Linking and unlinking trays Linking trays Tray linking is useful for large print jobs or multiple copies. When one linked tray is empty, paper feeds from the next linked tray. When the Size and Type settings are the same for any trays, the trays are automatically linked. The Size and Type settings for all trays must be set from the Paper menu. Unlinking trays Unlinked trays have settings that are not the same as the settings of any other tray. To unlink a tray using the Paper menu, change the Paper Type...

Fiber content Most high‑quality xerographic paper is made from 100% chemically treated pulped wood. This content provides the paper with a high degree of stability resulting in fewer paper feeding problems and better print quality. Paper containing fibers such as cotton can negatively affect paper handling. Unacceptable paper The following paper types are not recommended for use with the printer: Chemically treated papers used to make copies without carbon paper, also known as carbonless papers,...

Using recycled paper and other office papers As an environmentally conscious company, Lexmark supports the use of recycled office paper produced specifically for use in laser (electrophotographic) printers. In 1998, Lexmark presented to the US government a study demonstrating that recycled paper produced by major mills in the US fed as well as non-recycled paper. However, no blanket statement can be made that all recycled paper will feed well. Lexmark consistently tests its printers with recycled paper...
