31For assistance, please call: 1-800-272-7033 Using the Web Screen Setting Up the ParametersÒ Basic Setup Some carriers or ISPs (Internet Service Providers) require you to enter several network parameters for Internet connection. These parameters should be collected and noted using the following Quick Prep Sheet or by using the steps on pages 20 – 26. To set the parameters to the KX-HGW200, do the following. 1 Click [Basic\Setup]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. See the next page for instructions about each data field. The screen below appears. 2 Enter each parameter in the proper data field. See p. 32 for instructions about each data field. ³To reset the current settings, click [Undo]. 3 When you have finished, click [Save]. The settings will be saved. 4 When prompted, click [Restart\Now!\]on the web screen. Note: When you change the Basic Setup setting, restart the computer(s) in the home network. 32 ÒSetting Up the Parameters Instructions for the data fields Unless the ISP requires you to enter the parameters, leave these data fields blank. When the ISP uses the DHCP server function, basically no settings of the parameters are needed except for the entry of the Device Name. Select the DHCP radio button according to the check mark in the .Memo1(See p. 21, 25 or Quick Prep Sheet). Or, check the information provided from the ISP and enter the ISP specified Device Name in the data field if required. If not required, leave the data field blank. When the ISP requires you to use the PPPoE connection, entry of these data fields is needed. Enter ISP specified User Name and Password. Connection to the ISP is made using this User Name and Password. Enter ISP specified Service Name if required. When a Service Name is not specified by the ISP, leave this data field blank. Enter ISP specified Access Concentrator Name (sometimes specified as “AC Name”) if required. When the name is not specified by the ISP, leave this data field blank. When the ISP requires you to use the static IP connection, enter the ISP specified IP Address and Netmask (Subnet mask) in each data field. Set the parameters recorded in the .Memo2 and .Memo3 (See p. 21, 25 or Quick Prep Sheet). Internet Connection Depending on the ISP, your Internet connection will be one of several types. Check the information provided by the ISP and make sure which type of connection is required. Then, select the appropriate connection type from DHCP, PPPoE or Static on the KX-HGW200 web screen and enter the parameters if required by the ISP. Default Gateway DNS DHCP ³Device Name PPPoE* ³User Name/ Password ³Service Name ³Access Concentrator Name Static ³IP Address ³Netmask ³Gateway ³DNS Server 1/ DNS Server 2 ³Domain NameWhen the ISP requires them, enter the domain name server IP Addresses in these data fields. When the DNS server 2 data field is not specified, leave this data field blank. When the ISP requires it, enter the domain name in this data field. Set the parameters recorded in the .Memo5 (See p. 23, 25 or Quick Prep Sheet). When the ISP requires it, enter the gateway IP Address in this data field. Set the parameter recorded in the .Memo4 (See p. 22, 25 or Quick Prep Sheet). *The parameters for the PPPoE connection have not been collected in the .Memo sections of the previous pages or Quick Prep Sheet. 33For assistance, please call: 1-800-272-7033 Using the Web Screen Ò Additional Setup The Additional Setup screen allows you to set the home network parameters and additional parameters used to access the Internet. To change the home network settings, follow the steps below. 1 Click [Additional\Setup]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. See p. 34 and 35 for instructions about each field. The screen below appears. 2 Enter each parameter in the proper data field. ³To undo the current settings, click [Undo]. 3 When you have finished, click [Save]. The settings will be saved. 4 When prompted, click [Restart\Now!\]on the web screen. 34 ÒSetting Up the Parameters ³IP Address ³NetmaskEnter the local IP address of the KX-HGW200 in this data field. The default parameter is “192.168.0.254”. If you change this IP address, change the gateway address in each computer (p. 53 or 55) and change the proxy server setting of the web browser (p. 47 or 49) in each computer if necessary. The IP address must be set out of the Available Address Range. Enter the netmask of the local IP address of the KX-HGW200 in this data field. The default parameter is “255.255.255.0”. Instructions for the data fields IP Address (Home side) IP Masquerade DHCP Server ³Always connected ³Automatic ³Manual Disconnection on IdleThe PPPoE connection is online as long as the KX-HGW200 is turned on. This is the default setting. The PPPoE connection is online only when data is being sent to the Internet from a computer in the home network. This function allows you to initiate/stop the PPPoE connection on the PPPoE connection screen, as the Manual setting does. For more details, see p. 41. The PPPoE connection is online only when you click [Connect] on the PPPoE connection screen. To stop the PPPoE connection, click [Disconnect]on the PPPoE connection screen. For more details, see p. 41. If enabled, the KX-HGW200 detects when the PPPoE connection is idle and will automatically disconnect it when the length of idle time exceeds the user-specified limit. When you use this function, check “Enabled” and specify the time (1 – 99 minute). When “Always connected” is selected, the timer does not work. ³DHCP Server ³Available Address RangeThis function enables the KX-HGW200 to assign a local IP address automatically to a device in the home network. The default setting of the KX-HGW200 is “Use”. To set up the KX-HGW200 for a static IP network, click “Do Not Use” check box. If you change the DHCP server setting, set the IP address in the each computer. (See p. 52 or 55.) When the DHCP server function of the KX-HGW200 is used, enter the extent of the assigned local IP addresses in this data field, up to 32 addresses. ³IP MasqueradeThis function translates local addresses on the home network into one IP address. The default setting of the KX-HGW200 is “Use”. PPPoE Connection When a PPPoE connection is used to connect to the ISP, you can select how to initiate/stop the PPPoE connection. First, select how to connect from the Connect. If your payment plan with your ISP does not include unlimited Internet access and you are charged, instead, according to your usage, it is recommended that you select “Automatic” or “Manual”. 