English 31 User Controls Hue : Adjusts the color balance of red and green. Press the to increase the amount of green in the image. Press the to increase the amount of red in the image. IRE : Adjusts measurement of composite video signals. Color Space Select an appropriate color matrix type from RGB or YCbCr. Reset Return the adjustments and settings to factory default values. Current : Returns the current menu’s settings to factory default. All : Returns the settings for all menus to factory default values. “IRE” only support under NTSC signal. NoteNote
32 User Controls Menu Location Choose the menu location on the display screen. Projection Front-Desktop The factory default setting. Rear-Desktop When you select this function, the projector reverses the image so you can project behind a translucent screen. Front-Ceiling When you select this function, the projector turns the image upside down for ceiling-mounted projection. Rear-Ceiling When you select this function, the projector reverses and turns the image upside down at same time. You can project from be- hind a translucent screen with ceiling mounted projection. Image AI Image AI improves the contrast of the picture by optimizing the brightness of the lamp according to the picture content. English 33 User Controls with the most dark details revealed, vivid and bright image performed all the way. Off: The dynamic image performance manager is on standby. IRIS The iris function adjusts the contrast optically by opening and closing the lens aperture. The iris can be switched between Off (Close) and On (Open). When you press the IRIS button, the current setting appears. When pressing it again while the setting is being displayed, the setting can be changed. It takes about 6 seconds for the iris to shift between Off (0) state and On (1-16) state. 1-16: When 1-16 steps is selected, black levels of the image are reproduced with more clarity though the brightness is lowered. There are 16 step for you adjust. 0: When 0 is selected, the image becomes brighter. Test Pattern Displays a test pattern. There are Grid, White pattern and None. Background Use this feature to display a “Dark Blue”, “Black”, “Gray”or “Start Logo” screen when no signal is available.
34 User Controls 12V Trigger STD: When “STD” is selected, 12V Trigger will send 12V when projector turn on. LBX: When 12V trigger set as “LBX” -- 1. Format change to “LBX”,12V trigger port will send 12V. 2. Format is “4:3”, “16:9”, or “Native”, 12V trigger port won’t send 12V, it will be 0V.
English 35 User Controls Lamp Hour Displays the cumulative lamp operating time. Lamp Reminder Choose this function to show or to hide the warning message when the changing lamp message is displayed. The message will appear up 30 hours before suggested replacement of lamp. Brite Mode Choose “On” to increase the brightness. Choose “Off” to return normal mode. 36 Appendices Image Problems No image appears on-screen Ensure all the cables and power connections are correctly and securely connected as described in the “Installation” section. Ensure the pins of connectors are not crooked or broken. Check if the projection lamp has been securely installed. Please refer to the “Replacing the lamp” section. Make sure you have removed the lens cap and the projector is switched on. Partial, scrolling or incorrectly displayed image Press “Re-Sync” on the control panel. If you are using a PC: For Windows 95, 98, 2000, XP: 1. From the “My Computer” icon, open the “Control Panel” folder, and double click the “Display” icon. 2. Select the “Settings” tab. 3. Verify that your display resolution setting is lower than UXGA (1600 x 1200). (*) 4. Click on the “Advanced Properties” button. If the projector is still not projecting the whole image, you will also need to change the monitor display you are using. Refer to the following steps. 5. Verify the resolution setting is lower than or equal to UXGA (1600 x 1200) resolution. (*) Troubleshooting If you experience a problem with your projector, please refer to the following information. If a problem persists, please contact your local reseller or service center. Click on “Show all devices.” Next, select “Standard monitor types” under the SP box; choose the resolution mode you need under the “Models” box. 8. Verify that the resolution setting of the monitor display is lower than or equal to UXGA (1600 x 1200). (*) If you are using a Notebook: 1. First, follow the steps above to adjust resolution of the comput- er. 2. Press the toggle output settings. Example: [Fn]+[F4] If you experience difficulty changing resolutions or your monitor freezes, restart all equipment including the projector. The screen of the Notebook or PowerBook computer is not displaying your presentation If you are using a Notebook PC: Some Notebook PCs may deactivate their own screens when a second display device is in use. Each has a different way to be reac- tivated. Refer to your computer’s manual for detailed information. Unstable or flickering image Use “Tracking” to correct it. See page 30 for more information. Change the monitor color setting on your computer. Image has vertical flickering bar Use “Phase” to make an adjustment. See page 30 for more informa- tion. 38 Appendices Image is out of focus Make sure the Lens cap is removed. Adjusts the Focus Ring on the projector lens. Make sure the projection screen is between the required dis- tance 4.9 to 39.4 feet (1.5 to 12.0 meters) from the projector. See page 16. The image is stretched when displaying 16:9 DVD title When you play anamorphic DVD or 16:9 DVD, the projector will show the best image in 16: 9 format on projector side. If you play the LBX format DVD title, please change the format as LBX in projector OSD. If you play 4:3 format DVD title, please change the format as 4:3 in projector OSD. If the image is still stretched, you will also need to adjust the aspect ratio by referring to the following: Please setup the display format as 16:9 (wide) aspect ratio type on your DVD player. Image is too small or too large Adjust the zoom lever on the top of the projector. Move the projector closer to or further from the screen. Press [ 4:3], [ 16:9], [ Letter-Box], [ Native] button on the remote control or [Menu] on the projector panel, go to “Display-->Format”. Try the different settings. Image has slanted sides: If possible, reposition the projector so that it is centered on the screen and below the bottom of the screen. Use “Display-->V.Keystone” from the OSD to make an adjust- ment. Image is reversed Select “System-->Projection” from the OSD and adjust the pro- jection direction. Intermission Problems The projector stops responding to all controls If possible, turn off the projector, then unplug the power cord and wait at least 20 seconds before reconnecting power.
English 39 Appendices Lamp burns out or makes a popping sound When the lamp reaches its end of life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn on until the lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures in the “Replacing the Lamp” section on page 41. 40 Appendices Over temperature: Replacing the lamp: Remote Control Problems If the remote control does not work Check the operating angle for the remote control is approximately ±22.5°. Make sure there are not any obstructions between the remote con- trol and the projector. Move to within 6 m (20 ft) of the projector. Make sure batteries are inserted correctly. Make sure batteries are exhausted. If so, replace weak batteries in the remote control.
