    Adding New Events
    Adding New Events
    Using the following instructions, you will enter the information in the order the
    items appear on theEvent Formscreen. However, you can enter this
    information in any order by pressingSto scroll through the items on theEvent
    Formscreen. You can leave any item blank (except title and date) or unchanged
    by pressingSto scroll past it on theEvent Formscreen. Only a title and a date
    are required for a valid event.
    To cancel a Datebook event entry at any time, presseto return to the idle
    screen.
    To add a Datebook event:
    1Access theEvent Formscreen:
    While viewing a week in the Datebook,
    pressmto access theDatebook Menu.
    PressRto scroll toNew.PressBunder
    SELECT.
    Or,
    While viewing a day, pressSto scroll to
    [New Event].PressAunder SELECT.
    TheEvent Formscreen displays with theTitlefield highlighted.
    2With theTitlefield highlighted, pressBunder CHANGE to access
    theTitlescreen.

    3Assignatitletotheevent:
    PressBunder BROWSE to choose from a list of commonly used
    event titles. PressSto scroll to the title you want and pressBunder
    SELECT.
    Or,
    Type the title using the alphanumeric keypad. See“Using T9
    ®Te x t
    Input”on page 26 for information about entering text into this field.
    You can also enter a description of the appointment or any other text.
    When you are finished, pressBunder OK.
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theSta r tfield highlighted.
    4If you want to assign a time of day for the event to start:
    With theSta r tfield highlighted, pressBunder CHANGE.
    From theStartscreen, enter the time the event will begin.
    Type in the start time, or pressSto scroll through the hours, minutes,
    and am, pm, or 24 hour clock. PressTor pressBunderGto move
    through the fields.
    PressAunder DONE.
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theDurationfield highlighted.
    5After you have assigned a start time to the event, you can specify the
    duration of the event. The default duration is one hour. To assign a
    different duration:
    With theDurationfield highlighted, pressBunder CHANGE.
    From theDurationscreen, pressRto scroll to the desired duration. If
    you selectNone, the event will have a duration of zero minutes.
    PressBunder SELECT.
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theStartDatefield highlighted.

    6The default date assigned to an event is the day that was highlighted
    when you accessed theEvent Formscreen to add the event. To assign a
    different date:
    With theStartDatefield highlighted, pressBunder CHANGE.
    From theStartDatescreen, enter the date of the event:
    Type in the date, or pressSto scroll through the months, days, and
    years. PressTor pressBunderGto move through the fields.
    PressAunder DONE.
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theRepeatfield highlighted.
    7If you want the event to recur in your Datebook, assign a repeat cycle to
    it:
    With theRepeatfield highlighted, pressBunder CHANGE.
    From theRepeatscreen, pressSto scroll to the desired repeat cycle.
    PressBunder SELECT.
    (If your appointment occurs on more than one day a week, scroll to
    Multiple Daysand select as many days as apply. Then pressBunder
    DONE.)
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theRepeatEndfield highlighted.
    NOTE: When Repeat is set to none or yearly, it will not be possible
    to access the RepeatEnd field.
    PressBunder CHANGE and enter the date on which you want to
    event to stop repeating. When you have finished, pressAunder
    DONE.
    TheEvent Formscreen returns with theAlarmfield highlighted.

    8If you want to set an alarm to remind you
    that the event is approaching:
    With theAlarmfield highlighted, press
    Bunder CHANGE.
    From theAlarmscreen, pressSto scroll
    to the desired alarm option (5 min before,
    1 hour before, etc.).
    If you choose the1daybeforeoption, the
    alarm will remind to you at your daily
    begin time (see“Customizing Datebook Set Up”on page 136) the day
    before the event, rather than 24 hours before the event. If you choose
    the1 week beforeoption, the alarm will remind to at your daily begin
    time a week before the event.
    PressBunder SELECT.
    9When you have entered all the desired
    information about the event, pressA
    under DONE.

    1If you are viewing the event:
    PressBunder EDIT.
    Or,
    If you are viewing the day containing the event:
    PressSto scroll to the event you want to edit. Pressmto display the
    Datebook Menu.PressRto scroll toEditandthenpressBunder
    SELECT.
    2Follow the applicable instructions in“Adding New Events”on page
    131, to edit the various fields.
    1View the day containing the event and pressSto scroll to the event
    you want to delete.
    Or,
    View the details of the event you want to delete.
    2Pressm.TheDatebook Menudisplays.
    3PressRto scroll toDeleteand pressBunder SELECT.
    4If the event is a recurring event, theDelete Eventscreen appears:
    To delete only the occurrence of the event you select in step 1,
    leaveThis Event Onlyhighlighted.
    To delete all occurrences of the event, pressRto highlight
    Repeat Events.

    Datebook Event Reminders
    If you have set an alarm to remind you that a Datebook event is approaching,
    your phone sounds an audible alarm and displays a reminder.
    NOTE: You must have the Time and Date display turned on to receive
    event reminders. This is the default setting.
    When a Datebook event reminder appears on the screen:
    Customizing Datebook Set Up
    Datebook allows you to customize some of its set up features:
    DailyBegin—sets the beginning time of the 12-hour day your Datebook
    displays when you are viewing a week. The default is 7:00 am.
    Reminder—controls the behavior of alarms you have set in Datebook:
    Active Onlysets Datebook to ignore alarms that occur when your
    phone is powered off. This is the default setting.
    Delayed If Offsets Datebook to delay alarms that occur when your
    phone is powered off until your phone is next powered on.
    Weekday—sets the first day of the week your Datebook displays when
    you are viewing a week. The default is Sunday.
    DeleteAfter—controls how long your Datebook waits to delete an event
    after it has occurred. The default is four weeks.PressAunder VIEW to view more
    information about the Datebook event.
    Or,
    PressAunder EXIT to dismiss the event
    reminder.

    To customize your Datebook set up:
    1While viewing a week in the Datebook, pressmto access the
    Datebook Menu.
    2PressSto scroll toSetupand then pressBunder SELECT.
    3PressRto scroll to any of the set-up features.
