Select On to reduce “noise” (bright spots or fog) in photographs
taken at shutter speeds slower than 1 s. The time required to
record images increases by roughly 1.5 to 2 times. During pro-
cessing, a warning will be displayed and pictures can not be

Adjust movie sound recording settings for the built-in micro-
phone.
❚❚Microphone
Select  Microphone off  to disable sound recording. Selecting
any other option enables recording and sets the microphone to
the selected sensitivity.
❚❚ Wind Noise Reduction
Select  On to enable the low-cut filter, reducing noise produced
by wind blowing over the microphone (note that other sounds

Take photographs automatically at preset intervals.
1Choose the interval.
Highlight Interval and press  2 to
view the interval. Press  4 or  2 to
highlight minutes or seconds and
press  1 or 3  to choose an interval
longer than the slowest anticipated

Select  On to enable electronic vibration reduction in Motion
Snapshot mode ( 088), when using the movie-record button,
and when  HD movie is selected in advanced movie mode

AGetting Good Results with Autofocus
Autofocus does not perform well under the conditions listed below.
The shutter release may be disabled if the camera is unable to focus
under these conditions, or the focus area may be displayed in green
and the camera may sound a beep, allowing the shutter to be released
even when the subject is not in focus. In these cases, focus manually
( 0 186) or use focus lock ( 0189) to focus on another subject at the
same distance, and then recompose the photograph....

Manual Focus
Manual focus can be used when autofocus does not produce the
desired results.
1Select manual focus.
2Display the manual focus guides.
3Choose a magnification. Highlight Manual focus  in the focus
mode menu ( 0184) and press  2.
In the shooting display, press  J to dis-
play manual focus guides and magnify
the view at the center of the frame.
This feature is not available during
movie recording or in 4K, slow-
motion, or time-lapse movie mode.

Rotate the multi selector until the sub-
ject is in focus. Rotate the multi selec-
tor clockwise to increase the focus
distance, counterclockwise to
decrease; the faster you rotate the
multi selector, the quicker the focus
distance changes. The focus indicator
