Troubleshooting
“PROTECT” and “PUSH POWER” appear
alternately.
•A strong signal is input. Turn off the power,
leave the system turned off for a while, then turn
on the power again. If “PROTECT” and “PUSH
POWER” still appear alternately, check the
speaker cords.
“DVD CLOSE!” appears.
•You tried to open the cassette deck when the disc
tray is open. Press Z to close the disc tray first,
then open the cassette deck.
“TAPE CLOSE!” appears.
•You tried to open the disc tray when the cassette
deck is open....

Problems and remedies (continued)
Play does not start from the first track.
•The player is in Program Play or Shuffle Play
mode. Press PLAY MODE/DIRECTION on the
remote repeatedly until “1 DISC” or “ALL
DISCS” appears.
•Resume Play has been selected. When the
playback is stopped, press x, then start DVD
playback (page 17).
•The title, DVD, or PBC menu automatically
appears on the TV screen. Follow the
instructions on the TV screen.
The MP3 audio track cannot be played.
•The DATA CD is not recorded...

Tape Deck
The tape does not record.
•The tab has been removed from the cassette (see
“To save a tape permanently” on page 65).
•The tape has reeled to the end.
The tape does not record nor play, or there is a
decrease in sound level.
•The heads are dirty (see “Cleaning the tape
heads” on page 66).
•The record/playback heads are magnetized (see
“Demagnetizing the tape heads” on page 66).
The tape does not erase completely.

Tuner
There is severe hum or noise (“TUNED” or
“STEREO” flashes in the display).
•Adjust the antenna.
•The signal is too weak. Connect an external
antenna.
A stereo FM program cannot be received in
stereo.
•Press REPEAT/FM MODE on the remote so that
“MONO” disappears.
If other troubles not described above
occur, reset the system as follows:
1Press x, DISPLAY and DVD TOP MENU
at the same time.
2Unplug the power cord.
3Plug the power cord back in.
4Press ?/1 to turn on the power.

Notes on discs
•Before playing, clean the disc with a cleaning cloth.
Wipe the disc from the center out.
•Do not use solvents such as benzene, thinner,
commercially available cleaners or anti-static spray
intended for vinyl LPs.
•Do not expose the disc to direct sunlight or heat
sources such as hot air ducts, nor leave it in a car
parked in direct sunlight.
•Do not use discs encircled with a protection ring.
