142 SettingsThemes Themes Set the theme to be applied to your Home and Lock screens, wallpapers, and app icons. You can apply a theme to your Home or Lock screen. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Themes. • Tap a theme to view a preview of various screens. • Tap More themes to download additional themes from the Theme Store with your Samsung account. 3. T ap Apply to apply the selected theme.
143 SettingsLocation Some apps, such as Google Maps, may require one or more location services be turned on for full functionality. E 9 11 This is a view only field. You cannot turn off E911 Location on any cell phone. E911 Location service is standard on all mobile phones to allow sharing of your GPS location with emergency personnel when you make a call to emergency services (such as 911) . This setting is not configurable. Locating Method Before using any features that require location assistance, you must enable your device’s location services. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Ta p Location. 3. T ap On/Off to turn on Location services. 4. T ap Locating method to select how your location is determined: • High accuracy: Uses GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. • Power saving : Uses Wi-Fi and mobile networks (no GPS) . • GPS only: Uses GPS only. 5. T ap Improve accuracy to use other connections for determining your location: • Wi-Fi scanning: Allow apps and services to scan for Wi-Fi networks automatically, even when Wi-Fi is turned off. • Bluetooth scanning: Allow apps to scan for and connect to nearby devices automatically through Bluetooth, even when Bluetooth is turned off. 144 Settings Location Recent Location Requests Apps that have requested your location are listed under Recent location requests. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Ta p Location. 3. T ap On/Off to turn on Location services. 4. T ap an entry under Recent location requests to view the app’s settings. Location Services Google Location History™ stores and uses your device’s most recent location data. Google apps, such as Google Maps, can use this data to improve your search results based on places that you have visited. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Ta p Location. 3. T ap On/Off to turn on Location services. 4. T ap Google Location History and sign in to your Google Account for more options.
145 SettingsLock Screen and Security Lock Screen and Security Secure your device and protect your data with Lock Screen and Security settings. Set a Screen Lock It is recommended that you secure your device using a Screen lock. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Screen lock type to select a screen lock and level of security: • Swipe: Swipe the screen to unlock it. This option provides no security. • Pattern : Create a pattern that you draw on the screen to unlock your device. This option provides medium security. • PIN : Select a PIN to use for unlocking the screen. This option provides medium to high security. • Password: Create a password for unlocking the screen. This option provides high security. • None: Never use a Lock screen. 3. S elect your notification preferences, if you choose a secured lock screen option: • Show content • Hide content • Do not show notifications

Choose a scr een lock option: • Info and app shortcuts: Display a dual clock, or information such as the weather, on the Lock screen. • Notifications on lock screen: Show notifications on the Lock screen. • Secure lock settings: Set your secure lock functions such as Secured lock time and Smart lock. This option is not available with Swipe. Note : Options vary based on the screen lock type. Unknown Sources Enable installation of non- Google Play applications. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Unknown sources to enable this option. Warning: Enabling installation of third-party applications can cause your device and personal data to be more vulnerable to attacks by unknown sources. Encrypt Phone Protect your device by encrypting its data. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Encrypt phone. 3. T ap Encrypt phone and follow the prompts to encrypt all data on your device. Encrypt SD Card Require a numeric PIN or password to decrypt your SD card (not included) when you first access it after powering on your device. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Encrypt SD card. 3. T ap Encrypt SD card and follow the prompts to encrypt all data on your memory card.
147 Settings Lock Screen and Security Other Security Settings SIM Card Lock Require both your SIM card PIN and your ordinary screen lock type when unlocking the device. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Set up SIM card lock and follow the prompts. 3. T ap Lock SIM card to enable the feature. 4. T ap Change SIM card PIN to create a new PIN. View Passwords Display password characters briefly as you type them. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Make passwords visible to turn the feature on. Security Update Service Automatically receive security updates. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following Security update service options: • Security policy updates: Automatically or manually check for security policy updates. -Automatic updates can also be limited to only when your device is connected to a Wi - Fi network. • Send security reports: Use Wi-Fi to send security reports to Samsung for threat analysis.
148 Settings Lock Screen and Security Device Administration Manage your device administrators and application installation privileges. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings > Phone administrators. • Tap Android Device Manager to allow it to lock or erase a lost device. • Tap Support & Protection to enable it. Credential Storage Manage your security certificates. If a certificate authority (CA) certificate gets compromised or for some other reason you do not trust it, you can disable or remove it. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following Credential storage options: • Storage type: Select a storage location for credential contents. • View security certificates: Display certificates in your device’s ROM and other certificates you have installed. • User certificates: View user certificates. • Install from device storage: Install a new certificate from storage. • Clear credentials: Erase the credential contents from the device and reset the password.
149 Settings Lock Screen and Security Advanced Security Settings Use these options to configure advanced security settings. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Lock screen and security > Other security settings for the following advanced options: • Trust agents: Perform selected actions when trusted devices are connected. -To view Trust agents, set up a secured screen lock (Password, PIN, or Pattern) . For more information, see “Set a Screen Lock” on page 145 . • Pin windows: Pin an app on your device screen, preventing access to other features of your device. • Usage data access: View the applications that can access your device’s usage history. • Notification access: View the applications that can access notifications you receive on your device. • Do not disturb permission: View which apps have permission to change the Do not disturb settings.
150 SettingsPrivacy and Emergency Privacy and Emergency Choose from various modes designed to hide personal content from being accessed by anyone else using your device, or to aid you in an emergency. App Permissions Control which apps have permissions to use certain features of your device. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Privacy and emergency > App permissions. 3. T ap the following features to see which apps have permission to access them: • Body sensors • Calendar • Camera • Contacts • Location • Microphone • Phone • SMS • Storage • Additional permissions 4. T ap On/Off next to each app to enable or disable permissions for that feature.
151 Settings Privacy and Emergency Send SOS Messages Send a quick alert to your primary contacts when you are in an emergency situation. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Privacy and emergency > Send SOS messages . 3. T ap On/Off to turn the feature on and configure the following options: • Send messages to: Add recipients by creating new contacts or selecting from Contacts. • Attach pictures: Send pictures to your emergency contacts. • Attach audio recording: Send a short audio message to your emergency contacts. To send a help message: ► Pr ess the Power key quickly three times. Emergency Mode Use Emergency mode to conserve battery power during emergencies. Power- hungry apps and functions are disabled, but you are still able to send messages, use Contacts, and make emergency calls. 1. F rom a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. T ap Privacy and emergency > Emergency mode. 3. T ap On/Off to turn the feature on.
