    Advanced Voice Mail Features
    Message ForwardingNote:You can only forward messages to Nextel
    customers in your home market.
    This feature allows you to program your phone to
    automatically forward incoming messages to
    another mailbox. There are two types of forwarding:
    notified and silent. Notified forwarding prompts the
    caller that the message will be forwarded. Silent
    forwarding does not prompt the caller that the
    message will be forwarded.
    To modify forwarding options:
    1From the main voice mail menu, press4to
    access personal options.
    2Press5to modify forwarding options.
    3Select the applicable option below:
    To create a forwarding number, press2.
    If you have already created a forwarding
    number, press2to modify the number.
    To enable or disable message forwarding,
    press3.
    To change the forwarding type, press2.
    4Press**to return to the main menu.

    MessagesTo access your voice mail messages, text and
    numeric messages, Net alerts, and any other types
    of messages you are able to receive, go to the
    message center:
    1From the main menu, selectMessages.
    2Select the type of message you want to access.
    The message center shows how many messages
    you have of each type. You can listen to, read, or
    delete these messages.
    Note:In order for you to access voice mail
    through the message center, there must
    already be a message in your voice mail
    box. If there is no message, you must
    access voice mail by dialing into your voice
    mail box using your PTN.Message NotificationsWhen you receive a message, your phone notifies
    youwithtextonthedisplayandanotificationtoneor
    vibration. You can access the message or dismiss
    the notification.
    If you dismiss the notification, the message is not
    deleted. It can be accessed through the message
    center.If you are not on a phone call when you receive a
    message, your phone sounds a notification tone
    every 30 seconds until you access the message or
    dismiss the alert.
    If you are on a call when you receive a message,
    your phone may sound a notification tone during the
    call or after you end the call, depending on how you
    set your notification options.
    Setting Notification OptionsTo control whether your phone sounds message
    notification tones while you are on phone calls:
    1From the main menu, selectSettings > Phone
    Calls > Notifications.
    2Select the option you want:
     Receive All— Tones sound during calls for all
    types of messages.
     Msg Mail Only— Tones sound during calls for
    mail messages; tones for all other types of
    messages are held until you end calls.
    DelayAll— Tones for all types of messages
    are held until you end calls.
    Note: Delay Allis the default setting.
    Ti p:To set notification options during a call: Press
    m. SelectIn Call Setup > Notifications.

    To dismiss the message notification:
    If the flip is closed, press..-or-

    Sending Unanswered Calls to Voice
    MailTo send a phone call to voice mail instead of
    answering it:
    If the flip is closed, press..-or-
    Presse.-or-
    PressAunderNo.
    If the caller leaves a message, this icon
    y
    appears
    on the display, reminding you that you have a new
    message.
    Text and Numeric MessagesThe phone’s display refers to text and numeric
    messages as Text Messages.
    These messages can be up to 160 letters long. You
    can store up to 20 of these messages. Each
    message is stamped with the date and time it was
    left.
    If your phone is powered off when you receive a
    message, your phone notifies you the next time you
    power it on. If you are out of your coverage area,
    your phone alerts you when you return to your
    coverage area.
    Your phone attempts to deliver these messages
    forupto7days.
    Tip:While reading a text and numeric message
    that contains a phone number, you can press
    sto call that number.Receiving a MessageWhen you receive a text and numeric message, this

    To view the message:
    1PressAunderRead.
    2If the message fills more than one screen, scroll
    to read it.

    Net Alerts
    3To keep the message, pressO.-or-
    To delete the message, scroll to the end of the
    message, then pressAunderDelete.
    To dismiss the message notification:

    Reading from the Message Center1From the main menu, selectMessages > Text
    Msgs.

    to read it.
    4To keep the message, pressO.-or-
    To delete the message, scroll to the end of the
    message, then pressAunderDelete.Net AlertsNet alerts are notifications that you have a text and
    numeric messages sent from:
    Ani730 phonewww.nextel.com
    Any email application
    Note:Your phones SMS address is your
    [email protected]. Your phones
    Two-Way Messaging address is your
    [email protected].
    When you receive a Net alert, a notification appears
    on the display.
    If you dismiss the notification, this icon

    on the display, reminding you that you have a new
    message.
    When you delete a Net alert, the message is not
    deleted, but it is no longer accessible through the
    message center. You can still access the message
    through Nextel Online services.

    Call ForwardingCall forwarding sends calls to the phone numbers
    you specify. You can forward all calls to one number
    or forward missed calls to different numbers
    depending on the reason you missed the call.
    You can forward phone lines 1 and 2 independently.Forwarding All CallsWhen you set your phone to forward all calls, an
    icon appears in the top row of the display:To forward all calls:
    1From the main menu, selectCall Forward >
    Forward > All Calls.
    2SelectTo.
    If you specified a forwarding number for all calls
    before, this number displays.
    To forward calls to this number, press and holdA
    underBack.
    To delete this number, pressO,thenpressA
    underDelete.
    3To enter the number you want to forward calls to:
    Enter the number using your keypad.-or-
    PressAunderSearch.SelectContacts,Recent
    Calls,orMemo. Select the number you want to
    enter.
    4PressO.
    All your calls are now forwarded to the number you
    specified.
    Turning Off Call ForwardingIf you don’t want all your calls forwarded, turn the
    feature off:
    1From the main menu, selectCall Forward > To.
    2Set this option toOff.

