“Vignetting” is a drop in brightness at the edges of a 
photograph.
 Vignette control  reduces vignetting for type G, E, 
and D lenses (PC lenses excluded).
 Its effects vary from lens to 
lens and are most noticeable at maximum aperture.

angle lenses and to reduce pin-cushion distortion when

in the viewfinder may be cropped out of the final photograph, 
and that the time needed to process photographs before

shutter speeds slower than 1 s will be 
processed to reduce noise (bright spots, 
randomly-spaced bright pixels, or fog).
 
The time required for processing 
roughly doubles; during processing, 
“ lm ” will flash in the shutter 
speed/aperture displays and pictures 
can not be taken (if the camera is turned off before processing is 
complete, the picture will be saved but noise reduction will not

Custom Settings are stored in one of four banks. Changes to 
settings in one bank have no effect on the others.
 To  s t o r e  a  
particular combination of frequent ly-used settings, select one of 
the four banks and set the camera to these settings.
 The new 
settings will be stored in the bank even when the camera is 
turned off, and will be restored the next time the bank is 
selected.
 Different combinations of settings can be stored in the 
other banks, allowing the user to switch instantly...

have been modified from default valu es, an asterisk will be displayed 
adjacent to the altered settings in  the second level of the Custom 
Settings menu.

When AF-C is selected for viewfinder photography ( 087), this 
option controls whether photographs can be taken whenever 
the shutter-release button is pressed ( release priority) or only 
when the camera is in focus ( focus priority).
Regardless of the option selected, focus will not lock when  AF-C is 
selected for autofocus mode.
 The camera will continue to adjust 
focus until the shutter is released.
