62 English Basic Functions Sound Mode DSP (Digital Signal Processor) Function This will regulate and stabilize the volume level against a drastic volume change when changing channels or during a scene transition. Press the DSP button. SMART SOUND MP3 ENHANCE POWER BASS DSP OFF • SMART SOUND : This will regulate and stabilize the volume level against a drastic volume change when changing channels or during a scene transition. • MP3 ENHANCE : This also helps enhance your sound experience (ex. mp3 music). You can upscale your MP3 level sound (24 kHz, 8bit) to CD level sound (44.1 kHz, 16bit). • POWER BASS : This function enhances low tones providing thudding sound effects. SFE (Sound Field Effect) MODE You can set the SFE mode best suited for the type of music you are listening to. Press the SFE MODE button. HALL1 Provides a clear vocal as if listening in a concert hall. HALL2 Also provides a clear vocal as if listening in a concert hall, but less powerful than HALL1. JAZZ Recommended setting for Jazz. CHURCH Gives the feel of being in a grand church. ROCK Recommended setting for Rock. SFE OFF Select this for normal listening. Dolby Pro Logic II Mode You can select the desired Dolby Pro Logic II audio mode. Press the PL II button. Setting the speakers to DPL IIz Set the DPL IIz speaker setting to “On”. (For further details, refer to page 44.) - Press the PL II button on the remote control until "DPL IIz” or “DPL IIz OFF” appears on the display. Set to “DPL IIz” to enable sound reproduction from front left and righ wall speakers (See page 27.) DPLIIz You can listen to a 2CH sound source in 7.1CH surround sound with all speakers active. - A specifi c speaker(s) may not be output depending on the input signal. Stop Slide Show Slide Show Speed : Normal Slide Show Effect : Fade1 Background Music Zoom Rotate InformationTools > Move " Enter ' Return Stop Slide Show : Select to stop the slide show. Slide Show Speed : Select to adjust the Slide Show speed. Slide Show Effect : Select set the Slide Show Effect. Background Music : Select to listen to music while viewing a slide show. Zoom : Select to enlarge the current picture. (Enlarge up to 4 times) Rotate : Select to rotate the picture. (This rotates the picture either clockwise or counter clockwise.) Information : Shows the picture information including the name and size, etc. NOTE To enable the Background Music function, both the JPEG photo and MP3 the music fi les must be contained in the same folder. Sound quality can be affected by the bitrate of the MP3 fi le, the size of the photo, and the encoding method. • • • • • • • ✎ NOTE The Dolby Prologic II is not available for sound source encoded in 7.1 CH format or HD sound. For 2 channel audio CD/MP3 playback, wireless receiver does not produce sound (for rear and front center/height speakers). For sound source of DVD 5.1 CH, BD 5.1/7.1 CH, the wireless receiver produces sound (for rear and front center/height speakers) regardless of the sound settings. For 2 channel audio CD/MP3/TV broadcast, set the Dolby Prologic to ON to make wireless receiver produce sound (for rear and front center/height speakers). When selecting Dolby Pro Logic II mode, connect your external device to the AUDIO INPUT jacks (L and R) on the product. If you connect to only one of the inputs (L or R), you cannot listen to surround sound. This mode is available with both 2 channel and 5.1 channel audio. 7.1ch audio is directly transmitted without any transformation. Playing Back Pictures G Playing a JPEG Disc Insert a JPEG disc into the disc tray. Press the ◄► buttons to select the Photos, and then press the ENTER button. Press the ▲▼◄► buttons to select the folder you want to play, and then press the ENTER button. Press the ▲▼◄► buttons to select the photo you want to play, and then press the ENTER button. English 65 04 Basic Functions Listening to Radio Using buttons on the Remote Control Press the FUNCTION button to select TUNER. Tune in to the desired station. Automatic Tuning 1 : When you press the # $ button, you select a preset broadcast station. Automatic Tuning 2 : Press and hold the TUNING/CH () button to automatically search for active broadcasting stations. Manual Tuning : Press the TUNING/CH ( ) button to increase or decrease the frequency incrementally. Setting Mono/Stereo Press the MO/ST button. Each time you press the button, the sound switches between STEREO and MONO . In a poor reception area, select MONO for a clear, interference-free broadcast. Presetting Stations Example : Presetting FM 89.10 into memory Press the FUNCTION button to select TUNER.Press the TUNING/CH () button to select . Press the TUNER MEMORY button. NUMBER fl ashes on the display. Press the # $ button to select a preset number. You can select between 1 and 15 presets. Press the TUNER MEMORY button again. Press the TUNER MEMORY button before NUMBER disappears from the display. NUMBER disappears from the display and the station is stored in memory. To preset another station, repeat steps 2 to 5. The Wireless Transmitter's linking ID is preset at the factory and the main unit and Wireless Transmitter should link (connect wirelessly) automatically when the main unit is turned on. If the link indicator does not light when you turn on the main unit and Wireless Transmitter, you must set the ID manually. (See page 66) Turn on the main unit and connect the iPod/ iPhone to the Wireless transmitter. Then, press the FUNC. button on the product to select " iPod" mode. Press the 4, 7 , 6 , 3 buttons on the remote control in order. The Power LED blinks once. Connect the iPod/iPhone to the Wireless transmitter. S TA N D BYLIN K CH ARG E Turn on the iPod/iPhone. Press the " ID SET" button on the back of the Wireless transmitter for 5 