5BATTERY INSTALLATION The battery cover is located on the back of the unit. Slide the cover in the direction of the arrow to gain access to the battery compartment . Insert 2 AAA (UM-4) batteries into the compartment. Make sure that the batteries are positioned in accordance with the diagram indicated. Replace cover. Note: (1) During radio listening , radio will turn itself off when the battery power becomes too low. A low battery indicator will appear on the display for 1.5 seconds (you may not notice this ) indicating weak batteries and replacement is necessary. (2) During the low battery status, if you press the POWER button, Radio wont turn it on but appear with low battery indicator to remind the battery power is low and needed for battery replacement.(3) During battery replacement, turn off the power and make sure the lock switch is in the locked position. This will prevent any memory presets from being lost during battery replacement.5
6ANTENNA/EARPHONE USE VOLUME CONTROL TUNING THE RADIO Inserting the earphone into the earphone jack . The cord connecting the earphone to the receiver acts as an antenna during FM reception and shou- ld be extended as much as possible to increase FM sensitivity. A built-in Ferrite Bar Antenna is provided for AM reception and it is only necessary to rotate the radio for maximum signal strength during AM listening. Adjust volume control to adjust the required listening volume. Band Frequency Antenna AM 520-1710 kHz Internal/Rotate radio for best reception. FM 87.50-108 MHz External/Make sure the ear-11 13
7 Phone is inserted into earph- one jack. A. APS (auto scan and auto preset) This radio equips with APS device to have auto scan and auto preset function. Among the many conveniences offered by this feature it is especia- lly useful for the traveler who can automatically find all the local stations in any strange city he may travel to with just the push of two buttons. Turn on the radio by pressing On/Off button , connect earphone to the earphone jack, select required band by pressing band selection button , then press Tuning Control Up and Down button at the same time for more than 2 seconds until LCD display shows AUTO SCAN . The receiver will scan from the low frequency of the selected AM or FM band and auto memory the stations it can find until memory is full. i.e. 15 memory stations on FM band or 6 memory stations 1 4 10 3
8 on AM band. When APS completes , it will appear the first radio station it finds. To recall the stations , please refer to Memory Tuning (station recall ) described later. B. 90 minutes auto shut off device For saving battery power , this radio is designed to auto shut off after 90 minutes operation, LCD display shows For continuious listening if necessary, pressing ON/Off button for more than 2 seconds until LCD display disappears C. Scan tuning Turn on the radio by pressing On/Off button , select AM or FM band by pressing Band Selected button , then press and hold the Tuning Control Up or Down for more than 1/2 second. The radio will scan all the frequencies in that band and will stop automatically when a radio station is found.1 1 10 4 3

Desired station may be selected by pressing the Tuning Control or interm- ittently until the desired station is reached. Or pressing and holding the Tuning Control until the desired station is reached. E. Memory Tuning (station preset) Turn on the radio by pressing On/Off button Select AM or FM band by pressing Band Selec- ted button . Tune to the desired station us- ing the Manual or Scan Tuning methods as des- cribed prior. When the desired station is reach- ed and indicated in the LCD display ,press the Memory Button . AM will flash in the LCD display and also a suggested number of memory position .During its flashing, select the
10desired memory position by pressing Tuning Con- trol or to the desired memory position, then press Memory button again. M will stop flashing indicating station memory being done. Note : No matter you press Memory Button or Memory Recall button , if the numb- er digit is flashing which indicates the fla- shing number station has been memoried. It will replace previous memory station, if you press Memory Button at this time. You may store a total of 15. stations in the FM band and 6 stations in the AM band plus 3 favo- rite stations as priority described later. If the memory is full , when press the Memory button , LCD display will appear FUL.In this case, if you still like to memory the required sta- tion. Press the Memory button again, the radio will memory the station by force and replace M157 3 4 6 6 6
