Select one recordin\b device in the Device List. ✎When the recordin\b device is not displayed, press the a button in the Device List menu to search devices. 2. Press the EXIT button to exit. ✎You can record the source streams by selectin\b Recording: (device_name). ✎Pressin\b the � (REC) button will record whatever you are currently watchin\b. I\f you are watchin\b video \from another device, the video \from the device is recorded. ✎Be\fore recordin\b, check whether the antenna jack is properly connected to the recordin\b device. To properly connect an antenna to a recordin\b device, re\fer to the recordin\b device’s users manual. ¦Listening through a Receiver You can listen to soun\od throu\bh a receiver (i.e Home Th\oeatre) instead o\f the TV Speaker. 1. Select Receiver and set to On. 2. Press the EXIT button to exit. ✎I\f your receiver supports audio only, it may not appear in the device list. ✎The receiver will work when you have properly connected the optical in jack o\f the receiver to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPTICAL) jack o\f the T V. ✎When the receiver (i.e Home Theatre) is set to On, you can hear sound output \from the T V’s Optical jack. When the T V is displayin\b a DT V (aerial) si\bnal, the T V will send out 5.1 channel sound to the receiver. When the source is a di\bital component such as a DVD and is connected to the T V via HDMI, only 2 channel sound will be heard \from the receiver.

For Teletext in\formation t\oo be displayed correctly, channel reception must be sta\oble. Otherwise, in\fo\ormation may be missi\on\b or some pa\bes may\o not be displayed. ✎You can chan\be Teletext pa\bes by pressin\b the numeric buttons on the remote control. 1 / (Teletext on/mix/o\f\f): Activates the Teletext mode \for the\o current channel. Press the button twice to overlap the\o Teletext mode with the current broadcastin\b screen. IssuesSolutions and Explanations PC Connection A Mode \bot Supported messa\be appears.• Set your PC’s output resolution and \frequency so they match the resolutions supported by the TV (p. 20). PC is always shown on the source list, even i\f a PC is not connected. • This is normal; “PC” is always shown on the source list, re\bardless o\f whether a PC is connected. The video is OK but there is no audio. • I\f you are usin\b a HDMI connection, check the audio output settin\b on your PC. Picture Quality First o\f all, please per\form the Picture Test and confirm that your TV is properly displayin\b test ima\be. (\bo to ME\bU - Support \f S elf D iagnosis - Picture Test) (p. 34) I\f the test ima\be is properly displayed, the poor picture may caused by the source or si\bnal. The TV ima\be does not look as \bood as it did in the store. • I\f you have an analo\bue cable/set top box, up\brade to a di\bital set top box. Use HDMI or Component cables to deliver HD (hi\bh definition) picture quality. • Cable/Satellite subscribers: Try HD stations \from the channel line up.• Antenna connection: Try HD stations a\fter per\formin\b Auto pro\bramme. ✎Many HD channels are up scaled \from SD(Standard Definition) contents.• Adjust the Cable/Set top box video output resolution to 1080i or 720p.• Make sure you are watchin\b the TV at the minimum recommended distance based on the size and definition o\f the si\bnal. The picture is distorted: macro block error, small block, dots, pixelization • Compression o\f video contents may cause picture distortion especially in \fast movin\b pictures such as sports and action movies. • Low si\bnal level or bad quality can cause picture distortion. This is not a TV issue.• Mobile phones used close to the TV (cca up to 1m) may cause noise in picture on analo\bue and di\bital TV. Colour is wron\b or missin\b. • I\f you’re usin\b a component connection, make sure the component cables are connected to the correct jacks. Incorrect or loose connections may cause colour problems or a blank screen. There is poor colour or bri\bhtness. • Adjust the Picture options in the TV menu. (\bo to Picture mode / Colour / Brightness / S harpness) (p. 26) • Adjust Energy Saving option in the TV menu. (\bo to ME\bU - System \f Eco S olution \f Energy Saving) (p. 32)• Try resettin\b the picture to view the de\fault picture settin\bs. (\bo to ME\bU - Picture \f Reset P icture) (p.29) There is a dotted line on the ed\be o\f the screen. • I\f the picture size is set to Screen Fit, chan\be it to 16:9 (p. 26). • Chan\be cable/set top box resolution. The picture is black and white. • I\f you are usin\b an AV composite input, connect the video cable (yellow) to the Green jack o\f component input 1 on the TV. When chan\bin\b channels, the picture \freezes or is distorted or delayed. • I\f connected with a cable box, please try to reset the cable box. Reconnect the AC cord and wait until the cable box reboots. It may take up to 20 minutes. • Set the output resolution o\f the cable box to 1080i or 720p. Sound Quality First o\f all, please per\form the Sound Test to confirm that your TV audio is properly operatin\b. (\bo to ME\bU - Support \f S elf D iagnosis \f S ound T est) (p. 34) I\f the audio is OK, the sound problem may caused by the source or si\bnal. There is no sound or the sound is too low at maximum volume. • Please check the volume the o\f external device connected to your TV. The picture is \bood but there is no sound. • Set the Speaker Select option to TV Speaker in the sound menu (p. 30). • I\f you are usin\b an external device, make sure the audio cables are connected to the correct audio input jacks on the TV. • I\f you are usin\b an external device, check the device’s audio output option (ex. you may need to chan\be your cable box’s audio option to HDMI when you have a HDMI connected to your TV). • I\f you are usin\b a DVI to HDMI cable, a separate audio cable is required.• I\f your TV has a headphone jack, make sure there is nothin\b plu\b\bed into it. The speakers are makin\b an inappropriate noise. • Check the cable connections. Make sure a video cable is not connected to an audio input.• For antenna or cable connections, check the si\bnal stren\bth. Low si\bnal level may cause sound distortion.
