Saved Pages Saving a web page stores the web page content on your device so that you can access it oine. To save the current web page: ► Tap More > Save web page. To view saved web pages: 1. Tap Bookmarks > Saved pages. 2. Tap a saved pag e to open it in the browser. View History To view a list of recently visited web pages: ► Tap Bookmarks > History. Share Pages To share a web page address with others: ► Tap More > Share, and follow the prompts. Secret Mode Pages viewed in Secret mode are not listed in your browser history or search history, and leave no traces (such as cookies) on your device. Secret tabs are a darker shade than the normal tab windows. Note : Any downloaded les remain on your device after you close the secret tab. To enable Secret mode: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Internet. 2. Tap Ta b s. 3. Tap Turn on secr et. 4. Tap Create password to protect your Secret mode data with a password. – or – Tap Do not use password. Memo Use Memo to write and save notes on your device. Compose a Memo You can create memos using the Memo app. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Memo. 2. Tap Creat e memo and type a memo. Available opt ions inc lude: Categor y: Add or change the category. • Tasks : Add tasks. • Image: Insert an image into the memo. • Drawing: Create a drawing and add it to the memo. • Voice: Use your voice to insert text into the memo. • 3. Tap Sa ve when nished. Edit Memos You can make edits to memos you create. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Memo. 2. Tap a memo to view it . 3. Tap the content and make edits. When you are nished, tap Save . Browse Memos You can browse memos you create. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Memo. • Browse memo entries by swiping up or down. • To search for a memo, tap Search. Memo Options You can edit, share, or manage memos. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Memo. 2. Messages Learn how to send and receive dierent messages using the Samsung Messages app on your device. Types of Messages The Samsung Messages app provides the following message types: • Text Messages (SMS) • Multimedia Messages (MMS) The Short Message Service (SMS) lets you send and receive text messages to and from other mobile phones or email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider’s message service. The Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) lets you send and receive multimedia messages (such as picture, video, and audio messages) to and from other mobile phones or email addresses. To use this feature, you may need to subscribe to your service provider’s multimedia message service. Messaging icons are displayed at the top of the screen and indicate when messages are received and their type. Create and Send Messages This section describes how to create and send a message using the Messages app. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap Compose . 3. Tap the Enter recipients eld to manually enter a recipient or tap Add Recipient to select a recipient from y our C ontacts. You can also select the recipient based on Groups, Favorites, or Logs. • If adding a recipient from your Contacts, tap the contact to place a checkmark, and then tap Done. The contact is placed in the recipients eld. • Enter additional recipients by separating each entry with a semicolon (;) and then using the previous procedure. More recipients can be added at any time before the message is sent. • For the Group option, if the number of recipients is less than ten, all members in the group are added. You must delete any unnecessary members in the list by selecting the trash can icon and deleting unwanted entries. 4. Tap the Enter message eld to enter a message. Attach: Add images, audio, and more to your message. • Add emoji: Choose an available emoji from the list and add it into your message at the cursor locat ion. • 5. Revie w the message and tap Send. Note: If you e xit a message before you send it, the message is automatically saved as a draft. 57 Messages Applications
View New Messages When you receive a new message, New message appears on the Status bar. To view the mes sage: ► Open the Notication panel and tap the message. For more information, see Notication Panel . – or – From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages , and then tap t he ne w message to view it. • To play a multimedia message attachment (audio or video) , tap Play. • To scroll through the list of messages, swipe up or down the page. Delete Messages To delete messages, follow these steps: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap More > Delete. 3. Tap each message you want to delete or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all messages. 4. Tap Delete and conrm if prompted. Message Search You can search through your messages by using the Message Search feature. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap Searc h. 3. Enter a word or phrase to search for, and then tap Search on the keyboard. Messages Settings Congure the settings for text messages, multimedia messages, push messages, and more. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages > More > S ettings. Emergency Alerts This device is designed to receive wireless emergency alerts from the Commercial Mobile Alerting System (CMAS) , which may also be known as the Personal Localized Alerting Network (PLAN) . For more information, contact your wireless provider. Emergency alerts allows customers to receive geographically-targeted messages. Alert messages notify customers of imminent threats to their safety within their area. There is no charge for receiving an Emergency alert message. There are three types of Emergency alerts: • Alerts issued by the President • Alerts involving imminent threats to safety of life (extreme and severe) • AMBER alerts (missing child alert) Users may choose not to receive Imminent alerts (extreme and severe) and AMBER alerts. Note : Alerts issued by the President cannot be disabled. To disable Imminent and AMBER alerts: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Messages . 2. Tap More > Settings > Emergency alert settings. 3. Tap Emergency alerts. • All alerts are enabled (on) by default. 4. Tap an alert option to disable it. 58 Messages Applications
