save  Image].
    If you  select  [Review,  Save  Image],  you  can  also  save  still  pictures  on  your
    smartphone.

    Send to  Computer
    You  can  easily back  up  images from the camera  to  a computer  connected  to  your  wireless  access  point
    or wireless  broadband  router.
    Install  “PlayMemories  Home”  [Details]  before  registering  the wireless  access  point  [Details]  [Details] .
    1 .  Start  your  computer.

      (Send  to  Computer)  
    Notes
    Depending  on  the application  settings  of  your  computer,  the camera  will turn off  after  saving the
    images to  your  computer.
    The images in  the internal  memory  cannot  be  transferred.
    Set  up  the access  point  in  advance.
    You  can  simultaneously  transfer multiple  images to  a personal  computer.
    To  transfer images to  another computer,  use  a USB cable to  connect  the camera  to  the personal
    computer,  then  operate the camera  with  “PlayMemories  Home”.

    Sets  the still  image size  shot while  recording  a movie.

    The image size  determines  the size  of  the image file  that  is recorded  when you  take an  image.
    The larger the image size, the more  detail will be  reproduced when the image is printed on  large-format
    paper.  The smaller the image size, the more  images can  be  recorded.

    Movie Quality/Movie Size
    The larger the size  of  the movie  image,  the higher  the image quality.  The higher  the amount  of  data
    used  per  second (average  bit-rate),  the higher  the image quality.
    Select  a movie  recording  format  by pressing  MENU  
      (Settings)    (Shooting  Settings)  
    [Movie  format]  in  shooting  mode.  [Details]
    If [Movie  format]  is [AVCHD],  select  the movie  size  from [Movie  Quality],  and  if [Movie  format]  is [MP4],
    select  from [Movie  Size].
    Movie quality  (recording  format:  AVCHD)

    FX/FH/HQ:
    Movies  shot are  recorded  in  AVCHD  format,  at  approximately 60  fields/sec  (for 1080 60i -compatible
    devices) or 50  fields/sec  (for 1080 50i -compatible  devices),  in  interlaced  mode,  with  Dolby Digital  audio,
    AVCHD  format.
    PS:
    Movies  shot are  recorded  in  AVCHD  format,  at  approximately 60  frames/sec (for 1080 60i -compliant
    devices) or 50  frames/sec (for 1080 50i -compliant  devices),  in  progressive  mode,  with  Dolby Digital
    audio, AVCHD  format.

    							NotesA  telephoto  image is produced  when [MP4  3M]  image size  is selected.
    When  you  create  AVCHD  discs  from movies  recorded  in  [AVC  HD  28M  (PS)]  or [AVC  HD  24M
    (FX)], it will take time as the image quality must  be  converted.  To  save  [AVC  HD  28M  (PS)]  or [AVC
    HD  24M  (FX)] movies  without  converting  the image quality,  use  Blu -ray discs.

    Exposure Compensation
    1.  Turn the exposure  compensation dial to  select  the desired  Exposure Compensation  setting.
    Adjusting  the exposure  for better  looking images
    A:  Overexposure  (too much  light)
    B :  Correct  exposure
    C :  Underexposure  (too little  light)
    When  the image shot is overexposed,  adjust  [Exposure  Compensation] to  the minus  side.
    When  the image shot is underexposed,  adjust  [Exposure  Compensation] to  the plus  side.
    Notes If you  shoot  a subject  in  extremely  bright  or dark  conditions,  or when you  use  the flash, the
    exposure  adjustment may not be  effective.
