    Special Dialing Codes
    To change the TTY baud rate:
    1From the main menu, selectSettings > Phone
    Calls > TTY > Baud.

    Special Dialing CodesNon-Emergency NumbersNextel supports many “non-emergency” numbers
    (such as #77, 311,...) provided by local and state
    governments. These numbers are used to report
    non-emergency incidents. If the situation includes
    imminent danger or loss of life, you should dial 911.Telecommunications Relay ServiceNextel supports services for communicating with
    speech and/or hearing impaired individuals. You can
    dial 711 to reach a local Telecommunications Relay
    Center. You will then be connected to your
    destination number. Relay service works through a
    Communications Assistant who reads messages
    typedintoaTDD/TTYdevicebyaspeechorhearing
    impaired individual to you. The Communications
    Assistant then types your spoken messages to the
    hearing or speech impaired individual.
    Telecommunications Relay Service is available 24
    hours a day, seven days a week, and every call is
    strictly confidential.Note:Using 711 to reach Telecommunications
    Relay Service may not be available in all
    areas.

    services or for additional information:
    Note:Some services are not available outside of
    the continental United States.Caller IDYour phone automatically displays the phone
    number or name (if the 10-digit phone number is
    stored in your Contacts) of the person calling
    (unless blocked by the caller), enabling you to
    decide whether to take the call or forward it to voice
    mail.
    Caller ID information is not available on all calls.Per-Call BlockingYou can block delivery of your phone number to
    other Caller ID units for a single phone call:
    Press*67before dialing the call.
    Your Nextel phone number cannot be blocked from
    calls made to 911, 800, 855, 866, 877, 888, or other

    							92Advanced Calling FeaturesPer-Line BlockingYou can permanently block delivery of your phone
    number on every call you make.
    To disable on a per-call basis:
    Press*82before dialing the call.Alternate Line ServiceYou can have two different phone numbers on the
    same handset. With Alternate Line Service, you can:
    Set up different billing addresses for each phone
    line.
    Use different ringer styles so that you can tell
    which line is receiving the call.
    Forward incoming calls to the primary and
    alternate line to different phone numbers.
    To set the active line:
    1From the main menu, selectSettings > Phone
    Calls > Set Line.
    2Select the phone line you want to be the active
    line.
    When calls made to the line that is not active are set
    to be forwarded to the active line, these calls are
    sent to voice mail without ringing. See “Call
    Forwarding” on page 57.
    Call RestrictionsYou can prevent your phone from making or
    receiving long distance, incoming, and outgoing

    You can call Nextel 411 within the continental United
    States and Hawaii. Services include white and
    yellow page listings, driving directions, restaurant
    reservations, movie listings and showtimes, and

    DatebookDatebook stores up to 250 events. You can store
    events over a 13 month period — 12 months after
    and 1 month before the current date.
    A Datebook event contains:
    A subject — A name you assign to the event. You
    can also enter a phone number, Direct Connect
    number, or Talkgroup number here. After the
    event is stored, you can call this number from
    Datebook or when you get a reminder of this
    event.
    A location — The location of the event. You can
    also enter a phone number, Direct Connect
    number, or Talkgroup number here. After the
    event is stored, you can call this number from
    Datebook or when you get a reminder of this
    event.
    A start time — The start time automatically
    assigned to an event is the beginning of the day.
    You can change the start time, or assign no start
    time, before storing the event.
    A duration — the length of time the event lasts
    A date — The date automatically assigned to an
    event is the date that was highlighted or selected
    when you began creating the event. You can
    change this date before storing the event.A repeat — lets you store the event as a recurring
    event
    A reminder — If an event has a start time, you
    can set Datebook to remind you that the event is
    goingtostart.

    Only the subject and date are required.
    Viewing DatebookTo access Datebook:
    From the main menu, selectDatebook.
    You can view Datebook by the day, by the week, or
    by the month. You can also view the details of any
    event.
    In day view, brief information about each event for
    that day appears.
    In week view, events appear as markers
    corresponding to their times.
    In month view, days with events appear with a
    marker in the corner.

    1Select the day the event occurs.
    2Select the event.
    To change the current view:
    1While viewing Datebook, pressm.
    2Select the view you want.
    Note:Day view is the default setting.Navigating DatebookTo scroll through Datebook:
    Scroll left and right using the navigation key.-or-
    In week view and month view, press*or#.
    Toseemoreindayview:
    Scroll up and down using the navigation key.
    To highlight a day in month view:
    Enter the date using the keypad.
    To go to today’s date:
    1While viewing Datebook, pressm.

    2SelectGo To Date.3Select the date you want.
    Creating EventsEvery Datebook event must have a subject and be
    stored to a date. Other information is optional.
    You may enter the information in any order by
    scrolling through the event details.
    After you have entered the information you want,
    you can pressAunderDoneto store the event to
    Datebook.
    If you decide you don’t want to store the event:
    PressAunderCancel.
    To create a Datebook event:
    1While viewing datebook, pressAunderNew.-or-
    In day view, select[New Event].
    2To assign a subject to the event:
    SelectSubject.
    Enter the name. See “Entering Text” on page 33.

