Call Functions 25 Driving Mode When Driving Mode is enabled, your phone uses sounds to alert you to notifications, regardless of other phone or call settings. For example, when you receive a call or message, your phone reads out the caller’s (or sender’s) name and number, and Call Alert sounds will play, even if you have set Master Volume to Sounds Off or Vibrate Only. Enabling Driving Mode with Voice Commands 1.From the Home screen, press the Voice Commands/ Flashlight Key. 2.At the audio prompt, say “Driving Mode On”. Enabling Driving Mode with the Speakerphone Key With the phone closed, press and hold the Speakerphone Key. Enabling Driving Mode in Settings 1.From the Home screen, select MENU ➔ Settings & Tools ➔ Sounds Settings ➔ Driving Mode. 2.Choose a setting: Caller ID Only: Reads Caller ID for incoming calls and messages. ID & Message: Reads Caller ID and the message content for incoming messages. : Disable Driving Mode.
26 Section 4: Push-to-Talk (PTT) Functions If you depend on instant communication, choose Verizon Wireless Push-to-Talk (PTT). Whether at home, in the office or across the country, you can quickly connect with one or multiple users at the same time with just a push of a button. Plus, you can make regular voice calls on the Verizon Wireless network. For Alert calls, press the PTT/Side Key send an alert to the recipient to notify them about a call. The recipient can choose to respond and begin the conversation, then you alternate pressing and holding the PTT/Side Key while speaking, and releasing the key to listen. Alternatively, you can place a Barge call by pressing the PTT/Side Key to hear a tone, then pressing and holding the key while speaking. In this case, your voice will be broadcast instantly over the recipient’s speaker. Enabling PTT Mode on Your Phone You must contact Verizon Wireless to activate Push-to-Talk service on your account. Once Push-to-Talk service has been activated, please follow these steps to enable Push-to-Talk on your phone. 1.From the Home screen, select MENU ➔ Settings & Tools ➔ PTT Settings ➔ PTT Mode. 2.Select On to enable PTT Mode, or Off to disable. Making PTT Calls Your phone offers multiple ways to make PTT calls: Enter a PTT number on the Keypad. For more information, see “Making PTT Calls Using the Keypad” on page 27. Call a PTT Contact from Contacts. For more information, see “Making PTT Calls from Contacts” on page 28. Make a call to a PTT Group or PTT Temp Group from Contacts. For more information, see “Making PTT Group Calls from Contacts” on page 29. Return a call, or call a recent caller via Recent Calls. For more information, see “Making PTT Calls From Recent Calls” on page 30.

Your phone offers several methods for making group calls: Choose a PTT Group from Contacts. Select a group call saved in Recent Calls. Select and/or enter numbers for a one-time call. During a Group call, the following information may appear on your screen, depending on your coverage area and the coverage of participants, and your service plan: The name of the Group, if it is a group call to a PTT Group. The name or PTT number of the person speaking. The number of group members who are connected on the call out of the number invited. Note: For information about creating PTT Groups in Contacts, see “PTT Groups” on page 51. Making a PTT Group Call Tip: You can also make PTT calls with the phone closed, using the Speakerphone. Press the PTT/Side Key to start, then use the external keys to find a PTT contact, group or call record and make the call. To end a call, press and hold the Speakerphone Key. Making a PTT Group Call using a Temp Group To set up a one-time PTT group call, use a Temp PTT Group. Making Barge Calls 1.Press the PTT/Side Key to display the PTT Contact List. – or – From the Home screen, select MENU ➔ Contacts ➔ PTT Contact List. 2.Press the Right Soft Key Options ➔ Temp PTT Group. 3.Press ADD to select PTT Contacts. 4.Press the PTT/Side Key. A tone plays and and “ Connected to” displays. 5.Press and hold the PTT/Side Key, and begin talking. “ Talking to” displays on your phone screen. 6.Press the End/Power Key to end the call.

Answering Push-to-Talk Calls When you receive a PTT call, your phone plays a tone or vibrates to alert you to the call, and the caller’s number or name (if the number is stored as a contact) displays on the screen. Tip: PTT calls are automatically connected when the phone is closed. Press the PTT/Side Key to initiate talking. To end a call, press and hold the Speakerphone Key. Answering Barge Calls In a “barge” call, the caller presses the PTT key on their phone to establish a call, and can immediately begin talking. 1.A tone plays, then the caller will proceed with the call. “ Connected to” displays on your phone’s screen, then “ Listening to” while the caller is talking. 2.Press the End/Power Key to end the call.
