To reset your device: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Per sonal . 2. Tap Back up and reset > Factory data reset. 3. Tap Reset device and follow the prompts to perform the reset. 4. When the device restarts, follow the prompts to set up your device. Settings 95 Backup and Reset
Language and Input Congure your device’s language and input settings. Language You can select a default language for your device’s menus and keyboards. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > System. 2. Tap Language and input > Language. 3. Select a language from the list. Default Keyboard You can select a default keyboard for your device’s menus and keyboards. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > System. 2. Tap Language and input > Default keyboard. 3. Select a keyboard. Note : Additional keyboards can be downloaded from the Google Play store. Samsung Keyboard Congure options for using the Samsung keyboard. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > System. 2. Tap Language and input > Samsung keyboard for options: • English(US): Set the keyboard type: Qwerty keyboard or 3x4 keyboard. • Add input languages: Choose which languages are available on the keyboard. To switch between langua ges, slide the Space bar sideways. • Predictive text: Predictive text suggests words that match your text entries, and can automatically complete common words. Predictive text can learn your personal writing style from your contacts, messages, Gmail, and social networking sites — improving its accuracy of predicting your text entries. • Additional keyboard settings provide assistance with capitalization, punctuation, and much more. Google Voice Typing Text-to-Speech Options Speak rather than type your text entries using Google voice typing. Congure your Text-to-Speech (TTS) options. TTS is used for v arious accessibility features, such as Voice Assistant. For more information, see 1. From a Home screen, t ap Apps > Settings > Syst em . 2. Tap Langua ge and input > Google voice typing for options: • Languages: Select languages for Google voice typing. • “Ok Google” detection: Launch a Google search whenever you say “Ok Google”. • Now on tap: Get info based on the current app screen when searching by voice or holding down the Home key. • Hands-free: Allow requests with the device locked. • Speech output: Select options for spoken feedback. • Oine speech recognition: Download and install speech recognition engines, allowing you to use voice input while not connected to the network. • Block oensive words: Hide search results that contain oensive words. • Bluetooth headset: Use audio input from a Bluetooth headset (not included) if one is connected. Tap Langua ge and input > Text-to-speech for options: • Google text-to-speech engine: Choose the default text-to-speech engine. Tap Settings for options. • Speech rate: Set the speed at which the text is spoken. • Default language status: Display the default language in use. Battery View how battery power is used for device activities. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Syst em. 2. Tap Bat tery for options: • Power saving mode: Save battery power by limiting your device’s performance, limiting vibration feedback, and restricting location services and most background data. • Ultra power saving mode: Save battery power by applying a simplied grayscale theme to your Home screen and limiting the number of usable apps. • Display battery percentage: Display the battery charge percentage next to the battery icon on the Status bar. • Past and predicted usage: View estimated usage time remaining based on your usage over the last 7 days. • Recent battery usage: Tap an item to view details of its battery usage. 3. Tap More for the following options: • Refresh: Update the listing. • Optimize battery usage: Choose apps to optimize their individual battery usage. Settings 98 Battery
Storage View the device memory and usage. Mount, unmount, or format an optional memory card (not included) . Device Memory View and manage the memory used by the device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Sys t em. 2. Tap St orage . • Device storage used out of the total space available is displayed. 3. Tap Internal storage for the following: • Total space: The total amount of memory on your device. • Available space: The amount of storage space currently available. • System memory: The minimum amount of storage space required to run the system. • Used space: The amount of storage space currently being used. • Other: The space used by app data, downloaded les, and Android system les. • Cached data: The amount of data currently cached. • Explore: Launch My Files to view content stored on your device. To increase available memory: 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Sys t em. 2. Tap St orage . 3. Tap Internal storage > Cached data to clear cached data for all apps. 4. Tap Delete to conrm. Memory Card (SD Card) Once an optional memory card (not included) has been installed in your device, the card memory is displayed as part of Total space and Available space. For more information on memory card installation, see Install a Memory Card . Mount a Memory Card When you install an optional memory card, it is automatically mounted (connected to the device) and prepared for use. However, should you unmount the card without removing it from the device, you need to mount it before it can be accessed. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Syst em. 2. Remove a Memory Card Warning: To prevent damage to information stored on the memory card, unmount the card before removing it from the device. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > System . 2. Tap Sto rage > SD card. 3. Tap > Unmount. 4. Remove the back cover. For more information, see Remove the Back Cover . 5. Slide the card out carefully. 6. Replace the back cover. Format a Memory Card Warning: When formatting an SD card, you should back up your music and photo les that are stored on the card because formatting the SD card deletes all the stored data. 1. Date and Time By default, your device receives date and time information from the wireless network. When you are outside network coverage, you may want to set date and time information manually using the date and time settings. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > System . 2. Tap Dat e and time. The following options are available: • Automatic date and time: Receive date and time updates from the wireless network. • Set date : Enter the current date (only available when Automatic date and time is disabled) . • Set time: Enter the current time (only available when Automatic date and time is disabled) . • Select time zone: Choose your local time zone (only available when Automatic date and time is disabled) . • Use 24-hour format: Set the format for displaying time. About Device View information about your device, including current status, legal information, hardware and software versions, and more. 1. From a Home screen, tap Apps > Settings > Syst em. 2. Tap About de vice, and then tap items for more details: • Software update: Check for and install available software updates. • Status: View the status of the battery, network, and other information about your device. • Legal information: View legal notices and other legal information. • Device name: View and change your device’s name. • Additional device information includes the Model number, Android version, Build number, and more.