35For assistance, please call: 1-800-272-7033 Using the Web Screen Port Forwarding The Port Forwarding table allows you to control the access from the Internet to the home network. The Protocol, Forwarding Port and Forwarding IP Address can be specified in the table below. Note: Setting the table may pose a security risk because the unknown packet is sent from the outside of the home network. Please set the table only when you need to. ³Entry ³Protocol ³Forwarding Port ³Forwarding IP AddressSelect “ENABLED” or “DISABLED”. When set to “ENABLED”, the entry works as specified. When set to “DISABLED”, the entry does not work but will work when set to “ENABLED” later. Set the protocol(s) with which you use to send/receive a data from the Internet by selecting from the protocol selector. The TCP, UDP or TCP&UDP are available. Specify the port(s) to receive data from the Internet. ³When a single port is desired, type the port number. ³When a range of port is desired, enter the range using “-”. For example, to specify the ports from 2000 to 3000, enter as “2000-3000”. The starting port number must be lower in value than ending port number. Set the local IP address of a computer in the home network. A data from the Internet is forwarded to the IP address entered in this data field. 36 Using the Functions Ping The Ping function allows you to confirm if a device over the Internet or on the home network is successfully linked to your KX-HGW200 on the TCP/IP network. When a device is connected correctly and the power to the device is on, a “Success!” message appears on the display. 1 Click [Ping]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. The screen below appears. 2 Enter the IP address of the device (Ex. 192.168.0.1) you want to ping. ³To clear the IP address data field, click [Clear]. 3 Click [Ping]. ³If completed, the screen below appears.³If not completed, the screen below appears. ³The IP address might be invalid or some other reasons might be considered. All the parameters of the KX-HGW200 are preserved. 1 Click [Restart]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. The screen below appears. 2 Click [Restart\Now!\]. The KX-HGW200 restarts. Clear Setting The Clear Setting function allows you to initialize all the parameters of the KX-HGW200. All the parameters return to their default settings. 1 Click [Clear\Setting]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. The screen below appears. 2 Click [Clear\Setting\Now\!\]. All the parameters of the KX-HGW200 are initialized to the preset factory default settings. Note: When you use the KX-HGW200 DHCP server function (p. 33), restart the computer(s) in the home network. 38 ÒUsing the Functions Change Password The Change Password function allows you to change the password (p. 27) of the KX-HGW200. 1 Click [Change\Password]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. The screen below appears. 2 Enter a new password into the New passwordtext field (up to 15 digits) and retype the new password in the Retype new password text field for confirmation, then click [Submit]. ³If completed, the screen below appears. ³If not completed, the screen below appears. ³Your new password is different from the retyped one. Try retyping the new password again. Notes: ³Do not use the copy/paste function on your computer when entering information into two password fields. ³The passwords are case-sensitive. If you can not remember the password after changing it, initialize the KX-HGW200 to reset the password to the default setting “KX-HGW”. See “To Initialize the KX-HGW200” on p. 46. 39For assistance, please call: 1-800-272-7033 Using the Web Screen Ò Firmware Upgrade The Firmware Upgrade function allows you to install new KX-HGW200 software. After the software has been updated, all the parameters of the KX-HGW200 are preserved. To update the latest software, follow the steps below. 1 Click [Firmware\Upgrade]on the KX-HGW200 administration web screen. The screen below appears. 2 Click the colored text “here” at the bottom of the web screen. On the web site, follow the instructions and download the firmware to your computer. 3 Click [Browse...]to select the software from the file selector. The Choose file(for Windows) or Open(for Macintosh) dialog box appears. 4 Select the desired software file from the file list and click [Open]. ÒUsing the Functions 5 The selected file name appears in the Filenamefield of the Firmware Upgrade web screen. If you already know the new software file name, you can type it into the filename field directly. 6 Make sure the new software file name is selected and click [Upgrade]. 7 Click [Restart\Now!\]to restart the KX-HGW200. The KX-HGW200 restarts. Error Message ³File size is invalid ³CRC error occurred ³File is not ELF format ³Selected file is invalid ³Not enough memoryCause and Remedy Your selected software file is damaged. If the software file was downloaded from the Panasonic support site, download it again. If the software file was copied from a floppy disk or compact disk, make sure the disk that contains the software is not broken. Your selected software file is not for the KX-HGW200. Reselect the proper file and update it again. Your selected software file is not for the KX-HGW200. Reselect the proper file and update it again. OR Make sure your KX-HGW200 hardware version matches the software file by reading the readme file that comes with the software file. The KX-HGW200’s internal memory has been depleted. Restart the KX-HGW200 and update it again. Error messages ³If not completed, an error message appears. See below “Error messages” for more detailed information. ³If completed, after a few seconds, the screen below appears. Note: When you use the KX-HGW200 DHCP server function (p. 33), restart the computer(s) in the home network.
