    Adjusting Brightness and 
    Color Level on the LCD 
    Monitor
    LCD Brightness [Brightness]
    It adjusts the brightness of the image on the LCD 
    screen.
    LCD Color Level [Color]
    It adjusts the color saturation of the image on the LCD 
    screen.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [PICTURE] 
    or [MPEG4].
    2Press the [MENU] Button.
    3Select [Display setup] and press the Jog 
    Ball.
    4Select [Brightness] or [Color].
    5Roll the Jog Ball LEFT or RIGHT for 
    adjustment.
    ≥If [Brightness] is selected, the brightness can be 
    increased by moving the [ ] to the right.
    ≥If [Color] is selected, the color can become 
    darker by moving the [ ] to the right.
    6Press the [MENU] Button.
    ≥The [MENU] screen disappears. (If left unused 
    for approx. 5 seconds, the display will 
    automatically revert to the [Display setup] 
    screen.)
    ≥These adjustments do not affect the recorded 
    images.

    Basic Functions
    Recording Still Pictures
    Records still pictures. 
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [PICTURE].
    2Press the [MENU] Button.
    3Set [Picture size] to desired picture size.
    ≥Select one of [1600a1200], [1280a960], or 
    [640a480].
    4Set [Quality] to desired picture quality.
    ≥Select one of [Fine] or [Normal].
    5To use the flash, Set [Flash] to [Flash on] 
    or [Auto].
    ≥When [Flash] is set to [Auto],   will be 
    displayed in a dark place and the Flash will be 
    available.
    ≥Set [Flash] to [Off] to inactivate the Flash.
    6Press the [MENU] Button.
    7Press the Recording Start/Stop Button.
    ≥The still image is recorded on the Memory Card.
    ªTo Check the Recorded Image 
    immediately 
    Press the Jog Ball 1 or set the LCD Monitor to the 
    Viewer position 2. 
    1The recorded image displays for approx. 
    5 seconds.
    2The still images are displayed until the LCD Monitor 
    is set up as 1.
    ≥The [REVIEW] Indication is displayed.
    ≥Press the [MENU] Button when the checking 
    display appears to show [Erase card file] display. 
    Select [Yes] and press the Jog Ball to delete the 
    image.

    Playing Back Still Pictures
    This mode plays back still pictures recorded on the 
    Memory Card.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [PICTURE].
    ≥Still picture files recorded on the Memory Card 
    are displayed in the index picture screen.
    2Roll the Jog Ball to select a desired file.
    3Press the Jog Ball.
    ≥A still picture file is played back on the LCD 
    Monitor.
    ªOperation during Playback
    ªTo Play Back All of the Still Pictures 
    One by One
    While playing back, Press the Jog Ball for 
    1 second or more 1.
    ≥The image is played back for approx. 3 seconds.
    ≥Press the Jog Ball to stop.
    ≥Roll the Jog Ball DOWN to pause, and roll the Jog 
    Ball UP to resume playback.
    ªTo Double the Image Size
    While playing back, rotate the Zoom/Volume Lever 
    toward [T] 2.
    ≥Rotate the Zoom/Volume Lever toward [W] to 
    resume normal playback.
    ≥Roll the Jog Ball to change the enlarging area of the 
    image.(Cannot select files unless you restore the 
    size of a picture.)
    ≥Depending on the image, you cannot enlarge it.
    ≥Only JPEG images that were created by this product 
    will be displayed correctly. Files that are copied to the 
    SD card may not be displayed properly, or not at all. Stop (Reverts to the 
    index picture screen.)Press the Jog Ball
    Displays the next 
    (previous) screenRoll the Jog Ball RIGHT

    Recording Moving Pictures 
    (MPEG4)
    You can record moving pictures on the Memory Card.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [MPEG4].
    2Press the [MENU] Button.
    3Set the [MPEG4 mode] to desired picture 
    quality.
    ≥Select one of [Extra fine], [Super fine], [Fine] or 
    [Economy].
    ≥Press the [MENU] Button after completing the 
    setting. 
    4Press the Recording Start/Stop Button.
    ≥Recording starts.
    ≥While recording the moving picture, press the 
    Recording Start/Stop Button to stop recording.
    ≥If you select [Economy] on [MPEG4 mode], the 
    quality of image will deteriorate.
    ≥If the moving picture is recorded again after stopping 
    recording, it will be saved as another file.
    ≥Digital Zoom Function, Night View Function, 
    Backlight Compensation Function and White 
    Balance adjustment cannot be selected during 
    recording of MPEG4 moving pictures.

    Playing Back Moving 
    Pictures (MPEG4)
    Plays back moving pictures recorded on the Memory 
    Card.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [MPEG4].
    ≥Moving picture files recorded on the Memory 
    Card are displayed in the index picture screen.
    2Roll the Jog Ball to select a desired file.
    3Press the Jog Ball.
    ≥A moving picture file is played back.
    ≥After playing back continuously from the selected 
    file to the last file, the display reverts to the index 
    picture screen.
    ≥Indication A displays for about 3 seconds from a 
    playback start.
    ªOperation during Playback
    ≥The image can be fast-forwarded or fast-rewound by 
    pressing [9/:] on the remote controller during 
    playback. (No audio is output during fast-forwarding/
    fast-backwarding.) (l30)
    ≥The playback speed becomes normal when you 
    reach the next file.
    ªTo Change the Display Size
    Press the [MENU] Button and set [Screen] to [Full] 
    or [Normal]. 1
    ªFor Repeat Playback
    Press the [MENU] Button and set [Repeat] to 
    [1File] or [All]. 2 Stop (Reverts to the

