NOTE What is a valid certifi cate? When the product starts BD-LIVE, it sends some disc data and a request to the server to certify the disc. The server uses the transferred data to check if the disc is valid. If the disk is valid, it sends the certifi cate back to the product. The Internet connection may be restricted while you are using BD-LIVE contents. Language You can select the language you prefer for Home menu, disc menu, etc. On-Screen Menu : Select the language for the on-screen displays. Disc Menu : Select the language for the disc menu displays. Audio : Select the language for disc audio. Subtitle : Select the language for disc subtitles. English 53 03 Setup Security When you operate this menu for the fi rst time, the password setup screen appears. Enter the desired 4-digit password using the number buttons. (Default password is set to 0000.) Parental Rating The Parental Rating function works in conjunction with Blu-ray Discs/DVDs that have been assigned a rating. These ratings help you control the types of Blu-ray Discs/ DVDs that your family can watch. To use this function, select a rating level that restricts the home theater to playing discs with ratings appropriate for your family. A larger number indicates that the program is intended for older or adult audiences. When you select a rating number, you should select the highest rating number you want the player to be able to play. For example, if you select Level 6, the player will play discs rated 6 and below, and will not play discs rated Level 7 or 8. 54 English Setup Support Software Upgrade This menu allows you to upgrade software for performance improvements or additional services. You can check the current software version, upgrade using the Internet, and set the Auto upgrade notifi cation. If the product is properly connected to the network by cable or wirelessly, the product automatically connects to our website each time it is turned on and downloads update fi les if any valid upgrade exists. Insert and play the disc in the product to start the update, and then follow the on-screen instructions. NOTE Before you upgrade the software using the USB port, make sure there is no disc in the product. If you want to cancel the upgrade while the upgrade fi les are downloading, press the ENTER button. When the software upgrade is done, check the software details in the software Upgrade menu. Do not turn off the product during the software upgrade. It may cause the product to malfunction. Use only USB fl ash drives when upgrading the software through the USB Host jack. Other kinds of USB devices will not work. English 55 04 Basic Functions Playing a Disc Playback Insert a disc into the disc slot with the disc's label facing front. Press the PLAY (► ) button. Playback related buttons PLAY ( ►) Starts playback. STOP ( ) Stops playback. If you press the button once, the stop position will be memorized. If you press the butto twice, the stop position will be not memorized. With some Blu-ray discs (BD-J), this function may not work. • • PAUSE ( )Pauses playback. If you press the SEARCH ( ) button, the playback speed is reduced as follows: * 1/8 * 1/4 * 1/2 To return to normal speed playback, press the PLAY (► ) button. NOTE No sound is played in slow motion mode. Slow motion operates only in the forward direction. Step Motion Play hzZyx In pause mode, press the PAUSE ( ) button. Each time the PAUSE ( ) button is pressed, a new frame will be appear. To return to normal speed playback, press the PLAY ( ► ) button. NOTE No sound is played in step mode. Press the ▲▼ buttons to select Audio. Press the ENTER button. Press the ▲▼ buttons to select the audio language you want. NOTE The ◄► indicator is not displayed on the screen if the BONUSVIEW section does not contain any BONUSVIEW audio settings. • ✎ ▪ 1. 2. 3. 1. 2. 3. 4. ✎ Information about the primary / secondary mode is also displayed if the Blu-ray Disc has a BONUSVIEW section. Use the ◄► button to switch between primary and secondary audio modes. This function depends on the selection of audio languages encoded on the disc and may not be available. A Blu-ray Disc can contain up to 32 audio languages and a DVD up to 8. Some Blu-ray Discs may allow you to select either the multi-channel LPCM or Dolby digital audio soundtrack in English. Selecting the Subtitle Language hZx During playback, press the TOOLS button. Press the ▲▼ buttons to select Subtitle. Press the ◄► buttons to select the subtitle language you want. NOTE Depending on the Blu-ray Disc / DVD, you may be able to change the desired subtitle in the Disc Menu. Press the DISC MENU button. This function depends on the selection of subtitle languages encoded on the disc and may not be available on all Blu-ray Discs/ DVDs. A Blu-ray Disc can contain up to 255 subtitle languages and a DVD up to 32. Information about the primary / secondary mode is also displayed if the Blu-ray Disc has a BONUSVIEW section. This function changes both the primary and secondary subtitles at the same time. To use the caption function, save the caption fi le (*.smi) in the same fi le name as that of the DivX media fi le (*.avi) within the same folder. Example. Root Samsung_007CD1.avi Samsung_007CD1.smi You can use up to 60 alphanumeric characters or 30 East Asian characters (2 byte characters such as Korean and Chinese) for the fi le name. Changing the Camera Angle hZ When a Blu-ray Disc/DVD contains multiple angles of a particular scene, you can use the ANGLE function. During playback, press the TOOLS button. Press the ▲▼ buttons to select Angle. Press the ◄► buttons to select the desired Angle. Selecting the Picture Setting hzZy This function enables you to adjust video quality when you are connected to a TV via HDMI. During playback, press the TOOLS button. Dynamic : Choose this setting to increase Sharpness. Normal : Choose this setting for most viewing applications.
