Settings224 Set a Screen Lock It is recommended that you secure your device using a Screen lock. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Screen lock type to select a screen lock and level of security: • Swipe : Swipe the screen to unlock it. • Pattern : Create a pattern that you draw on the screen to unlock your device. • PIN : Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. • Password : Create a password for unlocking the screen. • None : Do not lock the screen. • Face: Use facial recognition to unlock your device. • Fingerprints : Use fingerprint recognition to unlock the screen. • Iris : Use iris recognition to unlock the screen. 3. Select your notification preferences, if you choose a secured lock screen option: • Tap On/Off to enable or disable showing notifications on the lock screen. • Hide content : Enable to hide the content of notifications. • Notification icons only : Enable to hide notification details and show only the icon. 4. Choose a screen lock option: • Smart Lock : Unlock your mobile device automatically when trusted locations or other devices have been detected. A secure screen lock is required for this feature.
Settings225 • Secure lock settings: Set your secure lock functions such as Secured lock time and Smart lock. A secure screen lock is required for this feature. Always On Display Settings Choose what to display on a standby screen instead of turning off the screen. Note : To turn this feature on or off without going to Settings, double tap the Always On Display screen. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Always On Display for options: • Tap On/Off to enable the feature, and then set the following options: • Content to show : Choose to show Home, a clock, or information. • Clock style : Select a layout for the standby screen. This is not available if you choose Home button only . • Show always: Enable to show the Always On Display at all times. -Set schedule : If you disable Show always, then set a schedule for when to start and end Always On Display. • About Always On Display : View the current software version and license information.
Settings226 Lock Screen and AOD Settings Configure display settings for the Lock screen and Always On Display (AOD). 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security fo r options: • Information and FaceWidgets : Set a clock, FaceWidgets, or Contact Information to display on the Lock screen and Always On Display screen. • Notifications : Select which notifications to display on the Lock screen and Always On Display screen. • App shortcuts : Select which apps to open from the Lock screen. Samsung Pass Use Samsung Pass to access your favorite services with biometric data. You must sign in to your Samsung account to use Samsung Pass. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Samsung Pass . 3. Follow the prompts to sign to your Samsung account and add your biometric data. Unknown Sources Enable installation of non‑Google Play applications. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Unknown sources to enable this option. Warning : Enabling installation of third‑party applications can cause your device and personal data to be more vulnerable to attacks by unknown sources.
Settings227 Secure Folder Lock your private content and apps to enhance security. You must sign in to your Samsung account in order to use Secure Folder. You must also set a secure lock for your device. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure Folder and follow the prompts to secure content on your device. Secure Startup Protect your device by requiring a numeric PIN or password to be entered before it starts up. You must have a secured screen lock for this option to be available. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Secure startup and select an option. Encrypt SD Card Require a numeric PIN or password to decrypt your optional memory card (not included) when you first access it after powering on your device. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Encrypt SD card . 3. Tap Encrypt SD card and follow the prompts to encrypt all data on your memory card.
Settings228 Set Up SIM Card Lock Require your SIM card PIN to unlock and use your SIM card. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Set up SIM card lock and follow the prompts. • Tap Lock SIM card to enable the feature. • Tap Change SIM card PIN to create a new PIN. View Passwords Display password characters briefly as you type them. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Make passwords visible to turn the feature on. Security Update Service Automatically receive security updates. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following Security update service options: • Security policy updates : Automatically or manually check for security policy updates. -Automatic updates can also be limited to only when your device is connected to a Wi‑Fi network. • Send security reports: Use Wi‑Fi to send security reports to Samsung for threat analysis.
Settings229 Phone Administration Manage your device administrators and application installation privileges. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Phone administrators . • Tap Android Device Manager to allow it to lock or erase a lost device. • Tap Secure Folder to allow it to manage your device. • Tap Support & Protection to protect your mobile device from threats posed by malicious websites. Credential Storage Manage your security certificates. If a certificate authority (CA) certificate gets compromised or for some other reason you do not trust it, you can disable or remove it. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps . 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following options: • Storage type: Select a storage location for credential contents. • View security certificates : Display certificates in your device’s ROM and other certificates you have installed. • User certificates : View user certificates. • Install from phone storage : Install a new certificate from storage. • Clear credentials : Erase the credential contents from the device and reset the password.
Settings230 Advanced Security Settings Use these options to configure advanced security settings. 1. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 2. Tap Settings > Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following advanced options: • Trust agents : Perform selected actions when trusted devices are connected. -To view Trust agents, set up a secured screen lock (Password, PIN, or Pattern). For more information, see “Set a Screen Lock” on page 224. • Pin windows : Pin an app on your device screen, preventing access to other features of your device. • Usage data access : View the applications that can access your device’s usage history. • Notification access : View the applications that can access notifications you receive on your device. • Do not disturb permission : View which apps have permission to change the Do not disturb settings.

Settings232 Samsung Cloud Keep your data safe by backing up device to Samsung cloud storage. This allows you to restore your phone at any time. You can also sync your data from multiple devices. From home, swipe up to access Apps. 1. Tap Settings > Cloud and accounts > Samsung Cloud . • If a Samsung account has not been added, follow the prompts to add one. 2. Once a Samsung account is configured, the following options are available: • Manage cloud storage : View how much cloud storage your data is using. • Backup settings : Configure backup for supported apps using your Samsung Cloud account. • Restore : Download any stored backup information to your device. • Data to sync : Tap the following items to enable or disable syncing: -Contacts (Samsung account) : Sync contact info. -Calendar (Samsung account) : Sync your events and tasks. -Samsung Notes : Sync your notes and categories. -Internet : Sync bookmarks, saved pages, and opened tabs from your browser. -Keyboard data : Sync predictive text data. -Gallery: Sync your images and videos. • More options: -Sync now : Sync all selected settings. -Sync information : View details about the sync process.