seconds. The link light on the wireless transmitter blinks rapidly. Turn on your product. To listen to music from iPod/iPhone over the product, press the FUNC. button on the product to select " iPod" mode. After you select " iPod" mode, turn the volume of the product down to avoid hearing damage. You can control the speaker volume of iPod/ iPhone with a volume wheel or a volume bar. When iPod/iPhone is stopped or in a power saving mode, the Wireless transmitter enters Sleep Mode. The transmission distance from the product to the wireless transmitter is about 16.4 feet, but may vary depending on your operation environment. The audio signal may be weakened or even lost where there is an obstacle such as a wall or partition between the product and wireless transmitter. English 69 05 Network Services Using the Keypad Through your remote, you can use the On-Screen Keypad in several Internet@TV applications to enter text. Language : English 1The current keypad. Use to enter characters. 2Press the DISC MENU button on the remote control to shift the input mode. : ab, Ab, AB, numbers or icons. 3Displays the current input mode. 4Press the GREEN (B) button on the remote control to change the input method. (T9 or ABC) 5Press the TOOLS button on the remote control to change the language. 6Press the TITLE MENU button on the remote control to delete a character. Entering Text and Numbers To enter text, press the number button on the remote that corresponds to the letter you want to enter. Press the button rapidly to enter a letter that is not the fi rst letter listed on the On-Screen keypad button. For example, if you want to enter the letter b, press the 2 button on your remote rapidly twice. To enter the fi rst letter listed on a button, press, release, and then wait. To move within the text, use the Arrow buttons. To delete text, move the cursor to the right of the character you want to delete, and then press the TITLE MENU button. To change case or enter numbers or punctuation, press the DISC MENU button. NOTE Samsung Electronics shall take no legal respon- sibility for any interruption of the Internet@TV service caused by the service provider for any reason. The Internet@TV service is to download and process data via the Internet so that you can enjoy the contents on your TV screen. If the Internet connection is unstable, the service may be delayed or interrupted. Furthermore, the player may turn off automati- cally. If this occurs, check the Internet connection and try again. Application services may be provided in English only and the contents available may vary, depending on the area. For more information about an Internet@TV service, visit the web site of the applicable service provider. The provided services are subject to change without notice, depending on the Internet@TV service provider. The Internet@TV service contents may differ depending on the fi rmware version. For-a-fee DivX contents with copy protection can only be played using HDMI cable. If you have connected your product to your TV using the Audio/Video cable, the DivX video signal can not output. The popup message “Connect with a HDMI cable to play this fi le.” or “Cannot play current fi le.” will be displayed. Confi gure the network settings before using In- ternet@TV. For more information, see “Network Connection” on page 49. Fonts not supported by Internet@TV within a provider’s content may not display normally. Internet@TV is not available in some locations. Depending on a content provider’s circumtanc- es, an application’s updates or the application itself may be discontinued. Depending on your country’s regulations, some applications may have limited service or not be supported. When the TV is displaying the Internet@TV screen or any of its subsidiary menu screens, you have 60 seconds to make a selection. 70 English Network Services Starting Internet@TV for the First Time To start up Internet@TV for the fi rst time, follow these steps: Access Internet@TV as described on the previous page. The Internet@TV screen appears. In most cases, immediately after, the Country screen appears. If the Country screen has appeared, use the ▲▼◄►buttons to select your country. When done, press Enter. NOTECertain applications are available only in certain countries. The General Disclaimer screen appears. Use the ◄► buttons to move to Agree, and then press Enter. NOTEScreens can take a few seconds to appear. The Internet Privacy Policy screen appears. Use the ◄► buttons to move to Agree, and then press Enter. The Service Update screen appears and installs a number of services and applications. When done, it closes. The applications and services downloaded are listed on the Internet@TV screen. NOTEInternet@TV may close momentarily during the installation process. A number of screens appear after installation. You can press Enter to close them or let them close on their own. To start an application, use the ▲▼◄► buttons to highlight the application, and then press Enter. The application starts. Account Login For a more enjoyable application experience, register and log in to your account. To do this, you must create an account fi rst. System Setup Change the Service Lock password The Service Lock password function lets you set a password that you can then use to establish password controlled access to Internet@TV services such as Netfl ix and Blockbuster. After you have set the password, you then set a service to locked or unlocked on the Service Manager screen. When a service is locked, you must enter the Service Lock password to access it. To use the Service Lock function, follow these steps: Highlight Change the Service Lock password on the Settngs screen, and then press Enter. On the screen that appears, enter the current password.
