72 ApplicationsChrome The Google Chrome app allows you to use the Google Chrome web browser on your device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Chrome. 2. Re ad the Google Chrome Terms of Service and tap Accept & Continue. 3. If y ou have an existing Chrome account, tap Add an account to bring your open tabs, bookmarks, and omnibox data from your computer to your phone. Otherwise tap No thanks. 4. F ollow the prompts to use Google Chrome. Chrome
73 ApplicationsClock The Clock app offers features for keeping track of time and setting alarms. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap a tab to use a feature: • Alarm: Set an alarm to ring at a specific time. • World clock: View the time of day or night in other parts of the world. World clock displays time in hundreds of different cities, within all 24 time zones around the world. • Stopwatch : Measure intervals of time. • Timer: Use a timer to count down to an event based on a preset time length (hours, minutes, and seconds) . Alarm Set an alarm to ring at a specific time. Create an Alarm Create an alarm event. You can set one-time or recurring alarms, and choose options for how to be notified. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap Alarm > Add. 3. T ap the following items to configure an alarm: • Date : Choose the day for this alarm. • Time: Set a time for the alarm. • Repeat: Choose when to repeat the alarm. • Alarm type: Choose whether the alarm uses sound, vibration, or sound and vibration to alert you. 74 Applications Clock • Volume: Drag the slider to set the volume of the alarm. • Alarm tone: Choose a sound to play for the alarm. • Snooze: Allow snoozing. Set interval and repeat values for the alarm while snoozing. • Increasing volume: Start playing the alarm tone at a low volume at an interval before the alarm time, and slowly increase in volume. This option is available when you have chosen an alarm type that includes sound. • Alarm name: Enter a name for the alarm. 4. T ap Save to save the alarm. Delete an Alarm You can delete an alarm that you created. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. F ind the alarm in the alarm list (under the Alarm tab) , and then tap Delete in the upper right corner of the alarm entry. World Clock The World clock lets you keep track of the current time in multiple cities around the globe. To list a city on the main World clock screen: 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap World clock. 3. T ap Add. 4. S wipe through the list or tap Search to find a specific city. 5. T ap the city to add it to the World clock list. 6. Repe at to add more cities. To remove a city from the main World clock screen: 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap World clock. 3. F ind the city to remove, and then tap Delete in the upper right corner of the city entry.
75 Applications Clock Stopwatch The Stopwatch lets you time events down to a hundredth of a second. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap Stopwatch and use the following options: • Start: Begin timing. • Stop: Stop timing. • Lap: Keep track of lap times. • Resume: Continue timing after stopping the clock. • Reset: Reset the Stopwatch to zero. Timer The Timer provides a countdown timer for up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Clock. 2. T ap Timer. 3. Use t he keypad and tap Hours, Minutes, and Seconds to set the length of the Timer. The following options are available: • Start: Begin the Timer. • Pause: Pause the Timer. • Resume: Resume the Timer. • Cancel: Stop the Timer. • Reset: Reset the Timer.
76 ApplicationsContacts Store and manage your contacts with the Contacts app, which can be synchronized with a variety of your existing personal accounts, including Google, Email, and your Samsung account. For more information on connecting with and managing your accounts through your device, see “Accounts” on page 154 . Note : The Contacts app is different from the Contacts tab in the Phone app. Although both list the contacts in your phone and accounts, the available options and functions are different. Manage Contacts Access your list of contacts by using the Contacts app. To access your Contacts list: ► F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. Find a Contact You can search for a contact or swipe the list to find one by name. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap the Search field, and then enter characters to find contacts that match. – or – Tap a letter on the side of the list to jump directly to that letter in the alphabetical list. You can also slide your finger across the alphabetical list to select a letter with better precision. Contacts
77 Applications Contacts Add a Contact Use the following procedure to add a new contact. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Create contact, and then tap contact fields to enter information. • Choose a storage account for the contact. You can store the contact on the device, your SIM card, or sync it with an account. • Tap Contact photo to assign a picture to the new contact. • Enter a name, phone number, email address, and assign the contact to a group. -Tap Add to enter additional entries. -Tap Remove to remove an entry. -Tap More for additional fields. -Tap the label to the right of an entry to choose a label for the field (for example, Home or Work) . 3. T ap Save . Edit a Contact When editing a contact, you can tap a field and change or delete the information, or you can add more fields to the contact’s list of information. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap the contact to display it, and then tap Edit. 3. T ap any of the fields to add, change, or delete information. 4. T ap Save . Share a Contact When you share a contact, the contact’s information is sent as a vCard file (.vcf) or text file. You can share a vCard using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct, attach it to a message, or save it to a storage location. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap a contact to display it, and then tap More > Share contact. 3. Choose whe ther to send the contact as a vCard file (.vcf) or text file. 4. Choose a sharin g method and follow the prompts.
78 Applications Contacts Link Contacts When you have contacts from various accounts, you may have multiple similar entries for a single contact. Contacts lets you link multiple entries into a single contact. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap the contact to display it. 3. T ap More > Link contacts. 4. T ap contacts to choose them. 5. T ap Link. Unlink Contacts You can unlink a contact that you previously linked. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap the contact to display it. 3. T ap More > Manage linked contacts. 4. T ap Separate beside contacts to unlink them from the main contact. Delete Contacts You can delete a single contact or choose multiple contacts to delete. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ouch and hold a contact to select it. You can also tap other contacts or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all contacts. 3. T ap Delete , and then confirm when prompted.
79 Applications Contacts Favorites When you mark contacts as favorites, they are easily accessible from other apps. Favorites display together on the Favorites tab in the Phone app. Mark Contacts as Favorites You can mark contacts as Favorites. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap a contact to display it, and then tap Add to Favorites (the star brightens ). Remove Contacts from Favorites You can remove contacts from Favorites. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap a contact to display it, and then tap Remove from Favorites (the star dims ). Groups You can use groups to organize your contacts. Your device comes with preloaded groups, and you can create your own. You might create a group for your family, for coworkers, or a team. Groups make it easy to find contacts, and you can send messages to the members of a group. Create a Group You can create your own contact groups. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap Create . 3. T ap fields to enter information about the group: • Group name: Enter a name for the new group. • Group ringtone: Customize the sounds for the group. • Add member: Select contacts to add to the new group, and then tap Done. 4. T ap Save .
80 Applications Contacts Rename a Group You can rename a contact group. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap a group. 3. T ap Edit and enter a new name. 4. T ap Save . Add Contacts to a Group You can add contacts to a group. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap a group. 3. T ap Edit > Add member, and then tap the contacts you want to add. When finished, tap Done. 4. T ap Save . Send a Message to a Group You can send a text message to members of a group. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap a group. 3. T ap More > Send message. 4. T ype your message and tap Send. Send an Email to a Group You can send an email to members of a group. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap a group. 3. T ap More > Send email. 4. T ap contacts to select them, or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all, and then tap Done. • Only group members that have an email address in their records are displayed. 5. Choose an email ac count and follow the prompts. 6. T ype your message and tap Send.
81 Applications Contacts Delete a Group Preset groups cannot be deleted. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap Groups, and then tap the group to delete. 3. T ap More > Delete . 4. T ap Group only to only delete the group or tap Group and members to delete the group and the contacts in the groups. Contacts Settings These settings allow you to modify settings associated with using the Contacts app. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Contacts. 2. T ap More > Settings . 3. T ap an option and follow the prompts.
