4 Congratulations on your purchase of the Lyman 1200 DPS (Digital Powder System). This is a precision piece of equipment and should be handled with care. Before using the 1200 DPS Powder Dispenser, please read these instructions fully and become familiar with the key pads and other operating features listed in the diagrams. If you have read the instructions and you still do not understand some of the operations, call us at 1-800-22-LYMAN except AK, HI, CT and foreign, who may call 860-632-2020. This operation manual should be kept with the 1200 DPS at all times for easy reference. Introduction Your New 1200 DPS (digital powder system) is the state of the art in reloading technology. It is the fastest powder dispenser available and contains a programmable memory to store and recall all of your favorite loads quickly and easily. A. Set-Up 1. Select a location for the 1200 DPS that is level and stable. It is recommended that the 1200 DPS be located away from a loading bench equipped with a reloading press. Most benches are not heavy enough to prevent vibrations being transferred to the scale. The scale should also be away from any source of air currents. The 1200 DPS is sensitive enough to have readings affected by any of these co nd it io ns. 2. Plug the power adapter into a wall outlet and connect it to the dispenser. Install the powder reservoir tube by pressing it into the top of the unit above the feed tube. 3. Remove end cap from powder feed tube. B. Warm-Up and ON/OFF 1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the 1200 DPS.
52. The 1200 DPS is equipped with an automatic 30-minute warm-up feature. This feature allows the precise electronics time to stabilize. The LCD display will alternate between warm-up and a count down clock. In the warm-up mode, the scale, powder dispenser and calibration features will be blocked, however, the user can st ill enter settings into the memory as well as recall and edit exist ing memory. We recommend that the scale be allowed to fully warm-up before use to ensure the highest accuracy level. If this is not possible, the warm-up mode can be cancelled by pressing the CANCEL button. This will allow full access to all o f the 1200 DPS functions, however, accuracy could be slightly reduced until full warm-up is reached. 3. To turn off the 1200 DPS, press and hold the ON/OFF button. The 1200 DPS will return to the warm-up mode if the power is shutoff for any length o f t ime. Always turn off the 1200 DPS using the ON/OFF button first, and then unplug the power transformer. C. Calibration 1. After warm-up (or if cancel is pressed to exit warm-up) the unit will be in Scale and Dispense mode. We recommend that the scale be calibrated before use. This should be done without the powder pan on the platform. 2. Press the CAL/ZERO button to reset the scale to zero. 3. Press and hold the CAL/ZERO button. The LCD will display “Cal 20g”. 4. Place the 20 gram weight onto the platform and press the CAL/ZERO button again. (Press and Release – Do Not Hold) 5. The LCD will display 0.0 Remove the 20 gram weight. The LCD will display approximately -308.6. 6. Press CAL/ZERO one more time to reset zero.