    PressAunderBrowseto choose from common

    you can call this number.
    When you are finished, pressO.

    Select the repeat cycle you want.
    If the event occurs more than once a week: Select
    Multiple Day. Select the days you want.
    PressAunderDone.
    Select the date you want this event to stop
    recurring.
    8If you want to create reminder for this event.
    SelectReminder.
    Select the reminder time you want.-or-
    SelectCustomto enter a reminder time.
    Note:If an event has no start time, you can not
    create a reminder for it.
    9If you have entered all the information you want
    for this event, pressAunderDone.-or-

    1If you have created a reminder for the event and
    want to set the ring tone for that reminder:

    Select the ring tone you want from the ring tones
    stored in your phone.

    switched to while the event is occurring:
    SelectProfile.
    Select the profile you want from the profiles
    stored in your phone.
    Your phone switches to this profile when the
    event starts and switches back to the previous
    profile when the event ends.
    3IfyouwanttoassignaJavaapplicationtostart
    when the event starts:
    SelectApp.
    Select the application you want from the Java
    applications stored in your phone.If you created a reminder for this event, your
    phonepromptsyoutostarttheJavaapplication
    when you get the reminder.
    Editing EventsTo change the details of an event:
    1Select the day the event occurs.
    2Select the event.
    3PressAunderEdit.
    4Follow the applicable instructions in “Creating
    Events” on page 94 to edit the various fields.
    To copy an event to another date:
    1Select the day the event occurs.
    2Select the event.
    3Pressm.
    4SelectCopy.
    5PressAunderYe sto confirm.
    6Enter the date you want.
    7PressO.
    8If you want to change more information, follow the
    applicable instructions in “Creating Events” on
    page 94 to edit the various fields.

    Deleting Events
    Deleting Events1Select the day the event occurs.
    2Select the event.

    5If the event is not a recurring event, pressOor

    If the event is a recurring event:
    SelectThis Event Onlyto delete only the event
    selected in step 2.
    SelectRepeat Eventto delete all occurrences of
    the event.Receiving RemindersIf you created a reminder for a Datebook event,
    when the reminder time occurs, your phone notifies
    you with text on the display and a reminder tone.
    To view more details about the event:
    Open the flip.-or-
    PressAunderView.To dismiss the reminder:
    Iftheflipisclosed,press..-or-
    If the flip is open, pressO,pressAunder
    Dismiss,or close the flip.
    Ti p:You can set your phone to power on when
    you receive a reminder. See “Customizing
    Datebook Setup” on page 98.
    For Events with Java ApplicationsIf you assigned a Java application to start when the
    event starts, you can start the application when you
    get the reminder.
    1Pressm.
    2SelectLaunch.For Events with Numbers to CallIf you stored a phone number, Direct Connect
    number, or Talkgroup number in theSubjector
    Locationfield of a Datebook event, you can call or
    send a call alert to that number from the reminder for
    that event.

    number, or Talkgroup number in theSubjector
    Locationfield of a Datebook event, you can call or
    send a call alert to that number from Datebook.
    You can call the number stored inSubjectand the
    number stored inLocationif one is a phone number
    and the other is a Direct Connect number or
    Talkgroup number. If both are the same type of
    number, the number inSubjectis called or sent a
    call alert. To call or send a call alert to the number
    stored inLocation, you must delete the number
    stored inSubject.
    To make a call or send a call alert:
    1Highlight or select the event containing the
    number you want to call or send a call alert to.
    2To make a phone call:
    Presss.-or-
    Pressm. SelectCall # in Event.
    To make a Direct Connect call or Group Connect
    call:
    Press and hold the PTT button on the side of your
    phone.-or-
    If you did not include a#before the Talkgroup
    youwanttocall:Pressm. SelectTalkgroup.To send a call alert:
    Pressm. SelectAlert # in Event.
    Customizing Datebook SetupTo access Datebook set up options:
    1From the main menu, selectDatebook.
    2Pressm.
    3SelectSetup.
    You can view or change these options:
    StartView— sets Datebook to start in day view,
    week view, or month view when you access
    Datebook.
     Daily Begin— sets the beginning of your day.
    Thisistheearliesttimeofdaydisplayedinweek
    view, if you have a 12-hour day view.
    Reminders— If this option is set toOnly When
    On, your phone reminds you of events only when
    it is on. If this option is set toAlways, your phone
    powers itself on when you receive reminders. To
    avoid draining the battery, your phone then
    powers itself off after a short time.
     Delete After— sets the amount of time Datebook
    waitstodeleteaneventafterisoccurs.

    Customizing Datebook Setup
    TimeShift— lets you shift the times of all
    Datebook events. This is useful if you are
    traveling to a different time zone.
     Alert Timeout— sets the amount of time a tone
    continues to sound when you receive a message
    notification, call alert, or Datebook reminder.
    Clock— controls whether the time and date
    appear on the idle screen; sets time and date
    format; sets year.