My Files Access les stored on your device, including images, videos, music, and sound clips. To view les in My Files: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Samsung folder > My Files. 2. Tap a categ ory to view the relevant les or folders. 3. Tap a le or folder to open it. File Groups Files stored in the device are organized into the following groups: • Recent les : View recently saved les. This only appears if one or more les have been accessed recently. • Device storage : View folders and les located on the device. • SD card : View folders and les located on the optional SD card (not included). - This option only appears if an optional SD card is installed. • Download history : View all apps and les that have been downloaded to the device. • Documents : View document les. • Images: View image les. • Audio: View audio les. • Videos : View video les. My Files Options Use My File options to search, edit, clear le history, and more. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Samsung folder > My F iles. The following options are available: • Search: Search for a le or folder. • More: Tap for the following options: - Clear recent le history: Clear the Recent les category. - Show/Conceal hidden les: Show or conceal hidden les. • Storage usage: Tap to view memory information for your device. 59 My Files Applications
Voice Recorder Record voice memos and notes. Create a Voice Recording To create a Voice recording: ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Samsung f older > V oice Recorder. The following additional controls are available: Record: Record an audio le. • Pause: Pause the recording of an audio le. • Play : Play back the current recording. • • Save : Save the current recording. • Bookmark: Bookmark the current position of the recording. • More: - Turn on Call rejection: Automatically reject phone calls while recording. Manage Recordings To display a list of recordings: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Voice Recorder . 2. Tap Recordings . There must be at least one saved recording. To search through available recordings: ► Tap More > Search. Share Recordings To delete one or more voice recordings: 1. Tap More > Share. 2. Tap each recording you want to share, or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all recordings. 3. Tap Share and select a sharing method. Follow the prompts to proceed. Delete Recordings To delete one or more voice recordings: 1. Tap More > Edit. 2. Tap each recording you want to delete, or tap the All checkbox at the top of the screen to select all recordings. 3. How to Use Settings Access Settings There are a couple of ways to access your device settings. ► From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . – or – Drag down from the S t atus bar to display the Notication panel, and then tap Settings. Categories of Settings Settings are grouped into categories. • Connections: Congure your connections to other devices and networks. • Device: Customize the device’s display, sounds and more. • Personal: Congure your personal accounts and preferences. • System: Customize the device’s system settings. Search for Settings If you are not sure exactly where to nd a certain setting, you can use the Search feature. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings . 2. Tap Search. • Enter a word or words in the Search eld. As you type, settings that match display on the screen. • Tap an entry to go to that setting. Settings 62 How to Use Settings
- Wi-Fi Wi‑Fi is a term used for certain types of Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) . Wi‑Fi communication requires access to a wireless Access Point (AP) . Tu rn Wi-Fi On or O Turning Wi-Fi on makes your device able to discover and connect to compatible in-range wireless APs. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connect ions . 2. Tap Wi-Fi , and then tap On/O to turn Wi-Fi on or o. Wi-Fi Status Indicators Status bar icons indicate your current Wi-Fi connection status: • When Wi-Fi is connected, active, and communicating with a wireless Access Point, Wi-Fi active is displayed in the Status bar. • If a Wi-Fi access point is available, but your device is not connected to it, Wi-Fi available is displayed. It ma y also display if there is a communication issue with the target wireless Access Point. Wi-Fi Networks To scan for a Wi-Fi network and connect to it: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connect ions . 2. Tap Wi-Fi , and then tap On/O to turn Wi-Fi on. • When Wi-Fi is turned on, your device automatically scans for available networks and displays them. 3. Tap the network you want to connect to. • When you select an open network, you are automatically connected to the network. Otherwise, enter a password to connect. Manually Connect to a Wi-Fi Network You can connect your device to a Wi-Fi network manually. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connect ions . 2. Tap Wi-Fi , and then tap On/O to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. Tap More > Add network. 4. Enter information about the Wi-Fi network: • Enter network name: Enter the name of the Wi-Fi network. • Security: Select a security option and enter your password. • Show advanced options: Add advanced options such as IP settings and Proxy settings. 5. - Wi-Fi Options The Wi-Fi settings menu allows you to set up many of your device’s advanced Wi-Fi services. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connect ions . 2. Tap Wi-Fi , and then tap On/O to turn Wi-Fi on. 3. Tap More for options: • Add network: Manually add a Wi-Fi network. • WPS push button: Set up a connection to a WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) router or other equipment. • WPS PIN entry: View the PIN used by your device to set up a PIN-secured connection to a Wi-Fi router or other equipment (not congurable) . • Smart network switch: Connect automatically to a mobile network connection when the Wi-Fi connection is unstable. • Advanced: - Network notication: Receive notications when open networks in range are detected. - Hotspot 2.0: Automatically connect to Wi-Fi access points that support Hotspot 2.0. - Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep: Specify when to disconnect from Wi-Fi. - Auto connect to AT&T Wi-Fi: Automatically connect to an AT&T Wi-Fi Hotspot as soon as your device detects it. - Install network certicates: Install authentication certicates. - MAC address: View your device’s MAC address, which is required when connecting to some secured networks (not congurable) . - IP address: View your device’s IP address (not congurable) . Wi-Fi Direct Wi-Fi Direct allows direct device-to-device connections using Wi-Fi, without having to connect to a Wi-Fi network. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Connect ions . 2. Tap Wi-Fi , and then tap On/O to turn Wi-Fi on. Wi-Fi must be on to congure settings. 3. Tap Wi-Fi Direct. Your device automatically scans for nearby Wi-Fi Direct devices. 4. Select a device, and then follow the prompts to complete the connection. Wi-Fi Direct Status Indicator Status bar icons indicate your current Wi-Fi Direct connection status: • When your device is connected to another device using Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Direct is displayed in the Stat us bar.
