Sound Adjustment
Creating a personal sound
effect file
— Personal file
You can store the adjusted sound effects in the
system’s memory. You can create up to
5 sound effect files.
1Obtain the sound effect you want to
store to P FILE.
2Press and hold P FILE on the remote.
The personal file number appears in the
display.
3Slide your finger on the digipad to
select the file number where you want
to store the effect.

Turning off the display
— Power Saving Mode
The demonstration display (display window
and buttons lighting and flashing even when
the system power is off) and the clock display
can be turned off to minimize the amount of
power consumed during standby (Power
Saving Mode).
Press DISPLAY repeatedly while the
system is off until the demonstration
display or the clock display disappears.
To cancel Power Saving Mode

you select “KARAOKE PON”.
•If you recall a sound effect, the karaoke mode is
canceled.
•During “KARAOKE PON”, “MPX R” or “MPX
L”, EFFECT button does not work.
•During “KARAOKE PON”, “MPX R” or “MPX
L”, DSP effect switches to “KEY CONTROL”.
When the karaoke effect is canceled, the DSP effect

Tips•If acoustic feedback (howling) occurs, move the
microphone away from the speakers or change the
direction of the microphone.
•If you want to record your voice through the
microphone only, you can do so by selecting the
DVD function and not playing a disc.
•When high level sound signals are input, the unit
automatically adjusts the recording level to prevent
distortion of the recorded sound signal (Auto Level
Control Function).

To enhance your system, you can connect optional components. Refer to the operating instructions
provided with each component.

optional component (such as a TV) to this jack.

signals, you must use this connection and set
“COMPONENT OUT” to “PROGRESSIVE”

while the power is on. Release ?/1 first,
then release MD (VIDEO). This switches

Problems and remedies
If you run into any problem using this unit, use
the following check list.
First, check that the power cord is connected
firmly and the speakers are connected correctly
and firmly.
Should any problem persist, consult your
nearest Sony dealer.