50En\blish Other In\bormation IssuesSolutions and Explanations No Picture, No Video The TV won’t turn on. • Make sure the AC power cord is securely plu\b\bed in to the wall outlet and the TV.• Make sure the wall outlet is workin\b.• Try pressin\b the POWER button on the TV to make sure the problem is not the remote. I\f the TV turns on, re\fer to “The remote control does not work” below. The TV turns o\f\f automatically. • Ensure the Sleep Timer is set to Off in the System menu (p. 31). • I\f your PC is connected to the TV, check your PC power settin\bs.• Make sure the AC power cord is plu\b\bed in securely to the wall outlet and the TV.• When watchin\b TV \from an antenna or cable connection, the TV will turn o\f\f a\fter 10 ~ 15 minutes i\f there is no si\bnal. There is no picture/Video. • Check cable connections (remove and reconnect all cables connected to the TV and external devices). • Set your external devices’ (Cable/Set top Box, DVD, Blu-ray etc) video outputs to match the connections to the TV input. For example, i\f an external device’s output is HDMI, it should be connect to an HDMI input on the TV. • Make sure your connected devices are powered on.• Be sure to select the TV’s correct source by pressin\b the SOURCE button on the TV remote. RF(Cable/Antenna) Connection The TV is not receivin\b all channels. • Make sure the Antenna cable is connected securely.• Please try Plug & Play (Initial setup) to add available channels to the channel list. Go to ME\bU - System \f P lug & P lay (Initial setup) and wait \for all available channels to be stored (p. 15).• Veri\fy the Antenna is positioned correctly. The picture is distorted: macro block error small block, dots, pixelization • Compression o\f video contents may cause picture distortion, especially with \fast movin\b pictures such as sports and action movies. • A low si\bnal can cause picture distortion. This is not a TV issue. Others The picture won’t display in \full screen. • HD channels will have black bars on either side o\f the screen when displayin\b up scaled SD (4:3) contents. • Black bars on the top and bottom will appear durin\b movies that have aspect ratios di\f\ferent \from your TV. • Adjust the picture size options on your external device or TV to \full screen. The remote control does not work. • Replace the remote control batteries with the poles (+/–) in the ri\bht direction.• Clean the sensor’s transmission window on the remote.• Try pointin\b the remote directly at the TV \from 5~6 \feet away. The cable/set top box remote control doesn’t turn the TV on or o\f\f, or adjust the volume. • Pro\bramme the Cable/Set top box remote control to operate the TV. Re\fer to the Cable/Set user manual \for the SAMSUNG TV code. A “Mode Not Supported” messa\be appears. • Check the supported resolution o\f the TV, and adjust the external device’s output resolution accordin\bly (p. 27). There is a plastic smell \from the TV. • This smell is normal and will dissipate over time. The TV Signal Information is unavailable in the Sel\f Dia\bnostic Test menu.• This \function is only available with di\bital channels \from an Antenna / RF/Coax connection (p. 35). The TV is tilted to the side. • Remove the base stand \from the TV and reassemble it. There are di\fficulties assemblin\b the stand base. • Make sure the TV is placed on a flat sur\face. I\f you can not remove the screws \from the TV, use a ma\bnetized screw driver.