    Phone line 1 is active; calls to phone line 1 are
    being forwarded.
    I
    Phone line 1 is active; calls to phone line 2 are
    being forwarded.
    H
    Phone line 1 is active; calls to phone lines 1
    and 2 are being forwarded.
    J
    Phone line 2 is active; calls to phone line 1 are
    being forwarded.
    L
    Phone line 2 is active; calls to phone line 2 are
    being forwarded.
    K
    Phone line 2 is active; calls to phone lines 1

    							58Call Forwarding
    All your calls are now sent to your phone.
    Calls you miss are forwarded according to the
    options set for missed calls. By default, missed calls
    are forwarded to voice mail.Forwarding Missed CallsYou can specify a forwarding number for each type
    of missed call:
    IfBusy— Your phone is on a call or transferring
    data.
    IfNoAnswer— You do not answer on the first 4
    rings.
     If Unreachable— Your phone is out of coverage
    or powered off.
    Note:If you want a type of missed call sent to
    voice mail, the call forwarding number for
    that type of missed call must be your voice
    mail access number. Your voice mail
    access number is your area code + first 3
    digits of your PTN + MAIL (6245).
    Toforwardmissedcalls:
    1From the main menu, selectCall Forward >
    Forward > Detailed.
    2SelectIf Busyto specify a forwarding number for
    calls received when your phone is busy.3If you specified a forwarding number for this type
    of call before, this number displays.
    To forward calls to this number, pressAunder
    Backand go to step 6.-or-
    To delete this number, pressO, then press and
    holdAunderDelete.
    4To enter the number you want to forward this type
    of call to:
    Enter the number using your keypad.-or-
    PressAunderSearch.SelectContacts,Recent
    Calls,orMemo. Select the number you want to
    enter.
    5PressO.
    6Repeat step 2 through step 5 forIf No Answer
    andIf Unreachable.
    7When you are finished, pressAunderBack.
    Viewing Call Forwarding
    Settings1From the main menu, selectCall Forward >
    Forward > All Calls.

    Java ApplicationsYour phone arrives with Java applications installed
    and ready to run. You can download and install
    more Java applications.
    To download and install more Java applications, go
    to www.nextel.com/idenupdate. You can also check
    theDownloadsmenu option on your phone for a
    catalog of additional items available for purchase
    and download.
    Note:Using Java applications may cause your
    phone to use up more battery power than
    other uses of your phone.Running ApplicationsTorunanapplicationthathasashortcutonthemain
    menu:
    1From the main menu, select the application or
    suite of applications you want to run.
    2If you have selected a suite of applications, select
    the application you want to run.
    To run an application that does not have a shortcut
    on the main menu:
    1From the main menu, selectJava Apps.
    2Select the application or suite of applications you
    want to run.3If you have selected a suite of applications, select
    the application you want to run.
    Ti p:If you don’t hear the sounds associated with
    the Java application, selectSettings >
    Vo l u m eand check the volumes ofJava
    SpeakerandJava Earpiece.
    Suspending ApplicationsWhen you suspend an application, it does not stop
    running. It goes to the background so that you can
    run another application in the foreground.
    To suspend an application:
    Presseor close the flip.
    To view your suspended applications:
    From the Java menu, selectSuspended Apps.
    You can have up to 3 applications running at one
    time — 1 running in the foreground and 2 in the
    background.Resuming ApplicationsYou can resume a suspended application at any
    time. This brings it to the foreground.
    1From the Java menu, selectSuspended Apps.
    2Select the application you want to resume. 
    						
    							60Java ApplicationsEnding ApplicationsTo end an application:
    1From the main menu, selectJava Apps.
    2If the application you want to end is part of a suite
    of applications, select the suite.
    3Scroll to the application you want to end.
    4PressAunderEnd.
    To end all applications:
    1From the main menu, selectJava Apps.
    2Scroll toSuspended Apps.
    3Pressm.
    4SelectEnd All.
    5If you want to end all applications without letting
    them exit, pressAunderEndNow.
    Tip:You can also end applications from the
    Suspended Appsscreen.Downloading ApplicationsIf you want to run more Java applications, you can
    download them into your phone. Go to
    www.nextel.com/idenupdate for a selection of Java
    applications and downloading instructions.
    Installing ApplicationsBefore running most applications you have
    downloaded, you must install them.
    1From the main menu, selectJava Apps.
    2Select the application or suite of applications you
    want to install.
    Installation messages appear as the application
    installs.
    3If you want to create a shortcut to the Java
    application on the main menu: PressAunder
    Next.PressAunderYes.-or-
    Ifyoudonotwanttocreateashortcut,pressA
    underDone.
    4PressO.
    5PressAunderDone.Deleting ApplicationsTo delete an application:
    1From the main menu, selectJava Apps.
    2Scroll to the application you want to delete.
    3Pressm.
