2 Operating Instructions The following Operating Instruction manuals are included with this machine. Please refer to the appropriate manual and keep all manuals for future reference. If you lose the manual, contact the authorized Panasonic dealer. AccessoriesQuick Reference Guide Describes the basic procedures for each function, and introduces various settings for Copy function. Operating Instructions (For Basic) Describes the overview of this machine. For a detailed explanation of functions, please refer to the Operating Instruction manuals included on two CD-ROMs as illustrated below. Operating Instructions CD Contains manuals with detailed information for Administrator Setup, User Setup, Copy, Facsimile/ Internet Fax, Scan/Email, Print functions, Function Parameters, User Authentication, and Maintenance. Document Management System CD Contains the Panasonic Document Management System Application software, and manuals for the Panasonic Document Management System Application software. Operating Instructions CD Setup Guide For Administrator Describes how to set up the machine. Setup Guide For User Describes how to install the printer driver and application software to client PC. Copy Function Describes how to make a Color Copy with creative features. Facsimile and Internet Fax Function (The Facsimile function is available when the optional G3 Fax Communication Board is installed.) Describes how to send/receive a Facsimile/Internet Fax, and describes the course of action to take when a trouble message appears, etc. Scan and Email Function Describes how to scan and how to send Email through the machine. 6 Chapter 1 Print Operations Chapter 1 Print Operations Printing from PC You can print images or data of application software from PC on which the printer driver is installed. zTo print from PC, the setup of this machine and PC is necessary. For setting up the machine as a network printer, refer to Setting up the Network Configuration in the Operating Instructions (For Administrator Setup) of provided CD-ROM. For installing the printer driver to your PC, refer to Installing the Printer Driver and Application Software in the Operating Instructions (For User Setup) of provided CD-ROM. zThe illustrations shown for the following steps are of WordPad on Windows® XP. The procedures for other applications and Windows operating systems are basically the same, even though the screen displays may differ. 1Select “Print” from the “File” menu. 2Select the desired printer in “Select Printer”. 3Click “Preferences” to configure the print settings if necessary. 4Change the print settings, and then click “OK”. zFor the settings of printer driver, refer to the online help for the printer driver. 8 Chapter 1 Print Operations Printing from SD Memor y Card/USB Flash Memor y/Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox You can print data saved in the SD Memory Card, USB Flash Memory, Internal Hard Disk Drive, or Mailbox using the Control Panel of the machine. There are two ways for selecting data to print. Photo Print Photo images (JPEG files) are displayed as thumbnails in the Thumbnail/Individual and Thumbnail/ Index Print tabs, and can be printed individually or as thumbnail indexes. zOnly JPEG files in EXIF* format ver 2.1 or later for the digital camera are displayed as thumbnails. zSD Logo is a trademark. zSDHC Logo is a trademark. * Short for Exchangeable Image File, a standard format used for storing interchange information in digital photography image files using JPEG compression. (Ex: Dimensions, Date Picture Taken, Camera Model, File Ty p e , S i z e ) . SD Memory Card: For printing pictures taken by a digital camera, etc., (see page 11). Photo Images SD Memory Card Ex: Digital CameraIndividual Print Index Print Selecting thumbnails of files from the Thumbnail/Individual or Thumbnail/Index Print tab Individual Print: Selected files are printed individually. zThe frame size for the Individual Print can be changed. For details, refer to Selecting the Frame Size for Individual Print (see page 36). Index Print: Selected files are printed as thumbnail indexes. zThe layout for the Index Print can be changed. 9 Chapter 1 Print Operations File Print Files other than photo images (JPEG/TIFF/PDF files) are displayed in the File List tab. zOnly one file can be selected at a time in the File List tab. For more details, refer to step 5 of Printing from USB Flash Memory (see page 14). USB Flash Memory: For printing files copied to the USB Flash Memory from PC (see page 14). Internal Hard Disk Drive/Mailbox: For printing files saved in the machine from PC on the network (see pages 16 and 17). PCUSB Flash Memory Internal Hard Disk Drive/ Mailbox
10 Chapter 1 Print Operations Basic Operation Procedure This section describes the workflow of printing data using the Control Panel of the machine. For the detailed description of procedures for each print function, refer to the relevant suggested section. 1Press the Print key if the machine is set to other function mode. 2Select the desired print function. •SD Print: Select when printing data in the SD Memory Card, USB Flash Memory or Internal Hard Disk Drive (see pages 11 to 16). •Mailbox: Select when printing or deleting data saved in Mailbox (see pages 17 to 21). •Job Control: Select when turning the printer on-line or off- line, canceling the current print job, or managing print data in the Output Queue (see pages 22 to 24).zYou can confirm the progress information while printing in the message area of the Touch Panel Display by setting the Function Parameter “27 PC Print Page Display” (Printer Settings > General User Mode) to “On”. For more details, refer to Printer Settings in the Operating Instructions (For Function Parameters) of provided CD-ROM. zAfter finishing printing, press the Reset key to return to the initial screen of the currently active mode.