    Voice Recording 
    (Voice Recording Function)
    You can record voice data on the Memory Card.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [VOICE].
    2Press the Recording Start/Stop Button.
    ≥Recording starts.
    3Speak into the built-in microphone 1 of 
    this SD Video Camera.
    ≥While recording voice, press the Recording Start/
    Stop Button to stop recording.
    ≥The LCD Monitor will shut off approx. 5 seconds 
    after starting to record. This is not a malfunction 
    but a normal sequence in recording. When voice 
    recording stops, the LCD Monitor turns on again.
    ≥The recorded file is automatically locked (to prevent 
    accidental erasure).
    ≥If the LCD Monitor is operated (open/close/rotate) 
    while recording, the LCD Monitor turns on and will 
    turn off again in approx. 5 seconds.
    ≥If the sound is recorded again after stopping 
    recording, it will be saved as another file.

    Listening to Voice 
    Recordings (Voice Playback)
    Plays back the voice files recorded by the SD Video 
    Camera. 
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [VOICE].
    ≥Voice files recorded on the Memory Card are 
    displayed in the form of a list.
    2Roll the Jog Ball UP or DOWN to select a 
    desired file.
    3Press the Jog Ball.
    ≥A voice file is played back.
    ≥In approx. 5 seconds after playing back, the 
    LCD Monitor will turn off.
    ≥When stopping playback, the file list reverts and 
    the LCD Monitor turns on again.
    ≥Indication A displays for about 3 seconds from a 
    playback start.
    ªOperation during Playback
    ≥The voice can be fast-forwarded or fast-rewound by 
    pressing [9/:] on the remote controller during 
    playback. (No audio is output during fast-forwarding/
    fast-backwarding.) (l30)
    ≥The playback speed becomes normal when you 
    reach the next file.
    ≥If the LCD Monitor is operated (open/close/rotate) 
    while playing, the LCD Monitor turns on and will turn 
    off again in approx. 5 seconds.
    ≥Fast forwarding is 10 times the normal speed for 
    approx. 7 seconds after a start, and 60 times after 
    8 seconds. Stop
    (Reverts to the file list.)Press the Jog Ball

    Listening to Music 
    (Audio Playback)
    This unit is capable of playing MPEG-2 AAC and MP3 
    data files. The supplied program, SD-Jukebox Ver.4 
    (supplied accessory), must be used to load these files 
    onto the SD Memory Card. Files that are simply copied 
    to the SD Memory Card may not playback properly or 
    at all. Please refer to page 42 for additional 
    information.
    1Set the Record/Play mode Switch to [ ] 
    and set the operation mode to [AUDIO].
    ≥Music files recorded on the Memory Card are 
    displayed in the index picture screen.
    2Roll the Jog Ball to select a desired file.
    ≥Music files not having a still picture associated 
    are displayed as shown 1.
    3Press the Jog Ball.
    ≥A music file is played back.
    ≥Indication A displays for about 3 seconds from a 
    playback start.
    ªOperation during playing
    ≥The audio can be fast-forwarded or fast-rewound by 
    pressing [9/:] on the remote controller during 
    playback. (No audio is output during fast-forwarding/
    fast-backwarding.) (l30)
    ≥The playback speed becomes normal when you 
    reach the next file.
    ªTo Repeat Playback
    Set [Repeat] to [1Music] or [All]. 2
    [1Music]: The track being played is repeated.
    [All]:  All the tracks (when a playlist is 
    selected, all the tracks in the playlist)

    ªSelecting a Playlist
    Playlists set using the SD-Jukebox Ver.4 can be 
    played back.
    Select a desired playlist in [Playlist] of the menu.

    ªSelecting a desired Sound Quality
    Music quality can be selected with the supplied 
    Remote Controller. (Use earphones, or the audio 
    cannot be heard.)
    Press the [EQ] button on the Remote Controller.
    ≥Every time the [EQ] Button is pressed, the Sound 
    quality changes as followed.
    No display: Normal tone
    [S-XBS]:  Punchy super bass sound
    [TRAIN]:  Sound friendly to the ears with sound 
    leakage protection
    Adjusting the Volume
    Adjusts the playback audio level for moving picture 
    files, music files, and voice files.
    1Rotate the Zoom/Volume Lever toward [T] 
    or [W].
    ≥The [VOL] indication appears. 2
    ≥If the Zoom/Volume Lever is left unoperated for 
    about 2 seconds, the [VOL] indication will

    Using the Remote Controller/
    Earphones
    1
    Connect the Remote Controller to the 
    [ ] terminal of the SD Video Camera.
    2Plug the Earphone terminal into the 
    connected Remote Controller if 
    necessary. 
    ªOperating the Remote Controller 
    1[sVOLr]: Adjusts the Volume. (Digital zoom 
    operation cannot be performed.)
    2[1/_]/[¥]: Records/Stops recording images or 
    sounds in the [ ] mode. 
    Plays/Stops playing the file in the 
    [ ] mode.
    3[9]: Selects the next file or fast-forwards 
    the files.
    4[:]: Selects the previous file or 
    fast-rewinds the files.
    5[ HOLD]: Locks the button in the Remote 
    Controller.
    6[EQ]: Selects sound quality of the music 
    files. (l29)
    ≥The earphones cannot be attached to the main unit 
    directly.
    ≥If the remote controller is attached, sound will not be 
    output from the speaker. 
    ≥Use only the supplied Remote Controller.
    ≥When the SD Video Camera is turned off, you can 
    turn it on by pressing the [1/∫]/[¥] Button on the 
    remote controller.
    ≥[EQ] is activated only when Music files are played 
    back.
