81 Maintenance of the camera [Maintenance] System log check, firmware upgrade, and initialization of the setup menu\ can be performed on this page. The Maintenance page has 3 tabs; the [System log] tab, the [Upgrade] t\ ab and the [Default reset] tab. Check the system log [System log] Click the [System log] tab of the Maintenance page. (pages 20 and 21: How to display/operate the setup menu) Up to 4 000 system logs can be saved on the SD memory card when the SD m\ emory card is inserted after selecting Use for SD memory card on the [SD memory card] tab ( page 26). When Not use is selected for SD memory card, up to 100 system logs c\ an be saved on the built-in memory of the camera. When the saved system logs have reached the maximum number, the newer lo\ gs will overwrite the older system logs. In this case, the oldest log is the first to be overwritten. The system logs will be displayed in group of 100 logs each. When using the SD memory card, the logs will be saved even when the powe\ r of the camera is turned off. When not using the SD memory card, the logs will be deleted when the power of the\ camera is turned off. [Next 100 >>] When clicking Next 100 >>, the next 100 system logs will be displayed. [
82 Upgrade the firmware [Upgrade] Click the [Upgrade] tab of the Maintenance page. (pages 20 and 21: How to display/operate the setup menu) The current firmware can be checked and upgraded to the latest version o\ n this page. Contact the dealer for further information about the firmware upgrade. [Model no.], [MAC address], [Serial no.], [Firmware version], [IPL version], [HTML version], [IP address (IPv6)], [Viewer software installation counter] Information of each item will be displayed. Step1 Contact the dealer and download the latest firmware onto a PC. Important: • A blank (space) cannot be used for the name of the directory where the downloaded firmware to be saved. Step 2 Click the [Browse...] button and designate the down- loaded firmware. Step 3 Click the radio button respective to the desired option to determine whether or not to initialize the settings after completing the firmware upgrade. Note: • Read the Readme file provided with the firmware first and determine whether or not to reset the set- tings to the defaults after the firmware upgrade. Step 4 Click the [Execute] button. → The confirmation window will be displayed. When Do not reset the settings to the default after the upgrade. is selected, the confirmation window will not be displayed. After completing the upgrade, delete temporary internet files. ( page 91) Important: • Upgrade the firmware using a PC in the same sub- net as the camera. • Follow the instructions from the dealer when upgrad- ing the firmware. • Use the designated file (extension: img) for the firmware upgrade. • The name of the firmware to be used for the upgrade should be np502_xxxxx.img. (The same holds true for WV-NW502S.) * (xxxxx indicates the version of the firmware.) • Do not turn off the power of the camera during the upgrade process. • Do not perform any operation during upgrading and wait until it completes. • The following network settings will not be reset when upgrading the firmware after selecting Reset the settings to the default after completing the upgrade. (Except the network settings). On/Off for DHCP, IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, HTTP port, line speed, bandwidth control (bit rate), time & date • The viewer software used on each PC should be licensed individually. Refer to your dealer for the software licensing.
83 Reset the settings/Reboot the camera [Default reset] Click the [Default reset] tab of the Maintenance page. (pages 20 and 21: How to display/operate the setup menu) The settings and the HTML data of the camera can be initialized and rebo\ ot of the camera can be performed on this page. [Reset to the default (Except the network settings)] Click the [Execute] button to reset the settings to the default. Note that the network settings will not be reset. It is impossible to operate the camera for around 2 min- utes after the initialization. [Load the default HTML files (setup menu).] Click the [Execute] button to reset the HTML files to the default. It is impossible to operate the camera for around 2 min- utes after the initialization. [Reset to the default and load the default HTML files.] Click the [Execute] button to reset the settings of the camera and the HTML files to the default. Note that the network settings will not be reset. It is impossible to operate the camera for around 2 min- utes after the initialization. [Reboot] Click the [Execute] button to reboot the camera.It is impossible to operate the camera for around 2 minute s after rebooting the camera. Note: • To initialize the network settings ( page 72), turn on the power of the camera while holding down the [INITIAL SET] button on the camera. The settings including the network settings will be initialized. Wait around 2 minute after releasing the button. The cam- era will start up and the settings including the net- work settings will be initialized. • The notification function allows users to provide the notification of the error to the specified mail address and an original alarm destination when an error such as no SD memory card insertion after the reboot or a locked SD memory card insertion occurs. ( pages 61 and 62)

If not, proceed either of the following. •Reboot the camera and change the IP address by using the Panasonic IP setup software within 20 minutes after the restart. • Reboot the camera while holding the [INITIAL SET] button on the camera. The camera will be initialized and the IP address will return to the default setting 192.168.0.10. After the camera is initialized, access the camera and set the IP address again. (When the camera is initialized, all the settings of the camera previously configured on the setup menus will be initialized.) •Is the power of the camera on? Check if the power of the camera is turned on. •Is the LAN cable (category 5 or better) firmly connected to the network connector of the camera? It is necessary in advance to select Allow for FTP access to camera on the [Network] tab of the Network page. •Is the viewer software installed on the PC? Install the viewer software on a PC. •Is the version of DirectX 9.0c or later? Check the version of DirectX as follows. (1) Select Run … from the start menu of Windows ®. (2) Enter dxdiag in the displayed dialog box and click the [OK] button. If the version of DirectX is older than 9.0c, upgrade it. Cannot obtain images on the SD memory card. No image is displayed. Restart the browser and retry to obtain images. 66 – • Is the same IP address provided to other devices? Are there contradictions between the address and the network subnet to be accessed? Are the IP addresses of the camera and the PC set in a common subnet? Or is Use Proxy Server for the set- tings of the web browser checked? When accessing the camera in the same subnet, it is recommended to enter the address of the camera in the Don’t Use Proxy For These Addresses box. (3) When using Internet Explorer 6.0 Click the [Settings…] button in the Temporary Internet files section on the [General] tab, and then select Every visit to the page for Check for newer versions of stored pages: on the Settings win- dow. 89 • When flicker occurs frequently, select Indoor scene for Light control mode. •Is the brightness setting set at an appropriate level? It is recommended to replace the SD memory card. •Is the SD memory card inserted correctly? Check if the SD memory card is inserted correctly. •Is the SD memory card formatted?
